I’m a Sacramento person myself, so I do commiserate with my fellow’s up there in Redding… however, since I’ve driven to Crescent City to participate in beating of friends with sticks, I can’t bitch to much…
In fact, we may want to look into a caravan, or, mayhaps even pooling together for a rental van or something… just an idea.

I’m inclined towards this. Depending on dates of course. (Now that I have said that I will have to go read the thread again to make sure I didn’t miss the dates).
Ok children, now we need to figure out dates. We in chat were thinking July, definately NOT the 4th of course. Sometime after. That settled, we can pick from the weekends of the: 14th, 21st, 28th, maybe the weekend of August 4th?
Yay! Silver! This is really going to be a rockin’ Dopefest . The 14th sounds good to me. The first week in July is out for me, since I’ll be camping that whole week. Anything else is cool with me.
I just called the Madonna Inn and they said their 4 biggest rooms (sleep 5-7 each in separate bedrooms) are all available for the weekend of July 14-15. There aren’t any conventions or anything happening, but she said we should probably get ourselves together within the next month if we want to reserve a block of rooms. If you think you’re too good for kitsch, there are a couple of holiday inn type places nearby as well, but I think it would be a blast to get a big group at the Madonna.

And its only, what?, 9 months away? By then I might have had a baby. I will bring the little miracle baby along. I will name him EisenHeimer. He will sing swing songs.

5- 7 people in a room? Well, we could really save money that way. Anyway, yeah, i figured i’d let the thread rest for a months, resurrect it from post hell, and see new interest. Which I am happy there is a lot. Anyway, sounds like the 14th is it, unless more dopers object. Before we make it definate, let’s see what others have to say, eh?
Doob, the rooms with beds for 7 people go for around $300 per night, which probably doesn’t equal cheap, but I think 50-60 per night per person is reasonable as long as everybody gets a bed. I’ve never stayed there, but I bet there is probably enough room for people with healthy spines to crash on floors too if we want to reduce the cost further.
I seem to have gotten an orginizational bee in my bonnet about this, so here’s my idea for getting it together, without any one single person having to throw their credit cards ridiculously out on a limb…
I could reserve one large suite, people could email me if they want to share and then send me a check to cover part of the deposit. If 3 or 4 of us do this, we could spread out the financial responsibility for it, and it may be easier to keep a head count if we’re broken down into smaller groups.
