Any thoughts, feelings on this one?
You know, Moss is a good-to-great WR…when he wants to be. I just wonder which team’s going to pick him up.
Hmmm, Moss. Is he the one who was charged with rape or the one who assaulted a police officer? As I am a resident Minnesotan, I am becoming accostumed to our FB players being charged with this felony or that felony. Sad, really. They were a good team…about 15 years ago. What happened?
What this article says is that the Vikings are sending feelers to see what Randy’s trade value is. What the articly does not say is that due to astro-effing-nomical contract he’s smack dab in the middle of, no team will want him. He may be the best WR playing today, but he’s also the highest paid WR ever, and not that many teams have the dollars under the cap to make room for him. Moss will be a Viking for several more years. Not to mention that the Vikes would take a cap hit somewhere in the neighborhood of $8 to $10M.
No way this will ever happen.
I’m wondering what Daunte the Great could do with two decent full-time receivers instead of one incredible part-timer and one crap guy.
Quick update, Bruce Jacobs right now (Mar 2 1:25 am CST) is talking about the very interested Raiders. They would have cap room for the contract after the recent cuts.
As a Packers fan, I’d love to see him go to the AFC. I know he would never fit into the Green Bay offense coaching, but I don’t want him to stay in the NFC since he kills us every year.
Shit, I meant Kevin Wheeler. Sorry
This page (written 3-2-04, 630AM EST) says that the Raiders are still $3M over the cap.
Also, for the sake of argument, I don’t see why the Raiders would go after Moss right now. They have the 2nd overall pick in what is being called the best WR class ever to enter the draft. They’ll have their pick of Larry Fitzgerald, and any one of the Williams triplets (Mike, Reggie, or Roy). All signs indicate they’re going to go for a WR and they have the chance to get a young stud at the fraction of the cost for Moss.
But there’s nothing the Raiders love more than a fixer-upper.
While we’re talking football, anyone have an opinion of A.J. Feeley heading to the Dolphins? After saving the Eagles’ season in 2002, I was baffled that he was still a third-stringer in 2003. Kind of ironic that the Eagles’ roster managed to squeeze in both the most overrated and underrated QBs in the league.
The Vikings vehemently denied a Sporting News report Monday that the team is prepared to trade superstar wide receiver Randy Moss.
I know that teams will often try and use a poker face when making deals…but I don’t think that’s the case here.
Just popping in to mention that I was pretty bummed at the end of the season with the way that Mike “I’m a egotistical jerk” Shanahan was handling Clinton Portis, especially as I’d taken him last year in a new SMBD keeper league. But I am estatic to have Joe “I want to build my team around an RB” Gibbs trading for him. He could end up the most utilized back in the league. Whee!
