Very heavy on the cringe factor–especially the Andy-Pam stuff.
Thought 30 Rock was far funnier last night.

I thought it was a good episode. Leave it to Michael to dress as “dick in a box” guy for a halloween party that invites kids. It looks like they did a special halloween video for the internet. I want to nbc.com to see it, but it won’t download because I’m in Canada. Does anyone know an alternate place to view it?
This was one of the few times that the show was more painful than funny too watch. It is always uncomfortable to a degree, but last night was just awful on the cringey scale. I am really liking that they are focusing more on the Michael-Jim discomfort dynamic than the JAM relationship/ baby dynamic.
Andy was kind of pathetic, but I’m glad that there seems to be a chance with him and Erin.
Shoot, I meant to watch the halloween video but then forgot by the time 30 Rock was over. Will have to check it out tonight.
Ryan seems to be sporting a new hipster look each episode.
I did like seeing the tables get turned on Jim a little. He does have a bit a dick streak, and it was nice to see him get called on it for once.
And also two years after it was the most overdone costume of 2007.
I did like Jim’s “Bookface” costume. And Darryl’s frustration at not having been given a list of everyone’s costumes: “This is surgery, with an octopus and a burn victim.”

I thought this was a great episode. The halloween bit at the beginning was hilarious (particularly for Darryl’s reactions), and Steve Carrell played the koi pond - meeting room - make fun of himself arc very well.
Andy and Pam felt a bit more sitcommy, but funny enough (Andy knows about birthing coaches?) that it was plenty entertaining. And I can totally see Andy and Erin, that would be sweet.
You’re paying way too much for worms. Who’s your worm guy?
But Andy might be gay?
Something has felt wrong about Erin all season but I couldn’t put my finger on it. But now I know, she’s a psycho! Working at D-M is probably her dream job (and not just because of the proximity to Andy “The Coolest Guy Ever” Bernard.
So, season 6 finale, double wedding for Dwight-Angela and Andy-Erin?
I like that we’re starting to see some of Erin’s weirdness. Hand her the fax upside down?? Ooooookkaaaaayy. I’ll be interested to see how that fits into the office dynamic.
I saw that but I couldn’t figure out what was going on. She also had that bit last week where she had to get Michael’s OK to put candy at the front desk. I think she’s going to start showing her wierdness as the season progresses. They do that a lot with the characters, see the Nard Dog and Kelly for example.
I liked it. This felt more like an earlier-season episode in tone and style than the past few weeks have.
The whole opening “scarehouse” scene was a hoot. I loved Michael turning a great spook-house visual into an anti-suicide PSA.
The Pam/Andy scenes had some decent laughs. These are two characters who don’t get to interact one-on-one very often, so it was fun to get a little different dynamic than the usual Pam/Jim, Jim/Dwight, Dwight/Michael, and so on. Andy is actually a really interesting character and I enjoyed seeing a little more into what makes him tick.
And the main storyline was pure classic Office, IMO. Steve Carrell doesn’t always gracefully walk the line between well-meaning but clueless, mostly likeable schlub; and unbelievably bumbling idiot. But he nailed it in this one. Jim’s teflon coating continues to flake away, and I think Krasinski is playing the situation well. And with the inclusion of all the side characters doing what they do best, the whole story was played for laughs that mostly hit the mark.
More painful than funny? I must disagree. Great episode.
Michael: “Do we have any of those clips that hold paper together?”
Erin: “Staples?”
Although super-strict adherence to somewhat non-existant policies (ie, it being terrible to think that the receptionist might see what was being faxed) seems slightly Dwight-like. Does she have the broad hips necessary to bear sturdy Schrute children?
Count me in as someone who liked it. Thought it wasn’t as good as last weeks, imo.
I’m sure Jim’s reflexes are much more reliable than mine, (I’ve played video games my whole life, and my father has perhaps twice, but the first time I ever played Nintendo Wii, [Wii Sports], my father schooled me while insisting that I was letting him win), but if it were me, I don’t think I would ‘save’ Michael either. My reaction time would be off, and even if I did think to grab him, part of me would be contemplating whether I should try, or if there’s a chance I may end up in the pond too.
I like Michael in this episode. Every now and then he takes the high-road. Whether or not Jim’s actually ‘jealous’ of him is questionable, but in Michael’s mind, it was enough not to rub his nose in it. Andy and Pam didn’t make me cringe that much. Michael’s confession’s did a little, but I always love getting small details on Michael’s past periodically.
Erin’s not secure, and doesn’t like makeing dessisions becaue she’s afraid to make the wrong one. I can relate to that. My poor boss needs to spell sh*t out for me, because I’m too afraid to trust my judgment.
I half-expected a confession from Michael that he was responsible for the graphic designers insistence that both he and Jim meet with them. His pleasure that they asked for him was un-Michael – too quiet and unassuming. An innocent Michael would have rubbed it in a bit more. But the confession never came, so I guess I owe Michael an apology.
