Oh Demeter, what hast thine daughter done to us?

Friggin’ Persephone.

First day back from being held captive in the underworld all winter and it’s snowing outside like a sonuvabitch.

…last time I pay her goddamn phone bill …

So, how was your first day of Spring?

i am eeyore, it is pouring rain where ever i am.

the good news is we need the rain badly. the bad news is i’m soaked. i like snow much better.

Yep, another 15 cm of snow. Twice in three days.

Grrr.

The sun is shining here. Finally!

It’s 59 degrees.

I don’t get to gloat often, but, dammit, I’m gonna do it now.

I was contacted by a guy doing research for the History Channel who read my Teemings article A History of Anglo-Saxon Wedding Customs who wants more info from me on the practice of bachelor parties in different cultures.

It rained really hard, I had five pieces of pizza and half an italian hero for lunch, felt tired sluggish and fat all afternoon, got a stomach ache from holding in farts, came home and jogged five miles through the mud, and my wife cooked a big dinner even though I told her not to, so I ate it, then my daughter wanted to make snow cones with the snoopy snow cone maker, so we did that and I had to eat like five of those sickly sweet things, then I log on and see this thread and click respond.

Then I type:

Hey! Gimme a freakin’ break! I’ve been underground for six months, all’s I’ve had to eat is six freakin’ pomegranate seeds, and I’m hungry! I’ll clear your snow as soon as I’m done eating!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Here? Oh, it was just fine. The inch or so of snow we received today was a LOVELY addition to the glaze ice on the road underneath, leading to driving conditions not unlike those on Salt Lake City’s speed skating course.

I about needed a freakin’ valium by the time I got home…30 mph all the way. Unless I fishtailed, in which case I dropped down to 25.

Hey, we had a great day. Bright, a few high mares’ tail clouds and temps into the 40s. Most of the snow is gone. There is just a little left in the road ditches, north sides of buildings and fence lines. Generally a great transition day. Unfortunately the transition is back to winter. Tomorrow we are suppose to be back in the mid-teens with low cloud, snow flurries and a stiff wind off North Dakota (why don’t those people keep their weather). Winter never really got going here this year. A few hints but no bone chilling cold or howling, freeze to death blizzards. I’d just as soon get this over with and get on to our three days of spring before high summer sets in.

It snowed.
Snow.
In March
In Seattle.

It isn’t supposed to do that.
It never does that.

Snow.
Yuck.

Let’s see.

High of 86° and mostly sunny today.
It’s 64° right now - I’ve got some windows open so I won’t have to run the A/C so much tomorrow.

I will not gloat, I will not gloat…

If it makes y’all feel any better, it’s supposed to cool down a bit toward the end of the week. Highs only in the low 70’s.

Golly, I know just what you mean. When I left for work this morning, I actually almost needed a jacket! In March! Can you believe it?

ow! ow ow ow! hey, quit it! sheesh, a little chill and everyone loses their sense of humor…

Well if the greedy bitch hadn’t gorged herself on those six pomegranate seeds, there wouldn’t be any winter at all…

Raises paw timidly
Uhm, could any kind Doper ship some of his or her snow over to Taiwan? [sub]I always say that as long as it’s gonna get cold, it may as well snow… of course, the weather gods never hear me. Get a hearing aid, Zeus![/sub] This marks the eighth year in a row that I haven’t even seen snow! (Which breaks my own personal record, by the way) sniffle I miss my snowies…

On the bright side, it’s nice and warm here now… bright, sunny, AC’s laboring to keep the temperature around here to the cooler side of 25 degrees Celsius… [sub]Galen, we oughta form a Gloaters Anonymous…[/sub]

:stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, a mix of rain and snow around here, and it only got up to around 35.

There’s a redheaded goddess gonna get her butt kicked over this…

Yesterday was the first day of spring? Dammit, nobody tells me anything! Could someone send me an e-mail the day before summer starts so I don’t miss it?

In any case, yeah, it was warm and sunny here in Themeparkland World. Finally got the camping tent spread out on the lawn so it would dry out and get rid of some of the mildew smell. Ick. And I’ve finally started on the laundry. And the cat is accepting me back into the house after being gone for a week in the wilds of Mississippi. Yeesh.

It’s wet.

It’s green.

It’s warm.

It’s Spring.

And…
on this lovely first day of Spring…

I had my molar yanked out in a horrible bloody froth at the dentist!

So…Spring day 1 wasn’t all it might have been. Or possibly it was more than it should have been. It depends.

First full day of Spring in Mid-Missouri.

They’re predicting a record low.

No Spring here, but Autumn has begun at last.

I was feeling a little melancholy at another Summer come and gone: my last few summers have been fairly tumultuous times for me - in a good way - and it’s sad to realise that another one is over. Another birthday, a life-changing experience, a significant relationship… but summer is over now. Over again for another year.

But Autumn has been kind. The weather is still warm - 29 degrees Celsius today - and the sky is still blue. Of course, given the climate of my city, the grass is still comfortingly dry and brown and the water has remained warm. I’m feeling pretty good, still.

Plus, today I downloaded ‘Those Were The Days My Friend’ to make me feel better. Man, I’m a dork.

I just wish the weather would decide what it wants to do here, and stick with it! (Well, except for sticking with the rain bit. We’ve had enough of that for now, thank you very much.)

Nice day last week, up into the low 70’s, mostly clear sky, sunny enough to be nice without being hard on the yes. Then BOOM!. Rain. Rain. More rain. Temps in the 50’s. Even more rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain. Rain was supposed to stop Tuesday. Temps in the 40’s or lower over night. Rain. Rain. Wednesday comes. Rain. Get the picture?

Now this weekend is supposed to be nicer: clear, highs in the upper 50’s-low 60’s depending on which weather station you care to believe in.

<< Spring has spring a leak! >>

Wow, I had forgotten that everyone doesn’t have warm, beautiful, sun-shiny weather all the time.

Today’s forecast - High 88 Low 68. Current temperature - 79. Partly cloudy in the early morning. With a 20% chance of afternoon showers.

I love South Florida.

Wish you were here.
