Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 40 Amurrkin out and N.O.S. with a predicted high of 75 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall spiff da cave today and this evenin’ I have Vestry meetin’ over to the church house. On the upside, this probably won’t be like the marathon meetin’ we had last month. Hey, I take my victories when I can get 'em. Sup shall be beast stew and cornbread. This is beast stew I made a couple of months ago and froze. So, thaw, heat, and eat. Easy Peasy!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
As the title states, this is the start of the MMP. So, y’all jump in and hijack away!
I didn’t want to start it as I prefer to have an actual topic/question/pre-derailment thought when I do but I did see there twasn’t rather late this Moanday.
Glad I checked - I was just about to post a new MMP. I was protesting the overload of Christmas shopping ads already. Just one question - who here has received or known someone who received a car with a big-ass red bow for Christmas??
If someone presented me with a vehicle, I’d probably be somewhat pissed, only because I think it’s the sort of thing someone must pick out for themselves. I remember about 20 years back, I had been admiring the Mustang - I liked the looks of it. **FCD **and I were on travel for work, and we rented one - and hated it! It just wasn’t comfortable and neither of us like driving it. So if someone had given me one based on my admiring its looks, I wouldn’t have been all that pleased.
This is all by way of begging you PLEASE don’t give me a car with a big red bow this Christmas. Thanks ever so…
I appear to have a terrible tendency to buy my cars around New Year’s. One of those purchases was just after carrying certain safety items was made compulsory; my car was secondhand and didn’t have them. The Baby Jesus brought me a safety kit (no bows were involved).
Coworker and I are both more asleep than awake, but considering how much we need to do, it’s not as if we’ll be making any mistakes.
Morning all. First day without a beard in almost a year (for those that missed the late posts in the last MMP, I let my soccer teams shave the beard off (evidence posted in Facebook). Still reaching up to stroke it now and then.
Never bought a car for Xmas and don’t know anyone rich enough to buy me one (and I’m not rich enough to buy them one).
Got to clean the car out of various soccer stuff today. Rain is predicted for tonight but it’s N.O.S. and 54F right now. Probably should mow the lawn for the final time this season, but I reall ydon’t feel like it now, so probably will wait until later this week.
**MetalMouse **- I meant to mention, you really do look a whole lot younger without the facial hair!
I’m showered and dressed, and when it warms up a wee bit more, I’m going to make a leaf-sucking turn around the yards. Not a lot of leaves, so it shouldn’t take too long. Daughter took the day off to tend to Roxy - she’s got a cold. SIL is working in the shop. Mostly a quiet day here.
**peedin **- Good on ya!!! I can’t give you a car, but vinegar can be a good odor-remover. If you can put a big bowl in the car, it might help. Worst case, it’ll smell like salad dressing!
Not a bad day outside today.
We had a good time at the park.
Going to be COLD tomorrow, and maybe icy. It’s supposed to rain all night and drop down into the 20s. It’s a wait and see for everybody as to whether or not we will meet up at the park.
A big branch fell off the tree, nice after we had already cleaned up all the mess. I should do something with the leaves today since it’s going to be cold and yukky for a while.
The only ‘car’ I would want is a bugatti veyron, and I think it’s a pretty safe bet that one of those will never turn up in my driveway, with or without a ribbon around it. Just as well, because I couldn’t afford to insure it, or drive it.
Picking up groceries around 2, then I am in for the day.
De-leafing is done for today - much lighter loads than last week, and far too many leaves still waiting to fall. I don’t think a big wind would help much as so many are still green. At least I’m not having to rake.
Guess it’s time to assume the knit position. That, or dust my bedroom.
WetOne good job! If you have a way to get the car detailed, it will help a lot. Do it yourself steps include cleaning the upholstery and the carpets. Adding an air freshener into the vent system (a friend swore by a dryer sheet). Febreeze really helps too.
I think I am past the stomach bug thoughtfully conveyed to me by my niece. She a very cute little vector.
My husband’s company doesn’t have today off. It’s very strange, poor guy.
Thanks to the magic of copy and paste, here it is:
Well, as I suspected, my router was borked. I now have a new router and have to convince all the devices on my home network to play nice with it.
At least they didn’t ask me to pay for it
It’s not as fast as my Linksys, but it’ll do for now.
Well, I’m off, and I’m leaving too.
Please direct any complaints to the management, thank you.
Afternoon all. Mailing and other errands are done, did a little ‘furniture shopping’ today, in preparation for the Great Spring Makeover. What probably amazes me most is the different prices of mattresses…some go for a few hundred dollars, others you’re talking $2500-$3000 for a set. I’ll get a good set for my king bed, but a cheapo for the guest bedroom (which doesn’t see many guests anyway).
Got plenty of time to look, but looks like the budget will not be broken.
Glad you’re feeling better Sunny. You take care Pearl.
My big sister and BIL are in town this week. It’s their first visit to Melbourne, so it is my task to tell them all about it. It’s times like this that I realise I am one of those people who doesn’t partake in local activities as much as I should.
Yesterday was a nice sunny day (it’s crap weather season) so we did a few touristy things in the city together. Great to catch up and talk with them one-on-one long term, something I have never really done before.
This is also three months after our brother died, so that weighs a bit on the conversation sometimes.
Missive from the hospital:
Beckdawrek is managing the intrusive folks who ask too many questions and want answers. Nothing has hurt too bad or been too difficult. So far.
I got corndogs from Sonic before I sent Mr.Wrekker back home. He was making me nervous.
Nothing like someone irritating the bejeebers out of me to get the blood circulating. On Veterans Day, I always post a plea for better mental health services for veterans. A woo-woo friend responded that tapping cures all ills, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc. Oh, for frick’s sake. Not wanting to derail my main message by getting into a debate, I merely repeated it. She then said more funding wouldn’t be needed if veterans just started tapping. Great. Just great.
I shall hie myself to the sunny outdoors before I tap someone with a silver hammer.
Supper was very pale - chickie in gravy, rice, cauliflower. The dishwasher is sloshing away. SIL will keep Roxy home tomorrow out of caution. The sitter has an infant and there’s no need to risk sharing germs. I’ll take off an hour early so daughter and SIL can go to class. Or maybe I’ll go in an hour early and just shift my schedule. We shall see.
Roxy seems to be getting better, tho, so huzzah for that.
Moooooom, my niece was one who received a new (to her) car with a red bow on it for Christmas a few years back. She was going through a divorce when her old cherry bomb finally went kablooey and had all of her finances tied up. She had a kid in middle school and one in high school and was spending 2.5 hours a day on a Marta bus. Her mom, her grandparents and her soon to be ex inlaws pitched in for a three year old Sonata just in time for Christmas. She cried.

It’s been a drizzly, dark day. I picked my new glasses after irk (hello fine print!), so it was dark by the time I got home. Poor Nelson, by the time 21 December gets here, he will only be seeing daylight walks on the weekends.
