Hi, I’m new here.
Female/23/8 partners,4 male, 4 female,
STD scares-none
pregnancys-one
Hi, I’m new here.
Male, 28 yrs., married. 1 partner under a strict definition; I usually think of it as 3. (#1 in high school included very frequent serious petting including oral sex; one evening in particular almost went “all the way” except my dad drove up; I broke it off when I stopped loving her even though I could have faked it long enough to get laid. #2 in college, similar deal, including one incidence of brief genital-genital contact which I broke off because I didn’t like her very much and didn’t want to remember her as my first; I was obviously rather more of a jerk with her than I had been with #1. Then a few months later I met the future Mrs. Cliffy.)
The wife has had 7 I belive, which caused me some problems near the beginning of our relationship but that was years ago.
Female, 19 on monday, in a serious relationship.
Partners: 1.
Problems? My boyfriend has had about 7 I think (see the thread about Little Bird worrying about her parters number for more elucidation on the topic.)
Male. 30. Straight. Married 3 years.
2 sexual partners if you use the Clinton definition.
3 if you use SqrlCub’s.
Problems? Only on rare occasions, in my mind, when I contemplate the fact that I married the second lady I had sex with. And when I remember that the first girl was SO awful.
I can’t possibly entertain regrets, because what I have is so damn good. But sometimes I’ll admit I do wonder…
Male, 51, could write a book
Married 11 years - Late '60’s to late '70’s - remember “swinging”?
single for about 7 years - lots of dry spells (“wet” ones too
Travelled on business all over N.Amer.)
married for 2 blissful years to that fucking-psycho-shit-for-brains-mother-fucking-cunt-crusted-backstabbing-slug-fuck (but I’m not bitter).
Married 10 years - monogamous - 2 kids (so I’m getting waaaaay too little)
All tolled - about a hundred?
Welcome JRT.
Have I posted to this thread yet? Ahh well.
Will echo Tygr, 3 if you include oral, 2 if you don’t. 1 STD, from my first lover. Age 21. All partners male.
Both lovers have been pleasurable, thought my current is MUCH more interested in getting me off than the previous one was (this leads me to believe guys with big dicks expect their dicks to do the work for them. But that’s a topic for another thread.)
21/male/single(by choice)
number of partners…5
NOTE: not in nay particular order
Full sex with 2 females( one married w/2 kids and 18 years my senior, one a year younger than me, but already very experienced…hell she has a two-yr-old daughter )
Everything but full sex incl oral with 1 female(different to the previous 2), was a serious relationship, she was a virgin, but had started talking about going on the pill, but I didnt love her, so I broke it off, I didn’t want the grief of being her first, then her finding out that I didn’t love her
Everything but full sex incl oral with 2 males. One of them is one of my best friends, who has been out for the last 3 years, we’ve done it about 6 times, but never gone all the way. I don’t believe in anal sex, wether it be with a male OR female. The other was a one-nite thing that I very much regret.
I am a straight guy, who sometimes get’s homosexual urges, but not enough to be bisexual, I am comfortable with that, and know I can stay faithful to the right girl, if she ever comes along.
I will cheerfully disagree with you. I’m not HUGE, but I’m above average (my claim-to-fame on this is one girl, who has two children, commenting that she didn’t think it was going to fit, and she would always be sore for at least a day after). But, I guess for you to see my point of view, we’ll have to…you know…
You don’t believe it exists?
–Cliffy
Hope your current doesn’t read that because boy does it sound like you just said he has a small dick. (j/k)
AND
I could have sworn that your claim to fame was performing oral sex on a girl for an hour and a half and making her orgasm 27 times.
No offense man but I am starting to think of you as the Paul Bunyan of the sex world.
Well, this is pretty typical of how these surveys turn out with the men claiming way more lovers than the ladies. Somebody’s lying.
Not necessarily. How many of the above numbers represent same sex relations? Also, it is possible (and I think, likely) that many woman with higher numbers have simply not responded, and men with low number as well. Not posting your an answer is hardly lying.
I think that, traditionally, men gave higher-than-honest numbers and women gave lower-than-honest numbers. But I hope we’ve outgrown that-- especially StraightDope types.
Now, if you buy the generally accepted assumption that men are more likely to be promiscuous, use prostitutes, and/or cheat on their spouses…then the figures look pretty accurate to me.
All that said…what do the numbers really tell us, if anything? There are so many factors involved in one’s final tally. For instance: the person who has had one partner in 30 years looks a little prudish next to the person who has had 90. But suppose the 1-partner person has wild, kinky sex several times daily and the other one just has so-so sex three times a year?
Curious,
TN*hippie
Oh, and Beltane makes some good points.
IMHO, prostitution alone could account for the “partner gap.” One lady of the evening could have 1000 or more partners a year…but she is not likely to participate in surveys like this.
19 years old.
female (duh!)
currently 3 months into a relationship, which is mostly long distance.
easy stuff over.
1 full-on lesbian experience
( girlfriend for 4 months when i was 16)
14 men who have had sex with me
1 MFM threesome
(which wasn’t full sex, so i’m not counting it, just mentioning it by-the-bye)
1 man i have made love with (irishfella, the current guy who i love.)
tot that up as you will.
it makes pretty bad reading.
irishfella incedentally, has had 4 girlfriends. and has no problem with what i did or how i did it.
Male, 25, 45 sexual(involved insertion) partners. All female.
No STD’s except I have had the crabs once and “non-specific urethuritis” twice. I have knowingly had unprotected sex with two partners who had herpes but did not receive it since they weren’t experiencing an outbreak.
I have had one FMF and two MMF’s.
Thanks, pez, he did read it last night.
My ex was too big for me. I prefer my current. Lots and lots and lots of aggressive vaginal sex with 0 orgasms and NO help is VERY FRUSTRATING. I got off more with current the first week than with the 10 months with my ex.
SD, too bad I’ll never know, hmm?
I’m sure you won’t miss out on a thing.
Hey, I’ll take that compliment.
I figure I could have a claim to fame orally, and another involving full sexual contact. It’s kind of like a resume where you list all of yours strengths, and ignore your weaknesses.
Beltane and TN*hippie:
Regarding the influence of same sex relations: This would matter only if gay/bi men tended to be more promiscuous than gay/bi women. That may indeed be the case, but I have no knowledge of it. Additionally, keep in mind that gays and bisexuals only make up from 2% to 10% of the population (depending on who’s counting). That would further dilute the influence of same sex relationships.
Regarding women with high counts and men with low counts not responding: That may well be the case, but if so it would follow that men have a bias to fudge upward and women have a bias to fudge downward. Bill Clinton notwithstanding, most men will count oral sex as sex, but maybe women wouldn’t. Still, perhaps saying someone is lying is a bit strong, but they are still fudging.
Regarding promiscuity and cheating: Assuming we are talking about heterosexuals, the promiscuous and cheating guys are doing it with women, so the numbers should even out.
Regarding prostitutes: Here is where a legitimate difference could come in. I believe there was a fellow who included about twenty Tailand prostitutes in his count. The prostitutes that he had probably had thousands of partners, but it’s unlikely that they are regular contributers the the SDMB, so their experiences won’t be reflected here.
The differences between the men’s and women’s counts on this survey are actually quite a bit less than what I’ve seen on similar surveys. I remember one in particular in which the men claimed more than two-to-one partners over the women.
I can pretty well say that in general, gay men are much more promiscuous than lesbians are. Triple digit numbers of sexual partners are not terribly unusual for experienced gay men, but you rarely hear about such numbers from lesbians. Part of this may be fudging, but I doubt that is a considerable factor in this area.
I can attest to the truth of this. I included in my count oral sex as well as penetrative sex. I did not count a woman that I was involved in a m/m/f threesome with, because she does not count it as having had sex, even though we did have oral sex. I figured if she didn’t count it then neither should I (I had sex with her but she didn’t with me… How would that work?)
It has always amazed me what some people, (more women than men, but men as well) will not count as sex. If you exclude everything but penis in vagina (as in the case of the so-called “virgin slut”)then I have only had sex with one person. Some of the posters here who have sex hundreds of times would be virgins by this definition. I think maybe for a poll like this to be more accurate you would need to include a definition of what constitutes sex, because otherwise people are going to bring their own biases to the definition. The movie “Chasing Amy” had a great discussion on this subject.
