Looks to me like one of those throwaway quips that sound better in the imagination than they turn out in reality. I think you might be attributing to malice what may only be foot-mouthedness.

Honestly, I don’t think that’s any excuse. You’d have to have the social skills of a gnat not to realise that the remark “shame you’re not telegenic” is really fucking hurtful. To anyone. Regardless of how they look.
I’ve met him in the flesh. I offer no comments on his appearance.
I’ve been told I have a “face for radio” - it’s just banter.
It read it as a crap joke about the fact you were on for 10-15 secs.
I’m betting the person who said you have a face for radio is/was a friend and therefore knows that banter is acceptable. Quartz doesn’t know me, he’s not my friend, we do not have banter, he is just being rude.
It looks more like a joke gone flat than an intentional insult to me, but I agree he should have come and explained himself and/or apologized.
I know, enjoy, and consider myself to be friendly with probably < .5% of the members to this message board. Yet participate in banter with >90%. That’s most of what we do here you realize.
You wrote your OP, and even though I know** Quartz **has been active since then maybe we could sit back and wait a little longer for him to come by and express how he intended no insult by the comment.
His finishing school was bombed.
I rushed off to see just what Francesca had been doing on screen based on this comment, and was quite disappointed.
When I read his remark I had a “what the fuck!” moment myself.
If it was meant as a joke it just wasn’t funny. I took the remark the same way you did.
To give him the benefit of the doubt I suppose he could have logged off and not been back since to explain himself.
I notice on preview that some of my post is irrelevant as Quartz has been around since his post, so we’ll have to wait for his apology or reasoning for his post.
By the way, I agree those pasties did look very nice.

I dunno who you’ve been talking to, but no one under 60 in the states says fanny. Unless they’re imitating a Brit, of course. 
Whether it’s down to malice or just social ineptitude, saying some dickish still warrants an apology.
I don’t check every thread every hour. Or even every day. I have apologised in that thread, so will not repeat myself in this one.

I had a massive brain fart when I read the quip in that thread. I read “telegenic” as “telepathic”.
I struggled a little to get past the concept of “telegenesis” as in Return To The Forbidden Planet, myself.
