Very unsettled night - woke several times, misread the clock once, and started the day slightly disoriented. It’s gotta get better, right?
I need to get my letter of resignation submitted. Technically, Thanksgiving is exactly 2 weeks before my planned last day, but I won’t wait that long. I assume I just send it to the immediate boss, but I’ll also email the company prez - he’s a good guy. It’s starting to get real.
Today is Pizza Day at work. Every few months, they take the “profits” from our snack room and buy lunch for everyone here. This time, it’s pizza, so I didn’t have to pack lunch. Yay for free lunch!!
…lalalalala lalalaaala, lalalala lalalaaa, killin me softly with his song, killing me softly…
At least it’s not “Last Christmas” any more. There’s a movie by that name coming out so there’s ads for it (including on the sides of these buses which periodically pass right outside my office’s windows) and I hate that soooooong! And I hate even more that people think of it as “Christmasy” just because it says Christmas in the title. I’m the musical Grinch and I refuse to stop being the musical Grinch!
I’m not buying meat or fish directly. The cantina at work is pretty decent, but the main courses always include meat or fish; since I’m eating there 4 days/week, I figure that covers me on that department. Hoping that this will help me eat more of that “vegetables and fruit” stuff that I’m supposed to eat more of, not just more beans and carbs. Aaaand lunchtime is abooout… now.
Happy lunch hour, Nava; I woke up about an hour ago–the joys of world communications.
Moooommm, two week’s formal notice? They’ve known your plans for about six-seven months now, haven’t they? Ah well, the proprieties must be maintained…
Need to do some shopping this morning before the 90% chance of rain shows up, but also need to wait until the kids are in school and the 9-5 crowd has made it to work. Also need to visit the post office.
**MetalMouse **- my boss has known my plans for a year - when I started working 3-day weeks. But I still need to make it official with a letter of resignation. Plus I’m nice, dammit!
BLURF Irking as usual. What is unusual is BuddyBoy came with me today. We shall see how it goes. He is not very social at all but he never will be lest he gets out sometimes. Other than that – same shit, different day.
Tis a long week. I have a three day weekend coming up and it is much needed.
Just got put in the infusions room at the Clinic. Nasty poisonous chemicals are going into me. Yuk! I ate beforehand. I hope I don’t toss my cookies.:).
I felt really good on the way down here. So antibiotics are working. Kidney doc will be in to see me. We’ll talk about tests that need to be ran.
Hope all you guys have a good day.
Today’s free lunch at work is from Papa John’s. It’s further convinced me that I will never order from them again. How did I ever think this stuff tastes good??
Cloudly, but the predicted rain hasn’t shown up yet. Shopping and mailing are done, and I filled up the gas tank just to make my trip outside worth it.
Filling the gas tank was an adventure all to itself. Stopped at Kroger since I get a discount from buying groceries there, set up the pump for $50 and started…and at $5.09 on the dial it stopped dead. I thought the clerk might have punched in $5 instead of $50, but no, it just stopped working. Ended up having to back up to another pump to get the remaining $44.91 worth.
Thanks MetalMouse He is doing OK. I have introduced him to some of my staff and he didn’t bark too much. He shakes so I assume he is scared. Right now he is napping. Poor little thing. He will be fine in time I’m sure. We only need to irk until 3:30 to have our 80 hours for the period.
So glad the antibiotics are working and you’re feeling better, Beck! I hope you don’t throw up. Is that a side effect of the treatment? What nasty, poisonous chemicals are they infusing? Let us know what the kidney doc says.
I’m doing better today, mood-wise. I’m willing myself back into therapeutic denialism. I made up that term. Watch for my new book, Deny Your Way to a Happier You! Chapters include “Vision Loss is Free Photoshopping” and “Swelling Makes Hands Look Younger.”
One of the happiest moments of my recent experience is when I went to the Fred Meyers (Kroger) gas station with our old 3/4 ton Suburban with the 42 gallon tank and the pump jockey asked me if I wanted my 30 cents off per gallon discount. I probably only saved $10-$12, but it made my day.
Wetone I quit smoking for good some 32 years ago so my memory is somewhat hazy, but as I recall, it took about 6 months before I felt like my lungs were clearer and I could breathe better, but it was SO worth it. The cravings don’t go away for a while, and it varies from person to person, but hang in there. You’ll feel so much better and be so glad you quit in a few months.
Hang in there Beck, and you too Nellie. We need you around here.
We are back at the ‘big house’ for awhile. Wifey is having sinus issues.
I’m feeling okay, or no worse than usual, anyway.
I need to call the Toyota dealer and schedule getting the airbags in the Scion changed out.
Also need to schedule with the eye doctor.
I like it! Actually, since I can’t carry a tune, my humming is groaning. Get a tune going through my head, and I sound like Lurch with indigestion. It should be easy to convince people the reverse is also true. Not sure about dogs. They whimper when I walk by either way.
How about a tee-shirt that says “My pancreas is broken, what’s your excuse?”
The terrible chemicals are antibiotics. I complained mightily about Mondays infusion. I was weak and sickly until Wednesday. After my recent freak out/panic attack in that part of the clinic if I look cross-eyed, they look afraid and run get help. (DIL told me I’m evil). Doctor came in and ask me precisely what my symptoms were. I told him. He umhummmed. He said we could lower the dose, but I might have to come for another Monday. I reminded him he ordered me to the hospital Monday. “Oh, yeah”, sez he. “Good I’ll just order a series of injections while you’re there”. (Thx, Doc, 'preciate that!!)
Nephrologist came in and told me a bunch of mumbo-jumbo about tests. Lots of blood draws and pee-ing. We talked about how long I could fast before I fall into a coma. Hey, dude you’re the one with a degree (and specialty), you figure it out. I don’t think I’ve ever fasted more than 2 hours. Maybe my Keystone Cop retinue of health care professionals won’t let me die in hospital.:smack:
But on the up side I’m not nauseated today. Got corndogs. My numbers are good. Just a teensy weak feeling.
Nellie I’m happy your in a good humor. Eat a corndog.
Howdy Y’all! As I said this mornin’ I’ve had a pretty chill day. Did get the closet somewhat more organized, so there’s that. Sup was also teh nummy! I make good couch chikin. ‘Tis been cloudy all day and it looks like the predicted rain for tonight is sneakin’ it’s way on over from Alabammy.
Beck yay for havin’ a better day and corndawgs!
nellie glad you’re doin’ better mood wise.
MOOOOOOM I agree. We don’t order PJ pizza, but I’d eat it if’n it was free.
