Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 36 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 68 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. We may or may not grab N.O.L. while out and about. I’m in favor of just gettin’ back to da cave and havin’ sammiches. We shall see. Sloth is definitely on the agenda for the afternoon and evenin’.
WetOne congrats! Keep it up.
Beck I’ve never had caribou. Glad you liked it. Maybe they’ll shoot a unicorn!
MetalMouse good luck today. I shall cheer y’all on. RAH!!!
{{{Gigity}}} ::tacklehug:: LTNS! How ya doin’? Or maybe I should flirt. How YOU doin’?
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
ETA: First on Page Five! Neener, neener Ruble and Spidey
TUGIG!!! Where ya been hidin’ dude?? I think about you every time I’m in the Annapolis area, well, except for the last time when we were at the Sailboat Show and the entire City Dock area was flooded. Then I was just thinking soggy thoughts.
I’m thinking maybe my Kahlua is super-caffeinated. I had a drink before bed last night, and I couldn’t fall asleep till after midnight. Then I was awake around 5. Dammit. Gonna be a long day.
Woke up way too early today, shortly after 4am. I couldn’t get back to sleep, so I got up and got some stuff done.
I also have a carb hangover after eating out last night.
It’s a cloudy 37 degrees outside, supposed to get up to 59 today.
We may, or may not, vacuum some leaves.
Good to see you again 2Gig, hope all is well with you.
Congrats WetOne.
Time to get ready for the park, always the park.
Then come home and wrap Christmas presents. I like to be done by Thanksgiving, I’m doing pretty well this year. I may even start writing out my Christmas cards and have them ready to mail after Thanksgiving.
I hate when people start with the Christmas stuff before Thanksgiving is over, but I do like to have everything ready to go so I don’t have to stress through the holidays.
Trash goes out today, so I’ll take a page from FCM’s book and clean out the fridge. I try to do it weekly but I haven’t poked around in there for a few weeks. Not that there is much in there to poke around.
Blurf. Not much happening thus far except playing with the puppy. If I had a tenth of his energy I would be happy. I need to get dressed and figure out what I want to cook today. Someone needs to go to the store and I am hoping hubby will do it. Maybe we will go together.
I have the usual chores for today plus Netflixing to do. Happy Sunday everyone!
Anyone know if the SDMB is doing a Christmas gift exchange this year? I haven’t been around the boards much lately, and looking around today, I haven’t seen any threads about it.
Midget!!! Where ya been hiding?? Is this the weekend for Mumpers to come out of the woodwork??
We went to breakfast at the cafe in Leonardtown, just to see what it was like now. Didn’t recognize anyone but the owner, and boy, has she aged! The food was OK, and it was a nice break from Cracker Barrel. I wish we had more breakfast options that feature Diet Coke. Bob Evans and IHOP both have Pepsi products, and I just can’t…
Speaking of Christmas, I got a book and a toy for my great-nephew (grand-nephew?) at the Marine Museum yesterday. I’ll tuck some cash in the book and he’ll be set. Roxy is getting a mini-trampoline in purple, because her mom declared that’s Roxy’s favorite color - the kid lurves to jump! And she’ll probably get some money for her bank account, since she really doesn’t need anything.
I need to figure out something for my mom, and we’ll likely give the inlaws a bunch of restaurant gift cards. And that’s it. Bah, humbug!
Greeting 2gig and Midget. Stick around and enjoy the scenery.
Never eaten caribou or anything more exotic than Angus beef (at least that I know off…some of the courses in China…)
Soccer starts in a couple of hours, need to get my lazy butt out of the chair and find some sustenance. Already 58F heading for 65F so should be a beautiful day for the kids.
Did you feel the disturbance in The Force? I just dusted. I need to vacuum, but Roxy is still sleeping. Of course, if I assume the knit position, she’ll wake immediately. What to do, what to do??
My feet were cold, so I got my mother some slipper socks.
I am asking for long underwear for Christmas. I’d like a new coat, one with pockets that have zippers, maybe one with a heater in it.
I couldn’t wear my gloves at the park today. Urban kept pulling them off my hands so he could eat them. From what I hear, Urban loves to eat socks and gloves.
I don’t know where it came from. I’ll ask when one of them comes through.
Good morning all y’all.
My morning has been lazy.
Looks like a warmish afternoon. I’ll take the doggies on a long walk around the big pond. And hope a deer hunter doesn’t shoot us. I make lots of noise, and wear orange.
Earlier, I was on the deck and it sounded like a shooting gallery. Far off, thank heavens.
No food plans. Maybe DIL has an idea or a casserole:eek:
Hope you guys have a good Sunday.
**sari **- last year, I got my mom a quarterly beer club subscription, but I don’t want to do the same this time. I was thinking about a wine club, but that may be too taste specific. Maybe fruit of the month? Or cheese of the month? Still thinking.
Dusting and vacuuming is done. Roxy has been fed and she’s now watching Sesame Street. Poor thing has snotty sneezes - doesn’t seem to bother her, but I need to keep a tissue at the ready.
My plague-carrying Grandwreks are both sneezy and hacking. DIL says it’s a mild sinus/allergy thing going on. She’s treating symptoms snd watching for a fever spike. They don’t appear to be sickly other than the upper respiratory symptoms.
I need virus like I need a new head. I’m keeping a distance.
Several years ago, in the bright sunlight, and I still don’t need glasses at fifty (I checked a few weeks ago,) I tripped on a broken sidewalk. Landed on my hand. Still have scars.
Fortunately, my colleague was with me, and she was smart enough to make me take off my ring before my finger swelled, and we went to the nearest available public facility so I could wash up and bandage. Bless her, Marianne didn’t understand why I got tickled when we walked into the cathedral and asked the nearest nun for the washroom so that I could clean and bandage my stigmata!
Fast forward: went to Mama’s yesterday to (ostensibly) watch some pointy ball and eat leftovers. 'Twas really so that I could empty the big trailer at the local tip without my dad’s “help.” (Back story: that job was supposed to be done last Wednesday. My mom needed to borrow my brother’s big trailer, but it was full of flooring he’d pulled from his house, and he didn’t have time to offload yet due to other obligations. Ma was all “oh, Rachel’s coming Wednesday, bring it and we’ll empty it!”)
And I was there, dressed in work clothes, and Ma just didn’t want to that day. Bro offered, and he and I could have spent fifteen minutes unloading.
Ma “didn’t want to impose” on my brother.
So yesterday, we unloaded wet carpet, and wouldn’t have managed without the kindness of a nice young stranger. (We aren’t delicate old broads, but at 50 and 70, we aren’t exactly Mr. Olympia. I puked up my leftovers after the whole ordeal.)
Even better, I/we/someone will have to replace the trailer decking before we can go pick material for the new roof. My dad replaced the decking three years ago, and I asked him then to use the leftover exterior house paint to coat the four sheets of OSB before I put it on the trailer. “No, it’ll be fine.” Turns out that five days of rain on old carpet will straight up rot the oriented strand board underneath. Who knew? And I had to toss the leftover house paint last month, because SOMEONE (dad) didn’t close the bucket properly.
So, between now and Thanksgiving week, I need to redeck the trailer, because that’s when I’ve arranged a work party to install the new roof at Mama’s, and I need the big trailer to haul the materials. If anyone is interested in my apple core, you’re welcome to come paint the new deck!
But at least the Christmas shopping is mostly done.
(The Boy got new tires. I paid Girl 2.0’s December rent. Ma and Pa are getting a roof, and my brother is getting decking for his trailer, plus the boat I gave him. I fixed the in-law’s roof leak and installed their new outdoor kitchen counters. One of the babies is getting a baritone ukelele and lessons, and the other is getting something. I haven’t quite figured her and the hubby.)
Tomorrow is supposed to be warm, in the 60s, so I’m going to order groceries today to pick up tomorrow. Toosday is senior discount day, but is supposed to be cold and messy, I’ll take warmer weather over the discount.
I’m also going to start stocking up on some food in case we get some icky weather and don’t want to go out. I hear this winter is supposed to be colder than usual.
I’ve been knitting in front of the TV for hours. After dusting and vacuuming, I ran out of motivation. Tomorrow, I’ll do leaves. Supper will be grab whatever. Lazy evening…
