For anybody interested, Trump is giving his victory speech on CNN right now. Likely on other media as well.
And he is not exactly gracious in victory.
When Trump has a senior moment, she will mention it. But whatever focus group input now dictates her messaging is unlikely to change much because she got 46 percent, or whatever the final result, in New Hampshire.
The lane for Republicans who value a maximum of knuckle pounding is already occupied by DJT.
No, not gracious at all. One of the talking heads on CNN just now said that he was furious. Partly because Haley is still in the race, and plans to remain in the race, but also because she did so well. Yes, he won, but he didn’t expect her to do as well as she did.
So much anger, so many lies, so much name calling. He called out Sununu several times and there was booing- not sue for trump or the Gov.
And Haley is just behind trump, that does not look good for him.ted.
I apologize if this has already been mentioned but apparently a lot of people have been writing in “ceasefire”.
Is the USA in a war, where we can call a ceasefire? I mean, yeah we are shooting at some Hohni rebels, but??
They are referring to Gaza
President Biden is the President of the USA, not the PM of Israel. He has no power to declare a ceasefire.
Thanks for the civics lesson. Tell them, not me. That’s why they are doing it.
Nikki should probably drop out now. She’s going to burn a lot of money on a lost cause. Winning New Hampshire was likely her only shot.
However… we live in very volatile times. Nikki may be staying in just to be last person standing if Trump dtops out for any reason. He is 78, under indictment, etc.
BUt if Trump goes the distance, Haley can’t win. And he’ll be merciless against her for the next while. What if she jumps ship, and runs on an independent ticket? That would not be god news for Republicans or Democrats. Kennedy/Haley? Haley/Phillips?
All of you haters saying that Nikki Haley should drop out haven’t been inspired by the “Nikki Haley Anthem.” If I have to know about it, I’m inflicting it on you, too.
It’s not her money, is it?
So long as the money is coming in, what does she have to lose? If Trump drops out, she’s the frontrunner; if not, she’s the frontrunner for 2028.
And she’s not gonna be VP or a Cabinet seat, so why not hover around and snipe away at him, hoping for the “hamburger from Heaven”?
Why did she keep the gloves on for so long? She and DeSantis made the same mistake of walking on eggshells to avoid offending the MAGA base. If either of them had actually run against the 900 pound orange gorilla, they might have had a chance. She can attack now, but it’s going to be far too little and far too late.
There’s no way she would ever do that.
She’ll endorse Trump in the end, just like everyone else
Yes, but if she hangs in the fight, we’ll have a few months of her disparaging Trump for a lot of the same reasons we disparage him - and it will be in venues that other Republicans actually listen to.
That just might get the idea that Trump is bad through to a few of them.
So, I say, fight on Haley!
I don’t think this is the case. The longer she stays in the race, the more she antagonizes Trump and his supporters. Trump’s increasingly turning his fire on her. If he were to die or be disqualified, MAGA world would be outraged at the thought that Nikki Haley would be the one to pick up his legacy.
By the end of March, the majority of delegates will be awarded and they’ll be overwhelmingly for Trump. These delegates to the Republican National Convention will be state and national elected officials, state and local party leaders, etc. Even if they wanted to support Haley, they won’t because it would outrage the grass roots who ultimately will decide their own fates.
Haley should take a page from the Trump playbook and call him “Crybaby Donald”, “Loser Donald”, “Senile Donald” etc at every opportunity. Hit him where it really hurts - his fragile ego.
Analogous to the mistake of the 2016 field, betting on him not making it all rhe way — back then the expectation that he would drop out sooner rather than later; this time around the hope of a prosecutor-ex-machina solution coming “from above” or for sane, sensible voters disgusted by the person to actually bother showing up to the caucus/primary — and then harvest the orphaned MAGA vote.
But let’s face it, they all care too much about being in the good graces of whoever does win, even if it means bowing to the deplorable.
