I used to travel to Nashville regularly for work. Always enjoyed my visits. Not sure when I’ll get there again, but I’ll support the home team.

Been a lazy afternoon/evenin’. Rain off and on. I did grill some chikin to put on sallit for dindin but that has been the extent of my efforts. I think I might be startin’ to get the hang of this retired thing.

You do realize I’m Spiderman.
I swing thru the man-made canyons, & fly thru the natural ones? Therefore, I don’t think I’d be a good test subject as I’m used to it.

Howz’bout we use you instead? :dubious:

Can’t we just all get along? Rodney King. Best quote ever. Can’t believe i am taking up for Flytrap.

Go Preds.

Rosie’s sig. :frowning:

Just a quick scan. We’re leaving for Cook early Thursday and then the 16th we head for Rehoboth and eventually you-know-where. Until the 22nd or so just pass around the hugs and congrats as appropriate.

We’ll miss you Ruble. Have a great trip!

For Tuesday, it started out a lot like Monday.

Convenience store stop while waiting for a bus - I kept dropping coins. At least the counter guy got a laugh, and I did laugh about it too.

Approaching the front door of my little Hades annex (aka irkplace), discover my badge, which had been clipped to my waistband, is now missing. I had it when I got on said bus, since I also had my nice smart-card transit pass on there. Had to deal with paperirk to replace badge and contact local transit to have smart-card cancelled and a new one issued with my monthly pass and stored value transferred thereto. This also yielded some irritation on the way home, when I had to remember to fire up the transit ticket app on my phone to purchase a pass to get home.

Finally, I think I lost my damn mind somewhere in there. I have long enough days as it is, and dearly loathe my little Hades annex. So why’d I volunteer for six hours of OT in the next three irkdays? (Tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday. Probably could have scored more hours on Thursday, but I have much more important things to do that day, such as interviewing for a vastly better job.)

Oh, yeah, right. Need the money. That’s why the extra six hours in Hades annex.

Cool, drizzly start to the day. I need to remember to head to the credit union after work - we’ve got an appointment with our financial planner. I wish we’d started dealing with him as soon as we moved here - our situation would probably be much better. In the short time we’ve been with him, we’ve done some real planning as opposed to the nebulous conversations we used to have. I’ve come to believe that we’ll actually be able to afford to be retired without moving into a refrigerator box! So anyway, that’s this afternoon.

Meanwhile, I need to get thru the day. Good times…

Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 76 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted. I think we might even have tstorms later today. I shall go to the sto’ this mornin’ for some provisions. The Pubic Sto’ gives us geezers ten percent off on Wednesday so I’ve become a regular on Wednesday. If’n I’m gonna be a geezer then I want all my dang geezer discounts dagnabbit! I shall procure some shrimpies while there for dindin. Shrimp ‘n grits and coleslaw are what I envision for vittles this evenin’. Those are the big plans for the day.

Ruble be safe and have fun!

Nettie appropriate/inappropriate appendages re the interview tomorrow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I should purtify so’s I can go about the public at the Pubic Sto’.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Mornin’ all.

Not much to report, paid some bills yesterday and found a new web-comic to follow (Quantum Vibe, which is a sci-fi daily, about 10% into it now). Now have 4 web-based comics that I follow, much better than anything in the paper.

ruble, hope the vacation goes well. Expect to hear all about it upon your return.

Nettie, I’ve lost my badges on occasion; hanging them off your waistband though is asking for trouble (IMHO). Glad you were able to get them replaced. Hope the interview(s) go well.

FCM, Yeah, financial planners (mine is an Edward D. Jones rep) do help you concentrate on your financials and what you are doing about the future.

At least this first part, between the Wild Indians and the explosives ----------- you may hear about it on the 6 o’clock news!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I banged my foot on the bedframe last night, now my little toe looks like a tiny Viqueens fan. Gordie hornked on the carpet. I can’t decide whether he looked sorrowful about making a mess in the house, or because he lost 2 cookies.

I gotta up my Lego game, apparently.

Blurf Tis thunderstorming hard enough that I gave staff the old what you gonna do in the event of a tornado. They laugh at me when I do that but just watch. One day I will be right. Whilst I was preaching I also went over the active shooter plan. We needed rain.

Came in to a message on my irk computer about an upgrade and do not reboot. Well clerk said it was on hers all day yesterday and she had to call the helpdesk. So I call helpdesk and helper can see the machine and tried to push whatever with no luck. Asked me to take it to a hard wire connection. It is not my job to haul this big computer around in a thunderstorm. Out of three computers my new laptop, which I hate, is the only one that works. I should have stayed home today too.

**MetalMouse **- our financial guy works thru our credit union, which is great, because we don’t have to pay for his services. He listens to us, he seems to ask good questions, and under his guidance, we’ve grown my TSP nicely. We want to get a status on our annuities and talk about what to do with our current 401k accounts when we re-retire.

Lunch break!!!

It’s overcast and mid-60s - more like early spring than nearly summer! But I’m indoors, so what do I care!

Yesterday, a neighbor came to see FCD. The guy will talk you to death, so before my sweetie went out, I told him he’d be getting a “phone call” in about 10 minutes. It worked out well without having to be rude.

Happy Hump Day!

It’s a bit overcast and cool outside. I have the windows open even though the breeze is a bit chilly.

The new neighbors have been quiet so I guess somebody said something to them.

The cat is acting weird. Usually he is all over me as soon as I wake up, but he has been ignoring me all morning. I don’t know if he is miffed about something? Normally he is a pest.
Never mind, here he comes.

Have fun Ruble

Good Luck Nettie

Morning irk shift is over, time t get busy around the house.

aaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggggg and growlllllll .So aggravated. Still no network computer. I have been on the phone most of the morning. Told last guy this is a work stoppage like he cares. I am seriously thinking of just going home. Took my old dead laptop to the local repair shop and pray they can get it running if just for a few minutes. If not they seemed to think they can fix it or at least put my data on a thumb drive. We shall see. FML

Hang in there Butters! It will get better. If all else fails, feel free to use my old irk mantra, “It all pays the same.”

I did brave the Pubic Sto’ earlier today. Got provisions plus shrimpies for tonight. I made coleslaw and will make the shrimp 'n grits when OYKW gets here. Shrimp 'n grits does not take long to make but must be served hawt so it is not a make ahead dish. I have windows open in da cave. 'Tis only 75 Amurrkin out (BRRRRRR!) and has been rainy all day, so windows on the backside of da cave where rain can’t blow in are open. Nice to have the fresh air.

I loooovvveee shrimp and grits. My fambly is not so refined as I, therefore I do not get the shrimp and grits with regularity. Sigh. Woe.

Fingers crossed, I think I have finally slept off the horrid headache and am back done to my normal icky one. This is good.

Tonight we start several days of rain. I am excited.

Happy Windsday!

Afternoon blurf

Shrimp 'n grits and coleslaw have been consumed. Sunny it had been a while since I had any and a looooooooooooong time since I had made shrimp 'n grits. That’s mostly cause it is more of a brunch food and does have to be served hawt. However, it was perfect for dindin on a damp, rainy day. I must needs put shrimp 'n grits in the rotation more often. YUM! Chillage ensues.
