Off to the rodeo, a delayed MMP

Rebo, that’s scary. Glad your clinic calmed you down.
Can’t. Focus. Eyes. Today. Many bad nights in a row, and Gnat is giving up his afternoon nap. Feel like death.

So, I have a question. Does anyone else think rosie is competitive? No? Didn’t think so.

:stuck_out_tongue:

gotti: I want a vegetable swingset!

Feel better soon, Puggy!

Hope life gets calmer sometime soon, LiLi. You’re still calling for quiet time even if he’s not sleeping, right? Or trying to?

Routine can be unnerving sometimes, can’t it, Rebo? Glad things worked out well.

I have some lettuce, peas and radishes outside and have starts for tomatoes, peppers, leeks, cucumbers and all kinds of veggies and herbs indoors. Most of them are going in containers, although I might start building frames for square-foot gardening.

I used to really like chicken livers, but at some point I decided to merely tolerate them.

Stressful day - working on a document that my boss and I aren’t seeing completely eye-to-eye on. I’m having problems getting a good start on it, so I’ve been working on the middle. Started to have a breakthrough at the end of the day, so maybe I’ll be able to get it into shape tomorrow. Really need to have it done by then so that I can move on to other stuff.

But now I’ma surf a bit and find dinner (just had a snack of almonds, dried cherries and chocolate chips).

Hugs.

I’ve had a run of little stuff to piss me off (LOL how would BBBBBobbio put that?!). I won’t share the bigger ones, but here’s what happened today:

I got up early so I could get in early (theoretically!) in order to earn some credit time, but the bus conspired against me and was 40 minutes late, so I missed my connection. The next bus was late also (only 15 minutes this time …) so instead of getting to work a little after 7 AM, I got there about 7:45 am. This afternoon, I was able to earn about 15 minutes of credit time, and went out to catch the bus. Conspired against again! The bus was 25 minutes late, so I missed my connection and had to wait 30 minutes for the next bus. While waiting, fortunately in a covered area, it started to storm - t-boomers. And that bus was late also, about 15 minutes. Instead of getting home a little after 5 pm, it was after 6 when I walked in the door. The frosting on this cake was that the young kids upstairs must have been playing in their bathroom, thus leading me to get an unexpected shower whilst I was on the toilet!

And that’s only the small things … I have been reading, though, and give my hugs to those who are in need of them. At least it was hump day and there are only two more days to go this week…

Come on, FIRDAY!!!

WELL, What good ARE you?!? Off with her head, I say.

I got up very early to be at work very early and I arrived downtown at 0727 and then waited 30 minutes for a bus. I WANT to be green, but goddamn, it’s getting harder. Tarragon–we must have needed the same bus! I hate the bus–I don’t care that its wheels go round and round…

I was at a Tech Fair all day, showing peoples how to access the library. It’s quite difficult: you go on the intranet for the hospital and click on “library”. Peoples were amazed and confounded. I came home early.

MIL is in major meltdown mode–this is going to get BAD in the next 10 days as she moves to her new house. I truly feel sorry for TH these past few weeks. She’s emotionally manipulative and verbally abusive. A joy to be with…
Didn’t read the rest because I am THAT tired. I’m sure you all are coping just fine with whatever life has handed you today. And if not, tomorrow is another day.

Lookee, WhyNot is back!

Have not had further dinner.

Should do more, but am not very motivated.

Off to surf a bit more.

N.O.T. sallit OOPS!

N.O.T. sallit Rosie yes I am quite aware you are competitive. N.O.T. sallit However, I am not. N.O.T. sallit As a matter of fact I think it’s quite childish to act in such a way! N.O.T. sallit You should be ashamed of yourself. N.O.T. sallit Really. N.O.T. sallit Act like a grownup. N.O.T. sallit I’m just glad the rest of us don’t feel the need to act so immature. I went to church tonight. It was an “Ascension Eve” service. Tomorrow is Ascension Day and is a major feast day of the church. If you need to know what it’s all about, well, google it. Y’all know how.

And now this…

I started a post and then got sidetracked by 15 pounds of ground beef and 10 pounds of chicken. Now I’m here and the kitchen is a disaster.

ETA: Those damn health insurance people reassured me that they would call me back TODAY. They didn’t and I just called them and found out that their office closed at 7 p.m. EST.

Watched two hockey games at once, and helped win a trivia contest at the bar at the same time(I am a font of useless knowledge). 15 hour of blurf tomorrow.

I am growing spuds in a couple of tubs this year. It’s my first experiment in growing anything, and if you saw the state of my ‘garden’, you’d understand why.

Last night we went to a charity comedy fundraiser for a local cat rescue centre - it was a very good night, the comedians were excellent but the guy from the comedy club who’d put posters up for the event had put the wrong date on it. See, they usually run their own comedy club on a Thursday night at the same venue, this one was on a Wednesday. He got things muddled in his head and so put Thursday’s date on the posters. The acts were all booked for Wednesday, but there were only about a dozen people who turned up. It was still very funny though.

They’ve promised to run another night next month and give the proceeds to the cat rescue place too so that’s going to be good for the moggies. I was driving though, so no midweek beers for me.

'im indoors had a telephone interview for a job on Tuesday morning, they called back and said they can’t decide between the candidates and want face-to-face interviews next Tuesday. In Edinburgh. So he will probably be arranging to go up there and combine it with a quick visit to his friends and his mum while he’s there. Sadly that means he’ll be away on his birthday but I think we’ll survive the experience. There was also an ad appeared yesterday for a job that looks suspiciously like a 6-month contract he did last year in Wigan so he might apply for that one as well. Appropriate (or inappropriate) appendage-crossing would be appreciated!

Other than that, it’s one day closer to Firday and that’s about all I’ve got.

Good luck to 'im Indoors. I’ll just think good thoughts, though, because I’ve got a TON of work this morning and might get burnt if I tried to work with crossed fingers, etc.

Last night I had a dream that something bad happened to a particular mumper’s family member. I’ll not tell you who or what lest you think I have it in for you. Besides, I’ve never been psychic before in my life and I don’t think I am now. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s Thursday and I’ve survived so far. I am improving but not as much as I would like. I still have a lot of congestion and need to call the doc about that. I think he’ll want to do a nebulizer but I don’t know how I’ll work that out.

And, just for you, rosie

N.O.T. SALLIT!!!

Appendages crossed for 'im indoors! All hail the power of the MMP!!

Tupug

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Or afternoon if you’re BooFae, Nava or Special1. Up and caffienatin’. Even filled out some job apps already. Go Me.

It promises to be a really nice day, ie in the low 90s. I am considerin’ slackin’ off and goin’ to the pool for a while today just cause I can. That would be after it’s finished “super chlorinatin’” that is. I am runnin’ the “super chlorinator” just to make sure the chlorine level in pool is right. That should be done around elevenish this mornin’. I’ve really enjoyed the pool but if I ever live anywhere else it will be sans pool. At that point I’ll be all “been there, done that, bought the tshirt” about a pool.

Ok, in the meantime I need to start some laundry.

Later Y’all!

ETA: BooFae appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for 'im indoors.

I’m glad to see WhyNot back too, gt. She’s a poster I like a lot, and I’d noticed that she was missing.

I’m feeling a little unsure of things (well, one thing) at work. I set up code for a BIG new initiative back in Jan/Feb, and I said at the time that I really really needed people to review it because this is really big and I don’t want to get months in to using it and then find issues. Well, no one had time except one extremely new employee who helped a lot but didn’t really know what we were trying to do or business rules or the like. So yesterday Manager, who’s a great manager, asked for a snippet of the code and then, after looking at it, said “Why are you doing X?” Which I’d swear we’d (meaning Big Boss and some others, but Manager should have been there) talked about. But of course, even though I know you should always CYA, I hadn’t written up in an email after that meeting. So now we only have my word to go on that we agreed to do it that way. Which I think - and thought at the time - was the completely wrong way to do it. But there’s nothing to back up the fact that I said at the time that it was the wrong way to do it. Grrr. This plus another new manager, who’s now doing an extensive review of this, are making me think that this BIG project that I spent months on - and which I begged for review on at the time - is going to undergo a major revision, requiring months more of work. ARGH.

OK, I managed to remember the recipe today. Here it is with my notes included.

Peanut Butter Dots (Brownies)

1/3 C creamy peanut butter (I used natural and it was fine.)
1/3 C powdered sugar
6 Tbsp unsalted butter
4 oz unsweetened chocolate
3 eggs
1 1/3 C sugar (I used 1 C which was plenty sweet for our taste.)
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 C flour
1/4 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 350. Line a 9” sq baking pan with foil; spray foil with Pam. (Note: I used an 8x8 glass pan, sprayed with Pam but without foil… it was fine. Skip the foil.)

Combine PB and powdered sugar in a small bowl until paste forms; roll into 16 balls of about 1 tsp each. (Note: I put these in the freezer to harden up a bit before trying to push them into the batter. I’d recommend doing that, especially if you have natural PB, which is softer at room temperature than the major brands.)

Microwave butter and chocolate in 30-second increments, stirring after each to distribute the heat. (Don’t skip the stirring! The microwave heats unevenly and you will get burned pockets if you don’t stir.) Allow to cool a bit before adding to the egg mixture. (Temp should be below 120 if you have an instant-read thermometer in order to avoid cooking the eggs.)

Beat eggs in med bowl then add in sugar and beat until frothy. Stir in cooled chocolate mixture and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine flour and salt and then add to chocolate mixture and stir to combine. Spread in pan, tapping on counter to smooth top.

Place PB balls on top of chocolate mixture, pressing slightly into batter and arranging so that each bar will have 1 ball in center (i.e. 4x4). (This is where it’s nice to have slightly firmer PB balls from the freezer. It’s really hard to press mooshy, soft PB into the batter.)

Bake 25-30 min or until toothpick inserted 1” from side comes out clean and when inserted in center comes out with a trace of chocolate. (Don’t wait until it comes out completely clean… the brownies are too dry if you do that.) Cool completely on a wire rack. Cut into 16 bars.

I foresee PB Brownies in my near future. YUM!

Ok, Ima go to the pool.

I HAZ JOB!

Irk starts Monday. It’s in Seville, with the same people of the dodged bullet (I know, I know, you all will have the right to spank me and yell at me when things head South), only not exactly. It’s the same final client, but they got tired of consulting firms; they figured, since the people the firms bring in are all subcontractors anyway, they may as well pick one of their own to lead the team and get the subcontractors themselves. Among other things, this means they do the interviews themselves, rather than be expected to believe that all these people who’ve never seen each other before and have never had projects in the same town at the same time have, indeed, worked for the same firm for the last 10 years.

Boss is a woman, so far we’ll be the only female teammembers. I can’t call her Sheboss, though, that was someone else…

Good luck to 'im indoors!

Howzabout FemBoss?

Congrats, Nava! Prayers, good thoughts and best of luck wishes to 'im indoors. And there are peanut butter brownies in our future too, swampbear.

Please keep a coworker of mine and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Her brother has been missing since Tuesday morning.

Church handbells are over for the season, and I miss it already. Hubby and I play in the adult handbell choir, and the kids play in the children’s handbell choir. We help out in that one, so children’s choir is a family thing: we’re practically the entire bass clef. It’s so much fun. Our church doesn’t have some activities during the summer, so we’re out til fall. I’m going to find a solo handbell piece and rework it for four players, so we can ring as a quartet.

My ear’s about to fall off!

WebX training for over an hour - and my speaker phone cuts out, so I have to have the phone to my ear all the time. Boring!!! I was surfing and working at the same time.

I wanna go swimming and **Swampy’s **house!

Yay Nava!

Missing like what? Missing in Iraq or Afghanistan? Or missing like he walked out of the house one day and didn’t come home? In either case, thoughts being sent out.
