“Probably”? Jebus, woman, the only reason you’re not in the hospital right now is that doctors have decided it’s better to have people rest at home that risk hospital infections!
I know you’re in bed as I write this, but dang, woman, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO REST, not make your coworkers sick and risk life and limb on the way!
Today is Middlebro’s birthday. It is also an occasion he hadn’t celebrated for years: ever since he started dating SiL, every celebration has been about her and anything which could not be about her did not exist; she’s the only person I’ve heard talking about “my anniversary” instead of “the wedding anniversary” or “our wedding anniversary” or “our anniversary”; she’s also known to get jealous of her children when they’re praised in front of her (woman, that’s supposed to be praise for you, too!). But ah, this year He Who Can Ask Such Things said “how are we celebrating Daddy’s birthday?” and of course nobody had the cajones de cojones which would be needed to say “oh, we’re not, only Mom and you children get to celebrate them”.
So tonight I don’t have to think up dinner And, since Mom is out of town, we won’t have the two Queen Bees fighting over the throne, yay!
It’s stormy over here, no rain yet but it’s just that kind of stormy feeling in the atmosphere. I have another morning session of exam paper splitting but I’m waiting for a call back to tell me what time I need to go and help out.
Tonight we’re off to a comedy event, it’s a fundraiser for a local cat charity which is the only reason I’m going. I’ve been to these events before and they’re usually pretty dire so I’m not expecting much. Since it’s in the opposite direction to our usual pubs, I’ll be driving so I won’t even get the benefit of a drop of alcohol. Oh well, at least tomorrow I’ll be polishing my halo.
BooFae try not to get the halo too shiny. I mean, both of our halos shinin’ together might just be too much light.
Puggy what Nava said. Stay home and rest!
ShinyCat yay on finals bein’ over. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for your Flash final grade.
I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for fried chicken livers. Thus that shall be tonight’s dindin along with some sort of vegetation. Quit yuckin’! Chicken livers are good.
Well, I see how things are working around here. I stopped by HR to turn in my absense forms and the HR Director asked me how I was doing and in the same breath informed me that if I was out 3 days in a row I needed a doctor’s note. Guys, I sound like death warmed over and I had only actually been out one and a half days. I realize it is probably because I am still within my probationary period but I see a lot of CMA in my future.
bobbio, yep, I think it’s time to thin the herd. Sounds like fostering isn’t a really good idea any longer.
boofae, you gots to do it just like they did to you. Don’t ask for help, just schedule everyone. It’s worth a try.
Yesterday my air-headedness (is too a word!) scared me!
Since I started on the insulin, it’s become a routine:
Put test strip in meter.
Prick finger.
Put blood to test strip.
Read the result.
Put all the stuff back in the carrier.
Dial insulin pen to 10 units.
Screw on new needle.
Inject in belly.
Discard needle.
Put away pen.
Wait 15 minutes, then eat.
Yesterday i started to eat and absolutely could not remember if I had actually dialed the pen to ten. I was thinking I injected nothing. So I didn’t know what to do! I had already started eating. I called my diabetes clinic, and they calmed me down. Check your glucose in one hour, and in two hours. If it’s over 250 call us back.
Well, I must have taken the insulin, because it didn’t go over 180.
:smack:
I simply must pay attention to this stuff!!! Routines are good things to help you remember, but that also become… well… routine!
I’ll try to get the PB brownies recipe for you, rigs. Unfortunately, it was cut out of a magazine so it’s not online (that I know of). So the recipe is at home where I don’t usually go online and I’m at work where I am online but where I don’t have access to the recipe. Usually I can remember ingredients for a day or two and would just write it up, but I was doing about 5 things at the same time while making them the other night and just don’t feel confident about remembering the ingredients. So I’ll try to remember to pick up the recipe and bring it to work.
My chicken pot pie last night was good. I make good biscuit topping for chick pot pie.
I’ve had a productive couple days at work, but now I just don’t feel like being here.
I should go into the vegetable playground business.
We’ve got a couple of those “topsy-turvy” tomato planters, and it was quickly noted that the wrought iron things we had them hanging from were not strong enough.
So, a quick trip to Lumberland later, I’ve built what looks like a tot-sized wooden swingset, but instead of swings, tomato plants are swinging in the breeze.
I’d be interested in that recipe, too, Taxi, if you don’t mind sharing. Missus Coder and I are going to some friends on Saturday, and we’re bringing dessert. I was trying to think what might work for this, and your brownies sound great.
gotti the planter stand the topsy turvy 'maters are supposed to hang on ain’t real sturdy as you have learned. This year I have returned to the traditional stick the 'maters in a big planter and stake 'em up way. I’m sure I shall get better 'maters. I mean, the topsy turvy thing did ok last year but I actually had to stake the wrought iron stand to make it stand up, so it ain’t like I saved any work.
Anybody else growin’ any vegetative matter this year?
I had a gyne visit today, routine checkup. They asked, as usual, when was my last period. “Today”. Nurse and doc looked at each other in dismay, “another one!” Sounds like the freaking town is synched…
In further and extremely important news, my lower back is killing me.
Sorry, I forgot to pick up the recipe at lunch. I’ll try again tomorrow, but memory at home for things that I should take to work is nearly nonexistent.
Gotti, I’ve got beets, carrots, spinach, and lettuce in the ground; these are hearty enough to survive a mild frost, which we got this week and still could get next week. On the 22nd or 23rd, we should be past frost risk so I’ll pick up 2-3 tomato plants and a bell pepper plant and put them in as well. We only have two 2’x4’ boxes for veggies so that, and some herbs, is all I can grow.
My house stinks. It smells like something died in here. It’s not the garbage. I’m wondering if a mouse got stuck under a cabinet or something. I’m in no mood to search right now. I did not need this.
Yesterday, it barely got over 50°, and right now, it’s 80°! That only added to the aroma, as I’d left the house mostly closed today. It’s airing out at the moment, so there’s that.
I found my debit card. Guess where it was?? In my wallet, in its usual pocket. I don’t know why I didn’t see it either time I searched yesterday. But this morning, I looked one last time before calling, and there it was. I’m losing my mind…
London broil in the rotiss for supper. Plus sides TBD. And tonight, I’m supposed to help daughter put the new chest of drawers together, then start moving furniture up to the guest bedroom. That should be fun, eh?
BBBobbio there was no N.O.T. sallit crisis. I’m not sure that a lack of N.O.T. sallit would constitute a crisis the way a lack of cake does cause cake is, well, cake. I made the N.O.T. sallit to go with the fried chicken livers which have been consumed happily by the both of us. YUM! N.O.T. sallit goes good with fried chicken livers.
-swampbear (goin’ for the record for how many times N.O.T. sallit can be used in one post)
N.O.T. sallit Is N.O.T. sallit that N.O.T. sallit a N.O.T. sallit challenge N.O.T. sallit ? Because N.O.T. sallit you N.O.T. sallit should N.O.T. sallit know N.O.T. sallit by N.O.T. sallit now N.O.T. sallit I N.O.T. sallit am N.O.T. sallit quite N.O.T. sallit competitive N.O.T. sallit .
