For those of you unfamiliar with the thread, he had mentioned a bunch of less-than-happy things going on in his life, and asked if he was a loser or not. Some said yes, some said no. Actually, agreeing with someone doesn’t imply minionhood (yeah, yeah, BjOrn it probably isn’t a word; get over it). And there have been times I haven’t agreed with Coldy, but all in all, if I must be a minion, Coldy would still be my first pick.
What a bunch of brouhaha over something simple. DLT said something distasteful, not to mention ignorant, Coldy called him on it and others largely agreed. DLT got defensive and tried to brazen it out.
It didn’t work and Bj0rn predictably jumped in to spread his own peculiar dank fog over the issue. I say predictably because he’s had a boner about Coldfire for ages. Said boner originates in Coldy’s inistence on clear communication; not perfect, but at least comprehensible.
In justice, Bj0rn is miles (kilometers?) clearer than he used to be. His posts are now readable and his meaning understandable. But I really wish he’d lose the grudge already. Whether Bj0rn knows it or not, Coldy did him a favor that no one else could: a fellow non-native English speaker taught him that his posts had to at least be within guessing limits if his thoughts were to be understood here.
Maybe DLT will be back, or maybe he won’t. But either way maybe he learned that an apology earns a lot more respect and goodwill than fighting. Sheesh, people are perfectly free to say whatever they want here, but the give and take gives everyone else the same freedom of expression right back.
Am I missing something or are there complications and subtleties I’m not seeing? (Besides the hideous, secret cabal of Doper cliques and Illuminati, of course.)

But the “Holocaust” post or “Hitler” post or whatever people are calling what I posted when flaming techchick68 has seemed to really hit a nerve. Fine, maybe it WASN’T satire. Let’s call it “wild exaggeration for comic effect.” I expected two things to make this apparent when I posted it: 1- My reference to “Springtime for Hitler,” the production put on in Mel Brooks’ “The Producers,” one of the funniest movies ever made, and 2-“I guess you can smell a gold tooth a mile away.” This line was originally used by Howard Stern in reference to some German broadcasters. In context, its pretty funny. And I still think so.
