Nothing can eclipse the MMP!

Kind of bummed about not traveling to see the eclipse. Then I read today that the next total eclipse is only seven years away and that one will be passing right over my house.

Yes- I’m excited by that one. I don’t live in WNY anymore, but that’s were I grew up.Perfect excuse to hit up Duff’s and see the eclipse.

It’s started here. We’re in the 99% fringe. I just stepped out on our back deck and had a look. It’s really cool!

I’m counting on my coworkers to alert me because when I’m busy, I lose track of everything else. And I’ve got a busy afternoon awaiting me.

Our campus is having a viewing party (safety glasses provided) on the top of the student union. All I can think of is the scene in Independence Day when everyone goes to the top of the buildings with signs to greet the aliens. We all know how that ends.

I’m feeling a bit reluctant to go!

Soapy I’d stay low. That way maybe the pods will have absorbed all the souls they need before they get to you.

Good advice. That’s why I count on you.

This country is doomed if our future is relying on academia that relies on Swampy.

:stuck_out_tongue:

So we traveled to South Carolina to see the totality and… a thunderstorm. It’s all
good because we’re in the care of the wonderful Jonathan Chance and enough Dopers to have some serious fun. So what if we miss a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The company is enough.

Aaaaaaannnnnndddddd…it’s over! I don’t know how I can go on from here. :frowning:

We had breakfast on our back deck, where there was a 99% chance of totality, and a 100% chance of bees. Who knew bees were so fond of french toast and sausage. (Actually I was.) We had to give them their own plate.

It was on the TV too, but I had to turn the sound off 'cause there’s just so much inanity I can take. “How does this eclipse make you feel?”

Now to find something else to do today.

Eclipse is still going on here. A partial one.

I shared my eclipse glasses with the little boy next door. Totally made his day. His reaction totally made my day. Plus I got a hug.

I went to the front of FCD’s building and watched with them, using his welding helmet. Very cool. And I got ice cream that was left over from their party last week. Win all around!

Leaves on campus acting as a pinhole camera.

Ice cream!?! That’s what we forgot! Oh the humanity!

Home, having retrieved the Sonata. They missed a burned-out fuse that I discovered when the radio wouldn’t come on. But all seems to be good, so yay!

It’s rained a bit. **FCD **doesn’t want supper, so I don’t know what I’m going to do - maybe a bowl of cereal. Or a sammich.

TORNADO WARNING!!!

We’re all gonna DIIIIIIIEEEEE!!!

Can I have your DVDs?

So what a letdown on the eclipse heh? Since there were no glasses to be had I made a pinhole viewer and stepped out to try it when a person showed up with one pair of glasses so I got a peek and it was way Cool. Without the glasses though it was a big nothingburger. It did get dimmer for a bit.

Since our new shortened hours went into effect today I am home an hour earlier. Had to play front desk clerk today as all two of my staff have the crud now so it was just me and the new lady snotting all over. I never even cranked up my irk puter today. Hope there was nothing I needed to know.

I do feel better, gonna live. Hope Doggioooo is better.

Tonight I shall see if I can find some cheap eclipse glasses so I will be better prepared next time.

Forgot lunch. I ran out and got us a spaghetti and meatballs quesadilla and cheesecake. Yummy and lunch for tomorrow.

metal mouse, had you headed north early enough, you likely wouldn’t have hit traffic. You would have had to entertain yourself for a few hours, but when I left for irk @ 7 am, the traffic was like a holiday; no school buses, not many commuters, etc.

We had a viewing party on our back lot. Sunchips, moon pies, H2O and viewing glasses provided. It was cool. The last one was when I was in high school. We were’nt even allowed outside to view it. Understandable, as herding 2K HS students, finding viewing glasses or pinhole boxes and making sure everyone used them would have been a nightmare.
