* * * ! Official 2016 US Presidential Election Day Thread ! * * *

I agree with you.

This is going to be, literally, the lowest point of influence the Democrats have been in since…forever.

I thought you said we shouldn’t trust exit polls.

I’ve been a Mormon my entire life and never once, both inside and outside of Utah, have I ever been asked to vote for a particular candidate. I didn’t vote for Hillary or Trump and I’m upset that Trump won. Your language makes it out that we’re all brainwashed people who never think for themselves.

Additionally when they repeal Obamacare and everyone’s premiums continue to go up what’s going to be his excuse?

I think I’m going to binge watch The West Wing tomorrow, and pretend CNN is the fictional drama series.

Democrats are probably going to win the popular vote and lose the electoral college AGAIN. Screw this stupid, convoluted system; screw the fact that a Wyoming citizen is somehow more valuable than a Cali citizen; screw the fact that we’re going to have to see Trump’s obese face giving neanderthal speeches for 4 fucking years.

Thanks, Obama! And I mean that sincerely. Gonna miss ya.

Golly, everyone ran such thoughtful and respectful campaigns I wish they all could win!

With such elevated discourse like we’ve seen in this election, democracy and our western civilization have reached new heights. Yay for us all!

Looks tragic.

But, let’s wait until the fat lady sings, okay?

My thoughts exactly. It was nice having my blood pressure and depression in check for a while I guess.

There’s been a lot of talk this evening about financial markets being down precipitously tonight. But is that really due to “Donald Trump looks like he’s going to win”? Or is it more a case of “What we all thought was going to happen, looks like it’s not happening”? If there is one thing that the financial markets don’t like, it’s uncertainty.

And with everyone so certain that they knew what was going to happen, and with it looking more and more like they were all very much incorrect, does the reaction really have that much to do with the actual result, or just the fact that the predictions were wrong…regardless of who wins in the end?

Yup - for perspective, Obama won 97% of the black vote in his first presidential run, IIRC.

Actually at this stage I’m hoping that Trump really is a Russian puppet. The world is probably in better shape that way than if dangerously unpredictable Trump is actually the POTUS.

Sure it will probably lead to the breakup of the EU and the collapse of NATO, just a few little things, but Russia doesn’t want a Nuclear war, thats bad for business.

They were stupid enough to vote him into office. They’re plenty stupid enough to buy whatever bullshit excuses he tosses out for why nothing he promised them is coming true.

Trump is ahead in fukkin Pennsylvania.

You can’t seriously believe that the professed beliefs of Mormons matches up with the kind of human being Donald Trump is. Maybe you’re not brainwashed, but I have to take a long, hard look at the evangelicals, the Mormons - all the groups with a strong majority consciously voting against the values they supposedly care so much about and want to build US law around.

Whatever. I’m going to bed.

65% of Latinos is truly incomprehensible.

And most likely 2-3 of his nominees in the Supreme Court for the next 30-40 years. (What’s been a pro-business court is going to become even more pro-business)

The Republicans are going to own three branches of government despite having a sizable minority of voters.

Welcome to Thug America, where the ends justify the means. We now know what a Republican’s word is worth, and what the going rate for a soul is. I suppose I could be generous and believe that most of the right-wingers on this board were extremely rare exceptions and actually did what they claimed what they were going to do-not vote for Trump.

But it is fucking hard.
