Comade dogbutler, how was your sort?
SSLAW #2 was DOA the whole shift, they overloaded Yellow, and that shut down, then the gather belt that takes the process stuff to be sorted died. And the last 2 Airs got there at 8, but the Seconday guy shut down the Mez at 7:30. They also asked if I want to be a PT supervisor again(I said no, I’m crazy, not stupid )
{{{Shades}}}}, sorry about your cat.
Just do your best, Taters.
Martini glass. We’re not unwashed savages here.
This is a dog that once ignore a plate of food to steal my bottle of beer.
Pretty sure the ol’ Tobster doesn’t need heartworm meds.
Hope he feels better, soon.
I understand. The shop doesn’t have to actually be workable, the shop’s purpose will be to make FIL feel like he could make wonderful projects anytime he felt like it. It will allow him to pretend that things will go back to how they were tomorrow.
Don’t forget to bring lots of snark, hubs has been running low lately.
I’m sorry, even when you know it’s happening, it still hurts. Try to not kill anyone at your yard sale, people are so nutz sometimes.
I wish I had good news. It’s really looking like I’m SOL on the contact lens…ANY contact lens. In other words, I’m stuck living in a blur. M. now says it’s the same company they’ve always used (Why did she say otherwise? Confused, I guess.) They’re the only company who makes this lens, and I am the only patient at the clinic (and they have many thousands of patients) who wears one. M. says she spoke with her manager and one of my docs, and they say there are no other options.
M. says she’s talking with their tech every day. I told her to talk to their management. She said she would, but given her track record, I think I may have to try to do that, myself. They’re not a patient-friendly company, as they only deal with providers. It shouldn’t be this hard.
I’m puzzled by my own reaction. I spent five years living in a blur and was OK emotionally because I didn’t let myself dwell on it, was grateful I could see at all and happy I had figured out how to navigate. Then my vision improved a bit and this contact lens, which I’d had different versions of and had only helped a little) now helped a lot. Now I can’t seem to regain my old cheery outlook.
FCM, I think most of us would have reacted the same way. I bet many parents have called 911 under those circumstances. I hope MIL and FIL don’t drive you crazy. Do you have Bluetooth headphones?
shady, so sorry about the poor kitty.
nettie, hope today is a better day. I sure wish your doctor’s appointment were sooner, like 20 minutes from now. (Why yes, I come from the Land of Worry. How did you know?)
I have to lay flat for 3 days, and then I have restrictions for 6 weeks.
NettieJtC is right. Pet your kitties and soak in some warm fuzzies. Sending hugs.
Unions are fantastic and I’m glad your workplace has one.
Shady I’m sorry about the kitty.
Nellie I’m sorry about your lens. There must be another manufacturer somewhere out there if this one is failing to perform. I understand what you mean about how hard it is to go backwards after a health improvement. I had that happen with this latest back issue. I know I used to feel that badly all the time and I had adjusted my life to fit that, but having had a period of improvement and then going back was awful. You are not alone, is what I’m trying to say.
Had a good time at my high school’s 50-year reunion. Walked around reading people’s nametags, and was surprised by the number of people I didn’t remember/hadn’t known! There were still a lot that I did remember, of course. One woman remembered that I broke both arms in first grade – said she sat right behind me in class.
Now I’m in Indiana visiting my nephew for a few days; tomorrow Ill be leaving to go to my high school’s 50-year reunion. Can’t wait!
I hope that you get the light headedness all sorted out seanette.
Glad that your procedure went well sunny. Here’s hoping it takes.
I’m sorry about your cat shady. Hope there’s no bloodshed at the yard sale.
Mooooooom, anything that you save to the actual phone is there until a data wipe is done. A search warrant for the device would likely also include the sim card (what you should be saving your info to because you can remove it). After years in the business (even though I never really had my hands on the phones / tablets themselves until a year ago), I know that people are dumb asses to the stuff that they save to their device / sim card, then return them when damaged, many times with the sim still in it. We’ve had to call in the TBI and FBI in the past for some content.
I got volunteered for my area’s 5S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) rep. That means that I’ll be checking things out and making lists for ~1 hour a week and go to monthly meetings. Oh, well, organization has always been my forte.
Howdy Y’all! Provisions were procured and even though I did not mow, I did get a fair amount of yahd irk done. I trimmed back some bushes and trimmed some low hangin’ limbs from the trees in the front yahd that were givin’ me trouble when I mow. I hauled all that to the landfill (there’s an area for that kinda stuff and they don’t charge) and then showered and accomplished nappage. BLTs and oven fries have been consumed and all is well in swampland.
{{{Nellie}} it is frustratin’ when sump’n that has made life easier is now not attainable, or not attainable without considerable trouble. I hope the lens makers get with it soonest.
Been shot twice (flu vaccine in the left arm and COVID in the right) and that’s about as exciting as the day got. Both arms ache a little bit but I feel OK, but just couldn’t work up the motivation to go swimming, but I guess one skip day is allowed at my age. Will fix some dinner here in a little bit and maybe take a walk around the neighborhood. At least solved all my puzzles in the paper, so my brain still works more or less).
nellie, I feel for you, to have something seem to be on the improvement and then go backwards is not going to make anyone happy. Maybe the company can pull off a miracle and get you a good set.
OK, made the big decision for the week; BLT’s tonight, Cheeseburger tomorrow. Take care all.
I haven’t been to the dentist since the pandemic broke out. In the meantime, he retired. He’s loaning them his meteorites and fossils though. I’ve been having some pain in a molar for a couple of months, and then it seemed loos a couple/few weeks ago… Turns out it’s my implant. I knew I had one, but I couldn’t remember which one it was. I have an infection, so the dentist ordered me some antibiotics (and she said I should take probiotics). I have to go back in two weeks for a cleaning, and then I’ll have to see a periodontist for a deep cleaning and a look-see at the implant.
We have run much stuff to waste management, which means not just trash but wood, metal, cardboard, plastic, and fluorescent bulbs this time around. With the trash to salvage ratio and senior discount, it was $6.
Then I did a round of weeding, clean up, and hosing off of wildfire-toxic ash from decking and yard furniture, plus picking up cut foliage from clipping a few days ago.
In theory, I’ll get a call soon from a drywall guy for a quote on repairs related to the plumbing fix and mysterious punched out sections under the house.
My lovely wife became exhausted watching me and is napping.
Went to a local Asian market today after exercise class, in search of lumpia fixins. I was stunned to find Simex (brand) lumpia wrappers in the first market we stopped at. These have been nearly impossible to find for the past several years. I bought two packages and my daughter and I are going to cook us up some good stuff next weekend. If you don’t know already, lumpia are a Filipino version of an eggroll, but unlike with eggroll, the wrappers are paper (nearly tissue) thin. The wrappers are rolled up around a filling of your choosing: I use a mix of shrimp and pork along with a vegetable mixture of water chestnuts, bean sprouts, shredded carrots and cabbage and a bit of fish sauce.
Thanks all for the kind words about the door/shelves that I made. Someone, can’t remember who, asked if I make stuff like that for myself, and the answer is…no. I’ve got one or two ok pieces that I made, a couple of nice (well I like them) artworks I did on the walls, and also a few pieces of absolute crap furniture that I’ve been meaning to replace, like the goofy 70’s style table lamp with a busted out magazine rack underneath. I hate it, but it is useful. S’pose I should just suck it up and make a nice one.
I do have some beautiful antiques I inherited from family, so it’s not like my house is full of junk. Just not much I’ve built for myself.
Dinner was ‘bachelor kibble’. There was some ground beef in the meat locker, and a bag of broccoli florets in the freezer. So I put the deadcow in a pot with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and some of the frozen broccoli. The Spousal Unit is out of popcorn, so she decided to have some. She melted a slice of cheese on hers. I did the same, but added some mayo and catsup. She said she wouldn’t want it every night, but it was good – because she was hungry. I hope the broccoli doesn’t make her bloated. There’s a bowl left, which I’ll probably ingest for lunch tomorrow. Or dinner. Who can say?
