Dang, swampy. Mowing your yard before 9am? You either have tolerant (or distant) neighbors, I try that around here they’d call the cops on me.
Midget, hope you and FCM have no issues with the Dr. Appointments.
Nettie, Butters, hopefully better days are coming…
No rain yesterday so need to go out and water the yard. New doors will be installed next Wednesday and the painters have been notified. After that I think I’ll take a break from house improving until next spring.
Get to meet the last of my three soccer teams, 10U girls, tonight. And advice on getting along with 8-10 8- and 9- year old girls?
Back from Dr - she said the rash wasn’t fungal, wasn’t bacterial, and she hasn’t got a clue. So if it gets worse, I have to go back. Otherwise, antihistamines or topical steriods as needed. And she told me to make an appointment for my annual poke-n-prod, so I set that up.
I finished the back yahd, hosed myself off and jumped in the cee-mint pond for a bit. Now I’m inside, showered, have had sustenance and am soakin’ up some a/c. MetalMouse one can crank up here at seven a.m. Mowin’ durin’ the week is no problem as most of the neighbors are leavin’ for irk around that time or shortly thereafter. If I did mow on the weekend I’d wait until at least nine a.m. out of politeness.
Biggest problem is backlog of dishes (sigh), at least so far. The dishwasher is churning away as I type. Also gotta find a piece of clothing I bought recently that has vanished (grump).
The cat was quite patient and civilized about the “it’s time for breakfast, Mom” campaign, so that helped. Unlike my last day off, she did not decide that walking back and forth ON me was a good tactic.
Minor shopping needs to happen today, as does calling car insurance company and asking for a shift in due date this month (this month’s direct debit will not line up well with pay date).
Sorry Nettie. Some days are just meant to be kicked.
Butters I hope maybe you can catch a nap or something. Feel better soon.
Nut how long will it take the bees to adjust to their new surroundings? Do you have to worry about them striking out for “home”?
FCM sorry about the rash. Ain’t nature fun?
MetalMouse no clue about the 8-10 y.o. girls. Run their little legs off? Might make the parents happy at least. For meatloaf, mine is similar to mom’s, although I don’t vary it much. Ground beef, bread crumbs, worceshestire (which I can’t spell) sauce, garlic and onion powder. Spices are to taste. Bread until it’s not a sticky mass of meat, but more of a drier consistency, but it still sticks together. Cook at 350 until done. Yep. I’m very helpful.
Went to puppy class yesterday. Pepper is coming along nicely. I need to work on “fetch” (not part of the class - that puppy has miles of energy). She is a smart and good girl. Yes, she is.

I prefer oatmeal in my meatloaf. Ground beef, oatmeal, tomato sauce, egg, dry onion soup mix, other seasonings as whim takes me, sometimes add shredded cheese. I have a meatloaf pan that has two layers. The smaller inner one has drainage holes for excess fat.
I love this line, and have added it to the text file I have, collecting good lines from various forums I participate in.

I was so early for my first appointment that when I took the bus from the appointment back to the bus station, I arrived at the bus station at about the time my appointment had been scheduled for.
Meatloaf is baking in the convection setting of my countertop oven, and it’s smelling yummerrific! I’m going to throw together some sides in the next few minutes, after I feed Higgs.
Listening to the news talking about Harvey. Our long-absent Mumper, Rebo, will be affected. It’s a scary storm…
Dindin turned out a lot different than my original plan this mornin’. It turned into fried chikin’ strips, baby lima beans, stewed N.O.T. and rolls. I got inspired this afternoon.
MOOOOOOM glad the rash is a minor, if annoyin’, thing.
Nettie yay for a better day.
StickyBuns you have a tough job, but I bet the kids do love you.
My meatloaf consists of a combo ground beast and mild snausage, bread crumbs, onions, garlic powder, salt, pepper, aigs, and tomato sauce. I mush it all up until it looks right. I’ve seen recipes for beastloaf with exact measurements but I wouldn’t trust one of those. It’s a make it as you go thing. Same with cornbread dressin’. Yeah, I can give exact measurements for some stuff but it’s mostly a texture/taste thing to know it’s right.
Well I will tell you all that a day in bed is twice as long as a day at irk. I napped a bit this AM but made a point of staying awake since late morning to get some sleep tonight. I intend to be back to irk tomorrow.
There is a tropical wave right on top of us promising mucho rain. I spoke with irk and they were dead which makes time move very slow. Busy is good I guess but not when one is under the wx.
Tonight I shall make that gourmet meal of Hamburger Helper as that is all I feel like doing. Tis quick and easy. Don’t judge.
Many years ago, I asked a friend for her recipe for spaghetti carbonara. It included such measurements as “some” and “a little” and “some more” - I’m guessing she was a throw-it-together cook. Thanks to the intrarwebz, I can find just about any recipe I want.
I found one, tho, that was a disgrace. It purported to be Chicken Teriyaki. The marinade was soy sauce and mayo. I’m not a chef or anything, but my teriyaki marinade has soy sauce, red wine vinegar, garlic, ginger, and something else I can’t remember off the top of my head. So I knew mayo was right out! ick.
I bet that cook thought spaghetti sauce with little hunks of hot dog is a real Eyetalian treat!
Meatloaf was good, but a wee bit overdone. I’m still learning how to time things in the convection mode. We’ll have ice cream later. For now, I intend to crochet and digest.
sunny, Nelson has fetch and tug of war down pat. We’re working on getting a good grip on the housetraining and walking on the leash like a big boy. That and being a polite puppy when I sit down to eat.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I don’t have another huge pile of irk on my desk tomorrow so’s that I can duck out early.
And dinner turned into bologna sandwiches for hubs and nada for me. I just have no appetite. I did get up to throw those sandwiches together so I was a little productive today. He likes bologna. Yucky.
We took Pepper pup and Kona (our 11 y.o. Swissie) to the dog park today. They had a blast. Pepper ran and ran and ran and then ran. We practiced recall. She got treats for coming back to me when called. She likes treats a whole lot. Now the dogs are piles of fur that are snoring.
Thank you all for putting up my sniveling all week. I am better but far from well. I just cannot lay around anymore so it’s back to irk for me tomorrow.
Shift called sis threw her out of house, so of course she had no other way of contacting me.:dubious: Long couple of post vaction weeks, I guess I napped till 9 when I got home. Making Hot Chicken with smoked potato wedges, and corn with lime, cilantro, and jalapenos.
