Octopus here's your own thread to shit all over

And speakers on the right are met with rioters who employ, with the implicit support of universities and local politicians, a violent hecklers veto.

I declare a thumb war.

Ha! Talking about wet ass pussy? The lyrics of which if shared by a poster in MPSIMS or such would result in 15 ATMB threads, 100000 posts, 5 bans, and 22 flounces?

Was it you who objected to a shoot-em-up video game removing swastikas? You don’t like censorship of any kind, right? Do you think The State is responsible for censorship in all cases? I’m pretty sure whoever made the video game was more concerned about customers refusing to buy their game because of the swastikas.

Who to you is the radical left? antifa? BLM? Anybody who’s political affiliation starts with D? How do you connect the radical left with censorship? Do you think anarchists and the politically correct are the same subset?

Too many questions, and I’m sure you don’t feel like answering them, so I’ll take Discourse’s brown shirt advice and limit responding to you to the third time so that others can participate.

Precisely.

Do you really think this is some kind of “gotcha”? There are many places where those lyrics would by inappropriate. A middle school dance is one. MPSIMS is another.

There are also places where it is inappropriate for a woman to have enjoyable sex.

The problem is that Ben seems to think that EVERY place is an inappropriate place for those things, because he is a sad, backwards, repressed little man.

Well then that’s really dumb. The White House encouraging and especially ordering violence and chaos is a far, far greater threat to free speech than a relatively tiny number of powerless looters among the huge number of peaceful protesters.

I find it hard to believe anyone is honestly confused by this. If you want to ban abhorrent stuff you have to empower someone to decide what is abhorrent. Then whoever you empowered, whether the state, big tech or whatever, may decide that what you want to say or do is abhorrent too, and censor you. Which means you have less freedom.

Ahh yes, the freedom to use someone else’s platform as if it was yours.
Sadly, Roosevelt forgot ‘The freedom to post on Facebook’ in his list.

I think they are entirely appropriate in Cafe Society if the title included an adult content disclaimer. I don’t think we need to infantilize the women around here.

Who is advocating for restricting the right to say abhorrent things?

$10s of millions of fire and looting damage and theft is not powerless.

It’s much, much less powerful than the WH ordering the brutalization of peaceful protesters, and rhetorically advocating for chaos and violence.

And for the whole country, those numbers are indeed relatively powerless.

I disagree that the target of arrest and prosecution were actual peaceful protesters. The targets were rioters, arsonists, looters, and those engage in assaults on civilians and the police. It was rightful to arrest AND prosecute those who were engaged in actual criminal behavior. It’s not accurate to suggest those engaged in legitimate protest were the primary target.

Furthermore, while folks do have a right to peaceful protest during a pandemic I’d have liked to see a bit of social distancing. It’s funny how leftist politicians and the media twisted logic to excuse irresponsible and criminal behavior.

I’m not talking about arrest and prosecution. I’m talking about brutalization. The administration ordered federal agents and troops to brutalize peaceful protesters in DC, Portland, and elsewhere. And those agents and troops carried out those orders.

Well, there is this guy that constantly complains about people’s ‘potty mouths’…

Brutalizations of peaceful protesters is wrong. Participating in a looting spree, arson spree, occupation of a city center, and violent assault is also wrong and should have been stopped and those who were part of it arrested and prosecuted.

That’s what makes the Antifa folk so stupid. They don’t realize that their criminal behavior is highly counterproductive and makes them the bad guys.

And purposeful state brutalization of peaceful protesters, like this administration engaged in, is a million times more harmful to free speech than a very small number of assholes looting and rioting.

Yes. Doesn’t mean I want you prohibited from being a potty mouth. Now, if you violate the rules here I’d like to see that equally enforced even though they aren’t such as with shodan. But, I don’t write the rules here.

So, I’m free to comment on your language and you are free to express yourself. I don’t want you silenced, to lose a job, get kicked out of school, have your dog leave you, or ‘consequenced’ in any way for exercising your rights. I’m not a head sawing Islamic fundamentalist or a leftist so I support your right to be a draw cartoons or be a potty mouth.

That’s your opinion.
