I always reserve the right to just not address that member at all. So yes, even goofy made up pronouns.

There was a city and there was fire within it therefore, by the power of Pretzel Potato Logic, the city was on fire in the past and is now burned.
Now I’m curious if such a thing is possible. See what you did? Off to GQ.

It’s possible. Potato logic, potato math, potato grammar… potato land is full of possibilities.
Obvious troll is obvious boring.
Aw, you mean I wasted my time trying to take you seriously? You mean you t-worded me? Aw!
Your post wasn’t serious.
Dude, I made an honest attempt to understand this passage.
You prefer “the abhorrent” over The State, right? Who is abhorrent and why are they more qualified to determine your freedoms? Notice I’m not telling you to fuck off or choke on your own ink like 99% of the SDMB. I’m breaking away from the hive mind. I’m asking you to enlighten us. This is your chance to impart your wisdom and solve the world’s problems.
If “order” is so goddamned important in your political outlook, you’re not really interested in restraining the power of the state. So let’s nip that bullshit in the bud right now.
Ok. I’ll clarify. I support broad individual rights even if used to express abhorrent, obscene, perverse, or blasphemous sentiments or images. I do not support the concentration of power into the hands of those who run the state or their brown shirts.
This is not a novel or alien concept in the USA. Unfortunately, the radical left is an enemy of liberty and think they have the unique wisdom and virtue to dictate what’s acceptable to discuss, debate, or think. It’s amazing that their unholy influence even extends to message boards.
And I doubt anyone here will consider this post wise. And I am under no illusion that the world’s problems are solvable with reason.
But yesterday you appeared to agree with me that the White House’s encouragement of violence, and outright orders to commit brutal violence against peaceful protesters, are far greater threats to free speech than a handful of largely powerless but violent randoms sprinkled among the very large number of entirely peaceful protesters. Backtracking?
I think America was great when universities were where you went to hear people speak about ideas that challenged and disturbed ones worldview.
Sadly now the left only wants people to speak if they are in agreement.
If we could go back to the level of intellectual curiosity that used to be promoted, yah, that’d be great.
That still happens.
You are sadly mistaken.
If the people who came to speak about their ideas were promoting ideas that were true, or at least consistent, then that’d be great. If the people who wanted them to come speak wanted them to speak in order to challenge their own worldview, that’d be great too.
Unfortunately, what happens is that people invite others to speak who will reinforce their own twisted, inconsistent, and ultimately wrong and harmful worldview.
That those actions are met with objection is not a lack of intellectual curiosity on those who are against spreading ignorance.
A university is completely worthless if it doesn’t allow Ben Shapiro to come by and explain why music that portrays women enjoying sex is evil and wrong and will corrupt our children, but music that glorifies men enjoying sex is just fine.
I have not seen where Ben was ok with songs glorifying men having sex.
Perhaps you could lead me to the post or video.
I googled it and couldn’t find support for the position that Ben is OK with songs that glorifies men having sex.
A little help.
Reference to Stripes where the basketball is returned to the second story apartment by smashing through a different window than what it went out of.
Ready to give a Bill Murray “Thank you”.
Has Ben made any videos declaring a moral panic over songs that glorify men having sex?
There’s your answer.
Octopus- “I am such a genius when it come to jerking people around!”
MrMrmrmr- “Hold my beer.”
I never said they were greater. I said I could perhaps join the chorus of denunciation, here, when the right is acting improperly.
