Why? He can only be elected twice total. Does not need to be consecutive terms.
He already insists he was elected twice! But I think the suggestion is that Trump will seize power as President-for-Life if he’s elected this year.
Seriously?
It sounds as though you believe that Donald would leave office voluntarily on January 20, 2025.
Why do you believe that?
(I realize that this is something of an aside, but it comes from the recently-introduced topic of why Haley’s donors continue to fund her.)
I think you mean January 20, 2029.
I assumed with “NO CHANCE” you meant no chance to be elected. Not no chance to be elected yet barre from taking office.
Yes, of course.
What on earth would stop him from doing that?
I continue to believe that Haley’s donors not only think having a President-for-Life won’t suit their business interests, but that funding Haley now is the only way to prevent it from happening. (A further assumption here that they also believe that the New GOP will do ‘whatever it takes’ this year, to ensure the Electoral College returns results in favor of the Republican candidate.)
(True also for Democrats.)
Who? (I mean, who is it you believe I said had no chance of being elected?)
The topic of ‘if Trump is the nominee yet the Supreme Court decides the 14th Amendment bars him’ is an interesting one, but I’m not sure it pertains, here. What has it to do with funding for Haley possibly being done to give her a war-chest for 2028?
(There may be some misunderstandings of what’s been posted here at work…?)
I doubt this. Harris got plenty of votes.
Yeah, there was Hillary Clinton, but the reasons for that were not related to her gender.
Well, we may see, one way or the other, eventually. Not this year, obviously.*
My guess is that the old standby “I’m willing to vote for a woman–just not THIS woman” will be employed by many Democrats the next time a female IS at the top of the ballot. But: we shall see.
.
.
*Of course there’s speculation about what might happen should Biden become unable to stand for election this November. One of the possibilities is that Harris would become the nominee. But it looks as though that’s not the only possibility being considered.
The fact that there is a better than even chance that by 2029 he’ll be dead?
Maybe.
But people have been saying that his diet and sedentary ways will kill him “soon” for years, now.
(Obviously he WILL die eventually. But if he’s the US Dictator when that happens, it’s virtually certain that his pathetic adult offspring will put off revealing the fact as long as they can, the better to loot.)
Thank you for saying it before I.
On;y the good die young.
I wonder if Haley may be able to pull out enough votes to match Trump in the upcoming Nevada, South Carolina and other races.
From Nevada, there seemed to be a news story on 2/1 where they said it seemed Trump might not have been included on their ballots as they were recently created. The NBC reporter was implying that Haley would be the presumptive write-in Republican candidate. To me it sounds nuts that Trump’s name would be absent because Trump had a rally in Vegas just last week.
In South Carolina, I would assume Haley has some local backers. Since she comes from and held office there, a reasonable person might assume she had grassroots advantage there in South Carolina. But state elections can vary widely in any case.
In terms of Trump and Haley’s electoral count, it seemed like Trump had a tally of 32 electorates to Haley’s 17 electorates, this according to several NBC data tables posted in the last week.
And I apologize for lacking cites here at the moment. Honestly I think my observations are conjecture and couldn’t be construed as factual in any case.
I think I heard that some teenager was just arrested for serial swatting. I don’t know if he is the one who swatted Nikki, but most teens aren’t too interested in politics, I don’t think.
The latest polling of Republicans nationally is
Trump - 72.4% and rising sharply
Haley- 17.7%
South Carolina
Trump - 62.0%
Haley - 31.4%
She has no chance
Swatters could have been doing that for long enough to hide tracks so I could see adults doing that. I could even see criminals getting paid to swat.
Hajario thank you for bringing up those #s. I think more of piddling candidates than is justified.
Nevada is having a Republican primary run by the state and a Republican caucus run by the party. Only the caucus determines delegate allocation, and candidates who file for the primary ballot are ineligible in the caucus.
