Sorry, I’ve still got the shakes from going a few hours without booze, so typos are to be expected! Dopefests are just hard to stop cold turkey . . .

The whole gang was great - we met some really cool people, and we decided that we’ll be flying in to visit during the first week of January every year.

Damn…this is tough.
First off: To the people who ended up with beer in their laps due to my having a clutz attack this weekend: I hope all the rounds that I bought got me back in your good graces. My spilling stuff, bumping people, breaking things, etc. could be a post in itself, but I shall refrain. (I made sure to stay at least 10 feet from the dinosaur exhibits)

RTFirefly- First doper I met, and now that I am home I see an email from you saying to meet up at the hotel. Very cool. (I will second the hotel web service comment)
Biggirl & beerchick- Two sweethearts, and it sucks that you couldn’t be there saturday BG.
Manhattan- Thanks for the retirement advice; It will be used.
TKeana & Burner- Two of the freakin’ coolest people I have ever met, and had better damned well be in Norfolk next month. (Perhaps a quick Virginia fest?)
Jersey Diamond & Joe_Cool- For being old friends even though we had never spoken in any medium before.
Dave & Ginger- As great as I had imagined, and thank you for the cell number…It made me feel much better about being in a strange place.
Oxymoron- Wish we had more time to chat, and please do the tour again next year.
Jess- I will still be all over you, even though you ignored me 
Soda- Oh man…I’m not even going there again. Damn.

Persephone- Hope things work out.
andygirl- For being a sweetheart, and giving me a hug goodbye.
Banger & waterj2- Man, I have a soft spot for you guys…too bad Banger’s floor didn’t. There has got to be some great stories out of those hours we spent together…unfortunately they all involve me being the butt of the joke, so thus are not funny when I tell them. (Any bets on what our BAC was at noon the following day?) Re: Your bookcase Banger- I dunno how the hell it happened, but I think everything got put back in the right place…figured I would wait to mention it once I was 300 miles away.
And finally billdo- For fussing when I should have checked links, explaining to me about being in NYC, and generally being nice to a southern boy with no clue.
Honourable mention- Thanks for the number you put in my pocket barkeep Girl- But you are kind of far for me to make dinner this week. Sorry Hotel Desk Clerk, but if you had said “I have a husband” at the start, I wouldn’t have wasted our time. (Wear a ring dammit!) Thank you ** Stereotypical Brooklyn Cab Driver**- It meant a lot, and no…I won’t forget.
To all of those I have not mentioned- You were great too, and were probably not spoken of due to me being afraid of having a mile long post. But what the hell…it was my first dopefest, so I am entitled to be longwinded.

I wanted to thank crankyasanoldman and Maeglin for their enormous hospitality, Dynosaur for being a MAD DRIVING FIEND, and Billdo, Green Bean, Vix, Manhattan, et al for planning and organizing everything. Oh, and the women, for being so tempting and lovely. And the backrubs.
I didn’t get to meet everyone I wanted to meet, and I didn’t get to spend NEARLY enough time with some people, but I met a bunch of people I’d never even noticed online before, and they were tres cool. A good, good time. Now, everyone get ready for Chidope, k?

I had an absolutely terrific time this weekend. Big thanks to Maeglin for putting us up. Mnementh for driving us in and Billdo for organizing everything and for the brunch. Big kisses to everyone. I have noticed one downside of dopefests, however: once I meet you and like you, I miss you until I see you again.

I wrote this page this morning BY HAND FROM SCRATCH and was thwarted only by the fact that my Verizon web space apparently does not want to grant me the 5 megs I needed for these pictures. Fortunately, Tark eked out some space for me, and my pics can now be found here behind this here linky-thing.
I’m going to write up a review myself tomorrow, probably. Right now I need to recover from fighting with web hosts all damned day long. Er, I mean “durned.”
