NFL Predictions Week 3

After The last two weeks I’m feeling like a rank amateur at this. Not that that’s gonna stop me. I consulted my 8 y/o but stopped when I realized that his football world consist of the Niners and Raiders to the exclusion of all others. I’ve changed my format slightly. Should be very simple to follow here’s the key:

Me = Italics LV = Bold

Of course in the cases where we agree, it’ll be both bolded and italicized. Here we go:

Jackson @ Indy 7.5, 43.5

Indy gets to take a great start to the season opening three and Oh. Jax doesn’t cover take the under.

KC @ Houston 7.5, 43

This should be a cake walk for the chiefs. Texans won’t cover take the under.

Minnesota @ Detroit 3.5, 47

This should be a pretty good game. Division rivals. I like the over in this game. I think Detroit can cover though.

NO @ Tennessee off 44

This is an interesting match-up. The Titans haven’t started clicking yet, but then the Saints are exactly impressive either, though last week was a good game. I think the Titans turn it around this week. This is pretty much a battle of evenly matched teams. Take the over.

NY Green @ NE 6.5, 37.5

I just don’t see the Jets starting o and three, not gonna happen. Take the over.

Pitt @ Cincy 4.5, 46

You know it’d really be funny if that game against the Raiders inspires the Bengals. They could pull off an upset…Ok I couldn’t even type that without snickering. Bengals cover, take the under.

TB @ Atlanta 4, 36

When I started looking at the match-ups I was thinking if Vick was playing I’d take Atlanta. Numbers look all right to me.
GB @ AZ 7.5, 43

There shouldn’t be a decimal in that first number. Over.

NY Blue @ Washington 2.5, 42.5

This should be another good game. I like Spurriers offense better than I like the Giants. Take the over. That’s a really funky spread in this game. I see one team running up the score.
St. Louis @ Seattle 3, 47.5

The Rams might be able to make a comeback now that the switch at QB has been made. It won’t start here though. Seattle by a touch at least. Under.

Baltimore @ San Diego 1.5, 40

I just don’t believe San Diego is that bad. Ask me again Sunday night. Your guess is as good as mine with those numbers.

Cleveland @ San Francisco 7, 44

Niners in a runaway.

Buffalo @ Miami 3, 40

Buffalo could take the opportunity to pull far ahead, which is why t won’t happen. Miami wins, Buffalo won’t cover. Over.
Oakland @ Denver 5.5, 45

The Raiders look downright out of it. This is Denver’s best chance to beat on them and I expect them to rise to the occasion. Raiders cover, take the over.
Go Niners!!!

I predict that Dallas won’t lose this week…

Pro:

TB - 4 over Atl.
Pit. - 4.5 over Cin.
KC - 7.5 over Hou.
NYG + 2.5 over Was.
GB - 7.5 over Ari.
STL + 3 over Sea.
Den - 5.5 over Oak.

College:

Fla. - 3.5 over Ten.
Ore. + 7.5 over Mich.
Ken. - 8,5 over Ind.
Pit. - 9.5 over Tol.
Geo. + 1 over LSU

I think your assessment is acurate about one team running up the score. I think the funky spread is due to the fact that either team could be the one to run it up.

Go Big Blue!

How High’s the Water Mama? - Johnny Cash

Ball of Confusion - Temptations

Rhythm of the Rain - Cascades

Twisting the Night Away - Sam Cooke

While I like the music selection, I’m having trouble applying it to football.

Oh, har de har har! Verrrry funny!

I’m a huge fan and even I was surprised to see that, despite their best efforts not to, they won against NYG in a real heart-stopper last Monday! Games like this one is why we call 'em the Cardiac Cowboys in our home!

O.K. I’m back. Here it is as I sees it, and if I don’t sees it, I makes it up. Remember, I’m only in it for the fun.

Unbelievably corny but…I used to call Tampa Bay One dollar per Cob. Buck and Ear get it? Get it?

:::chirp , chirp:::

Hey where did everbody go?

I went 11-5 last week. Here are my picks this week:

Indy over Jacksonville
KC over Houston
Minnesota over Detroit
Tenn over NO
NE over NY Jets
Pitt over Cincy
TB over Atl
GB over Arizona
Washington over NY Giants
StL over Seattle
Baltimore over San Diego
San Fran over Cleveland
Miami over Buffalo
Denver over Oakland

I agree with the OP’s picks, except I’ll take the Giants over Was. and the Bills over the Dolphins. The Bills-Dolphins game should be a great one to watch.

HA!!! I wondered where that post went to. It was aimed at the Hurricane Music thread. I need some sleep

Green Bay over Arizona is so easy, that I’m gonna say Arizona over Green Bay at least with the spread.

Picks of the WEAK:
-AZ
-San Diego
-Cleveland

I went 13-3 in my office pool last week…we won’t mention the first week. Here are my picks:
Indianapolic over Jacksonville
Kansas City over Houston
Minnesota over Detroit
Tennessee over New Orleans
New England over NY Jets
Pittsburgh over Cincy
Tampa Bay over Atlanta
Green Bay over Arizona
Washington over NY Giants
Seattle over St. Louis
Baltimore over San Diego
San Francisco over Cleveland
Buffalo over Miami
Denver over Oakland

Suddenly everyone is too shy to engage in a little smack talk?!?

**Tampa Bay (1-1) ATLANTA (1-1) ** The rivalry isn’t the same without Vick. This’ll will be a good game. TB in a squeaker.

**Pittsburgh (1-1) CINCINNATI (0-2) ** This, on the other hand… Pittsburgh 3, Cincinnati 0. Everyone in the stadium falls asleep.

**Minnesota (2-0) DETROIT (1-1) ** Detroit is going to be better this year. Going to be. Not yet. Minn by 14.

**TENNESSEE (1-1) New Orleans (1-1) ** McNair hurt his pinkie. He’ll beat NO with 4 good fingers. This’ll be close too.

INDIANAPOLIS (2-0) Jacksonville (0-2) I really like the Colts this year. I see them going further than anyone expected. The jags, well…At least their next game is Houston.

**NEW ENGLAND (1-1) New York (NYJ) (0-2) ** So close I’m choosing the home team. The Jets have been disappointing so far this year.

**Kansas City (2-0) HOUSTON (1-1) ** giggle. Too easy.

**Green Bay (1-1) ARIZONA (0-2) ** Chortle. Will Arizona win one this year?

** SEATTLE (2-0) St. Louis (1-1)** Seattle is looking really good this year too. Good chemistry is happening over there. Bad chem is in StL. Seattle in a blowout.

**WASHINGTON (2-0) New York (NYG) (1-1) ** Eeenie-Meenie-Mynee-Washington. No real reason.

**Baltimore (1-1) SAN DIEGO (0-2) ** Ravens. Soley due to coaching.

**SAN FRANCISCO (1-1) Cleveland (0-2) ** A lot of no brainers this week, aren’t there?

**MIAMI (1-1) Buffalo (2-0) ** Who wants it more? I really want to pick Buffalo here. Don’t give me a hard time next week for not picking them. Fish in a close one.
** DENVER (2-0) Oakland (1-1) ** Just to be a lame ass, looking back I’ve chosen all the favored teams this week. While Oakland usually does well at Mile High, I’m going to stick with my pattern. Denver. For no frickin reason whatsoever.

Too many gimme game, and too many sleepers.

Jacksonville @ Indy 7.5, 43.5

I’ll take indy and the points…over.

KC @ Houston 7.5, 43

KC wont cover…under

Minnesota @ Detroit 3.5, 47

Minn to cover…hmmmm under?

NO @ Tennessee off 44

Tenn will win…they have to…'course so does NO…go over

NY Green @ NE 6.5, 37.5

patsies win but dont cover…over

Pitt @ Cincy 4.5, 46

pitt covers easy in a squash (dont bet your favorite team)…under

TB @ Atlanta 4, 36

Atlanta wins out right and TB is left shaking their head…UPSET SPECIAL!!! over

GB @ AZ 7.5, 43

favre and company cover and over

NY Blue @ Washington 2.5, 42.5

Skins cover but keep it under

St. Louis @ Seattle 3, 47.5

Seattle covers and over…bulger or not

Baltimore @ San Diego 1.5, 40

San Diego wins out right…they are due…and the raisens D is still over rated. under

Cleveland @ San Francisco 7, 44

niners win and cover …over

Buffalo @ Miami 3, 40

miami wins and covers…over

Oakland @ Denver 5.5, 45

denver covers easily…raiders are done…under

But more importantly, do I start Maddox or Manning? Manning KILLS the jags, so he is in right now. Also, Bruce or C.Chambers?

my predictions…

Someones gonna win… someones gonna lose

I’ll talk some smack since I’m already a 'Skins fan and don’t have much to lose.

I’ll take the 'Skins over the G-Men. The Giants will be so worried about Coles running all over them that Gardner will have a big day, and even Spurrier is realizing that a good running game is necessary to open up the passing game so Canidate will get more than a few carries, at least one for a huge gain.

The Giants on the other hand, even if Smoot doesn’t play, will have a hard time getting the passing game going. I’m still waiting for Smith to give his last effort (the guy can’t possibly play for much longer and he’s certainly not getting any younger) and get the sack record, and for Bailey to get an interception (which he should judging by Collins habit of making bad throws when under pressure). Oh, and Arrington and Armstead should put a good old fashioned pounding on Barber.

The rest of the games don’t interest me in the least. Too many gimmes and sleepers, and Philly and the Cowgirls are at home licking their wounds.

Ah, my Redskins are finally getting some respect. I love it!
