No "American Dad" thread? (spoilers)

Did everyone else already give up on it, or was the suckitudinage so apparent that it went without saying?

It wasn’t that bad, but it is far behind compared to Family Guy in my opinion. I thought the gay neighbors were really funny.

“Geez, take a picture why don’t you?”

“Hey, it would be rude not to look.”

This week’s was better than last week’s, by a longshot. Still very one-note, but not bad.

Just a thought, but since American Dad was devolped by Family Guy’s creators before FG was uncancelled is it possible they might purposely be trying to make AD bad. That it would get it cancelled and let them concentrat on FG.

I thought it was great (if considered in isolation from Family Guy.)

The hippie boyfriend was perfect. I larfed like a loon at “We’re exactly where we need to be,” because I have been in a van filled with Phishheads, which did break down, and the driver did say, repeatedly, “This is okay. We’re exactly where we need to be.” It wasn’t funny then.

“Sweetie, I rinsed your pee-bucket out.” Chuff!

The strip club girls were perfect, and the parental support at the end was touching. Wait, no touching-- that would be creepy.

I think she said, “I rinsed out your tinkle can”, which is even funnier.

I like AD, but it’s hard for a show to follow FG if it’s not as funny. Plus, it’s made by the same person and has similar animation, so there are going to be comparisons. I said it last week–put it on a different night of the week and I think it would do better. I know they’re cramming in all of their animated shows into one night, but I think it’s overkill.

It’s just not funny. Not even just compared to Family Guy. I’m comparing it to your run of the mill comedy show. It’s not even Oblongs level of funny. And that’s saying something.

Anybody catch the Caligula reference in tonite’s episode?

No. The shows are being done by different people, and why would the writers sabotage their own careers?

No—what was it?

Forgot to say: That alien really. really. really. gets on my nerves. I could do without the goldfish as well.

well, this’ll be the last episode of American Dad that I watch. While it WAS funnier than the first two episodes, it’s still less funny than the Simpsons was last season (this season I finally decided to take the leap and cut that show out of my life). Thank god Family Guy has lived up to its expectations.

Last night was way too creepy though - first during Family Guy, I was talking to one of my friends about our plan to break a Guiness World Record next month, and less than a minute later, Peter was doing the same. About a half hour later, I was discussing with another friend some of the undrawn details of Francine, and immediately after, she walked into the bathroom and said “oh my god, who fired the gardener?”

That’s because both are esstinally one joke characters.

After my comments earlier in the thread I thought I would chime in and say… I REALLY liked last nights episode.

Is this the first time we’ve seen Patrick Stewart as the CIA boss?

I lost my S at this line.
“Did you see where they went?”
“Where who went?”
“The black guys who did this.”
I also liked the Dave Chapelle Freak Out Tent. Just timely or did they add that in at the very last minute.
Was there a younger daughter character that they cut out since the pilot?

I have to agree that the alien is really annoying. How many times are we going to see this plot device: The son wants to get some action with the ladies, so he cuts a deal with the alien that will allow the alien to get out of the house, but in the end the alien messes it all up because the task is too degrading or he actually gets too into it? Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems like something like that has happened every episode so far.
