I watched the Jets-Raiders game: not stupendous football.
Geno Smith really *could *be good. His arm is strong enough, he has above average accuracy, and he makes several plays with his legs every game. But he plays *dumber *than any QB I’ve seen in a while. Takes unnecessary big hits down the field (this week it caused him to fumble inside the 5), when he’s pressured he usually sprints backwards (this week it caused him to take a 19-yard sack on 3rd down from the Raiders’ 25 in the 4th Quarter with his team needing a FG to make it a two-score game), etc., etc.
I don’t why they thought Michael Vick, whose whole career has been centered around doing dumb shit, would make a good mentor.
Carolina defense is still really good. Josh McCown is not. Glennon will be starting again sooner rather than later.
Sure glad to see that there are going to be a lot more penalties this year. The game was getting awfully boring, without many penalties to keep me on the edge of my seat.

Excuse me? I wouldn’t call a team that’s been to the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 seasons and three in a row “shitty”. Or call them “shitty” when they beat a very tough Ravens opponent on the road. Or call them “shitty” when they, you know, actually have a competent offensive line (0 sacks), unlike, oh I don’t know, Green Bay’s (didn’t they lose?).
