NFL Week 13

Colin Cowherd was saying basically the same thing on the radio today. I don’t think RGIII has a Cam Newton-style slump - his accuracy is way better, for one thing - but NFL defenses always catch up to gimmick offenses in a year or two.

I’m trying to figure out how they’d rate him as negative DVOA. How do they calculate receiver DVOA? His yards per target must be pretty great, so what are they evaluating, his routes when he’s not the target?

His yards per catch aren’t that great for a guy who only runs downfield - 17.4. He’s got the worst catch percentage of anyone in the top 75 for targets except Denarius Moore.

ETA: Oops, you’re talking about Josh Gordon. These numbers were for Torrey Smith.

By the way, NFL.com’s new “stats lab” thing is completely useless. I JUST WANT A LIST OF PLAYERS SORTED BY YARDAGE. IS THAT SO FUCKING HARD?

I was looking at stats from earlier in the year. Currently his DVOA is now positive, and his catch rate is above 50%, and he’s rated as the 41st best WR. Sorry about that. Here is the latest I could find

Let the reign of Jonathan Dwyer begin! (To coincide with the Era of Running Back Competence for my dynasty team.)

You raise good points, and I really hope they work things out in the off season. Washington has labored so long with mediocre and awful QBs, that a lot of the love and hype is simply happiness at the sight of a talented quarterback, the first since, I dunno, Joe Theismann? RG3 does strike me as a pretty intelligent guy, and he’s already adjusted his play, learning to slide on running plays after he got knocked out for a week. As a fan I hope he can do the traditional QB role, because defenses will adjust.

Packers James Starks may be out for the year. Simply amazing how many injuries this team has had.

RG3 is so good, he can even make the Wizards win!

You sir, do the legacies of Doug Williams, Mark Rypien and freaking Jay Schroeder a disservice!
