Nintendo remaking Excitebike for WiiWare

It’ll be called Excitebike World Rally and it’ll be out on November 9. It’ll include a new graphical style, online play and the famous Excitebike track editor. First trailer here:

Very interesting. I wonder if they’ll do this for any of their other classic titles (although I guess this would be the second time they did it after Punch-Out!!).

They are overexcited over this game. I love me some Excitebike, but there seems to be only so much you can do to make as simple a game as it was better (outside of playing online, of course).

But that’s the point. It’s the same, but it’s polished.

Woo! I’m superexcited! In fact, I’m so exicted! And I just can’t hide it! And I’m about to lose control and I think I like it!

There really isn’t much polish that can be put onto it. It’s Excitebike. It’s like putting polish on chess. It is what it is.

Shiny chess?! Where?! I must have it!

Here.

Okay, here.

That looks like some crappy Flash game. I know it’s just WiiWare, but damn.

Its excite bike with new graphics, it WOULD be a great flash game. I think the best part about the original was that the guy you played was called excite mike.

See, and here I was, thinking that the best part of the original was the game itself.

You’re both wrong, the best part of the original was the Track Editor.

I know I made tracks that never ended, just to annoy the shit out of my neighbors.

Meh. It was okay at the time. (Had anything like that been out yet? And if not, when was the next time something like that came out?)

I remember it being tedious, and you couldn’t save them. Running the circuits was much more fun for me.
