Gave the lawn a good watering and then had soccer practice. Near the end I was refereeing a scrimmage, and the ball deflected off a foot and got me dead center in the…formal dances–or acorns. Had to stagger over to the sidelines for a couple minutes, even kicked by a 9 year old girl, that…stung.
Of course the kids thought it was funny as hell.
So not all I have to do is memorize 26 names on three teams by Saturday…I’m hard-pressed to remember mine some days…
Still, could be worse. No Hurricane, no rash, and no illness (glad you’re feeling a bit better, Butters).
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 71 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 90, mostly cloudy, and a chance of tstorms this afternoon. I shall go up to visit JDD’s 'rents this afternoon. Dindin will be majik intartoobz pizza.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. I shall commence with purtification as well.
Thanks, swampy. Yeah, I guess they have strange ways of showing love. This is the first year that I haven’t switched teaching jobs over the summer and due to the nature of my class, I have all the same kids again so it’s like we picked up right where we left off in May. That includes me doing my circle time routine THIS LOUD so that I can be heard.
We got rain overnight. Not heavy, but lots of it. As a result, there shall be no mowage today. I think it’s supposed to be clear henceforth, so I should be able to hang laundry on the line. For now, I have a load in the dishwasher swishing away, and when **FCD **decides to get up, we may go for breakfast.
I need to rummage thru my purse for my Metro pass, then I need to check the schedule to figure out when to leave the house for BooFaeFest. I know it’s about an hour from the house to the end of the Green Line, but beyond that, dunno.
I’ll be dragging the vacuum out to de-Ziva the carpet, and **FCD **wants help pulling wire for his new machines. My day will be a mish-mash of stuff.
**Butters **- I don’t like baloney or bologna or however you want to spell it. One of my sisters lived on baloney-n-butter sammiches. ick.
Nettie – I hear you. This my text impression of yesterday (and looks like today is shaping up this way as well):
If I were actually physically in the office, I’d have been running around screaming that I was surrounded by idiots. As it is, I’m telling the cats that I work with idiots.
BLURF at irk and it is so cloudy and overcast we are dead which makes for a long day. Other new employee started today but it’s hard to train without customers. It all pays the same. I have to irk tomorrow for a half day and it is supposed to be raining all weekend.
TGIF though and it’s payday so I can pay my bills and be broke again.
Axolotls successfully relocated to the new flat. Just one more car load to go…
I appear to have been offered a ludicrously nice place to keep my hive there, on a really lovely smallholding. It comes with donkeys who like scritches, nosy peacocks, and a really nice owner.
I spent last night in the new place; I actually had a bit of trouble sleeping 'cos it was so quiet. Just got back, which took aaages, because it’s a holiday weekend here, so the roads were awful and I wound up going the back roads, figuring that I’d rather go slowly with a nice view than queue down the motorway.
Now I just need to get ready for my leaving party tomorrow. I’d prefer to just go to bed, but I’m organising it, so I kinda have to go buy food, really.
I’ve got a peach cake in the oven. We shall sample it tonight, and if it passes, I’ll bring some tomorrow to BooFaeFest! It’s in a 9X13 pan, so it’ll be easy to cut into small squares and pack in a proper plastic container. Hope it’s good. It smells good!
You’re going to scritch somebody else’s ass?
Entered the expressway right between two oversized vehicles. There was a cop behind the second one preventing anybody from passing (because of their length it took more than a whole lane in the curves). Passed the front one & then there was no cars for a while.
Well, I murdered another mousie last night. I hope that’s the last of them.
Mom, you say one of your sisters lived on baloney n butter sammichs? Past tense? What happened to her? Or don’t you want to talk about it?
Butters, antibiotics will do that. Can I recommend ginger ale? Actually, I keep a tin of candied ginger around for things like that, but some people don’t care for it.
It should just take 'em a couple of days, really; the golden rule on moving bees is to move them under 3 feet or over 3 miles. Under 3 feet, all the bees will find the hive fine and will just shrug all their tiny shoulders and get on with it; over 3 miles, none of the bees should bump into anywhere they recognise, so they may get a bit confused, but should all just stay put in the new place. If you try and do something in the middle, you do run the risk of lots of the workers, or if you’re really unlucky, the whole colony, finding their old home and heading back.
**Bumba **- my sis is quite alive, unless something has happened since this morning. I was referring to her sammich preference as a child. Her lunches at school were either baloney and butter or american cheese and butter - either one on white bread. She was, and is, a picky eater.
The peach cake is cut up and packaged for tomorrow. I think I should have gone a bit lighter with the nutmeg. I’ll make a note for next time. I just brought in and stowed the clean laundry. And, oddly enough, I have a hankerin’ for a fast food burger for supper. Maybe the hankerin’ will pass. We shall see.
Majik Intartoobz pizza has been ingested. It was not as satisyin’ as it usually is so I shall need a nosh later I reckon.
I went to the nursin’ home to check on JDD’s ‘rents. Mr. Frank, well, he’s doin’ as well as expected for someone under hospice care. He’s comfortable but drifts in and out. He knew me so I count that as a plus. At one point he told me he needed to get himself better so he can get back home to take care of Becky (JDD’s mom), then he said he’ll be glad when the hospital lets him go home now that the operation is over, and then he told me the next time I go through town to pick him up a bottle of Robitussin. Miss Becky has lost her upper teeth. Apparently she took 'em out of her mouth and chucked 'em toward her bedside table but they probably landed in the trash can which has since been emptied. Like JDD said, if she just tossed 'em rather than placed ‘em on the table and they did land in the trash it’s not the nursin’ home’s fault if they got thrown out because who would think, “let me look in the trash to see if there are any dentures in there before I empty it out.” Actually that did happen once before but someone did notice they were in the trash can. That was luck!
Butters what Bumba said about the ginger ale. Ginger ale settles my tummy better than most anything. I drink just ginger ale for that. Other times a little bourbon will find its way into the ginger ale cause ginger ale 'n bourbon is da bomb!
MadWabbit the stew thing was good. Matter fact the remains of it will be tomorrow’s dindin. Stew is another one of those make it up as I go things.
Now wait a minute.
Consider someone hooking up my house trailer and moving it three feet or to Memphis. I’m not going to hitch hike back to my five acres in the woods, I’m going to beg borrow or steal a truck and take the trailer back.
