I’m giving my fellow shoppers at the grocery store an F. Oh, sure, almost all of them were wearing masks, but they ALL ignored the arrows, so I kept having to turn around and go the wrong way, come up the next aisle, and try again. One guy turned into my aisle just as I was about to exit it, so definitely not 6 feet away. Follow the frickin’ arrows, people! Masks or not, stay away from me! I do think it’d help if the arrows at the “right this way” end of an aisle were green and at the Do Not Enter end, red, but nobody asked me.
Esme claims she’s feeling better. I hope that’s true. I’ll give her a couple days, then call again. These slimy scammers are probably calling off-shore, but it’s still a good idea to call law enforcement. AARP has a number for people who’ve been scammed to call. I’m hoping she’ll feel more comfortable calling that, since they won’t know her.
Beck, sorry you’re feeling poorly today. Im glad you’re getting plenty of pet therapy, though. Glad Mr. Wrek isn’t going to Texas. It’s definitely opening waaaay too soon.
**
Sari**, my sympathies on the oven dilemma. I guess when you want pizza, you want pizza. I eat turkey for the week or so that starts with Thanksgiving, and then I’m done for the year, mostly because a turkey is so much work AFTER it’s come out of the oven. I guess I’m lazy. But I hope you got the turkey roasted and the casserole made–which sounds yummy either way.
flyboy, sorry the one good Chinese restaurant closed.
Okay, that’s hilarious! Makes me think of the ancient “Maison Derriere” episode of The Simpsons, with the old-timey brothel.
Hmm. I can play piano, too …
But. It doesn’t matter.
Because.
I GOT THE MOTHERFUCKIN’ JOB peeps! Oh, hellzzz to the yeah. I am so excited, I am beside myself. Current job (a really nice little upscale grocery) is great, but it’s 30 miles away. This is jaw-droppingly far to the [del]yokels[/del] locals, but dude, I moved from DFW. Everyone drives at least half an hour to get to work in Dallas.
Still, it’ll be nice to save on gas, and four or five hours a week of my own time. Plus, current position is part time, and baaaarely enough to cover everything. New gig is full time, and includes a discount on products I use all the time every day anyways.
<scary German accent>
Now!
Eeet eees time for ze happy dance.
You may join me in ze dancing.
</scary German accent>
I’m just being silly. Because I’m so happy.

Oh, and Beck I like your cleaning style. The marching around* to gather mislaid clutter is a fantastic idea.
The kid is at her dad’s this weekend-and-then-some, so we did Mother’s Day yesterday. It was all the better because it was a surprise. We’ve been working all week to get things ready and yesterday. We made breakfast-for-dinner (because the original plan was breakfast, but it wasn’t going to work that way), had some cards and presents, and cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. The kid worked her little butt off to get it all done and had a blast doing it. We had fried potatoes, pancakes, bacon, and deviled eggs. I did anything that involved knives or hot things and she did pretty much everything else- measuring, mixing, peeling, etc. She was so proud and excited and mom was pretty pleased about it, too. After dinner, we played cards- Go Fish and then a game I used to love called Egyptian Rat Screw, which was too advanced for the kid. It involves slapping the deck if you see a double, so it gets pretty rowdy and intense for a card game, so she was pretty okay just watching.
I’m paying now, of course. That was to be expected. It was worth it, though.
You’ve got an increasing number of people infected every day, which means there are unknown transmissions occurring with the shelter-in-place. Some of those new infections are probably from antsy people giving the finger ti shelter-in-place for a while now.
So, lifting the restrictions means exposure for everybody running around celebrating freedom, from infected-but-not-sick-yet and also asymptomatic carriers.
The ORIGINAL PLAN was for releasing the restrictions only if the state had not shown any new cases for, what was it, 2 weeks?
The hospital ship needs to head for he Texas coastline.

Carni, Mr.Wrekker’s hunting buds would be coming from Colorado and Louisiana. We have no way of knowing their status of infection.
Also getting to West Texas requires lots of stopping at places that may not be as fastidious as myself.
The kids wet fishing last evening after dinner and grandson caught a 13’ rainbow. They call them ‘redsides’ hereabouts. They were all excited and wanted to go again this afternoon, which they did, but didn’t catch anything this time.
I got the sprinkler system figured out and got it going this afternoon. There was a broken sprinkler head, but the previous owner left some extras in the basement, so I was able to replace it.
It sounds to me like Esme’s ‘cousin’ was in on the scam Nellie. The cops should take a hard look at that individual, if they investigate a tall. :dubious:
Yay! for the new job Shoe. We call that an excuse for the ‘happy tushie dance’.
Feel better Beck. BTW, dinner tonight was BBQ’ed chickie legs, steamed broccoli, roasted taters, and watermelon. The watermelon was disappointing, too early in the season we’re thinking. Tri Tip roast tomorrow.
It’s hot and NOS again here (hot by local standards anyway), so I’ve got a load of washing on, to go on the line. That’s probably about the limit of today’s excitement. I’m debating going to the shop, but I probably won’t, or at least won’t until evening. The local ones seem a lot quieter and saner in the evening, less people ignoring all the restrictions, though masks have gone from a rare item to non-existent, I’ve seen no-one in one for over a week now.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 75 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I shall betake myself to  Wally Jr. this mornin’ as we need a few things from there. Also I intend to “impulse buy” one of their apple pies. They’re good! Other than that we shall sloth about da cave today. I am also considerin’ waffles 'n snausages (the little link kind) to sup upon just cause.
Shoe yay for the new gig! <White Boy Happy Dance That Nobody Wants To see>
Everyone else, I read but retention is pretty much non-existent, so, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all round, as needed.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Le sigh.
THIRTY-SIX-FREEKIN’-DEGREES this morning!! IN MAY!!! At least the sun is shining.
**MetalMouse **- my main car-repair criterion is that repairs don’t start equaling monthly car payments. Even if I had to pay $1000 per year, that’s lots less than buying a new car. And my car isn’t costing me nearly that much.
YAY Purp!!! <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>
Now that daughter has finished her classes (the ones she was taking, not the ones she was teaching) she’s launching into a job search. I came across one yesterday that looks like a great fit, so I hope she gets an application in pronto. Full-time with bennies - that’s hard to beat! So, fingers crossed…
I’m not sure what my day will bring. I will have a load of towels to wash, and I’ll push the vacuum cleaner around. Beyond that, I’ll just wing it.
I was able to extend the check out of an ebook from the library - the Hamilton biography that inspired the musical. It’s a lot longer than I’d thought at first and it took me a while to get into it. Once **FCD **is in the hospital, I’ll have more hours to fill, so I hope I can get it read before it expires again.
Speaking of daughter, there’s talk that the superintendent of schools in this county is looking at reopening in January!! The Gov has already said schools won’t reopen this school year. But if she gets the new gig, it won’t matter.
Critter fountain is clean. There’s a load of towels outside on the lines in the fresh air and sunshine. And SIL’s brother came by and gave Mothers Day roses to Daughter and me - he’s a very nice guy!
**FCD **and daughter are working. SIL is sleeping. Roxy is wearing me out. Just another day in paradise!
And the moral of the story is don’t buy the latest generation of tech at half price. It can bite you in the ass.
Yay for the new gig shoe!
Mooooooom, your rules for car repair sound similar to mine. I also add not spending more than half the book value of the vehicle on a repair as well.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, puppy crate cleaned and a load of sheets in the wash. In addition to the remaining laundry, I’ll [del]curse a lot[/del] put the new table and chairs together and take the old ones out. Such an exciting life!
Morning all. Up at 2am to micturate, then stayed in bed till almost 8am. Need some milk to go with the lettuce, so I will make myself presentable here in a bit and go forth to Kroger. Finishing off a Big Bowl O’Cereal this morning. Brother’s B-day today so I’ll be calling him a bit later. Also need to run the dishwasher again.
Yeah Purp! I can’t dance, so I will do a silly walk around my house to celebrate.
FCM, will cross fingers for you daughter and job search.
Dot, that was a great way to celebrate Mom Day. And a card game called Egyptian Rat Screw!!! Sounds more like a Heavy Metal band name…
Bumba, Congrats on the kids fishing luck. See how long it will be before they catch another that size.
Red, you figure you’ll be called as a witness if it goes to trial? Seems your doing a lot of the footwork on this.
FCM- good vibes for daughters job search.
Good-mornin’ all y’all. Unseasonably cool here. But the sun is shinin’! Yay!
I finally got a solid 5 hours of sleep. I feel much better.
If this quarantine business settles down I’m thinking I’m gonna get my butt to a sleep clinic and have a study done. I have sneaky suspicion is related to my glucose levels.
I’m hoping to get out and garden a little today. I’m trying to convince the lil’wrekker and Hamza to help me. We’ll see what Mid-daughter needs if she ever gets moving today. I think she’s about worn out from tending to all (mostly)of the cooking and kp duties. It’s a job cooking for this bunch everyday.
Son-of-a-wrek got some crawdaddies. We’ll have a boil tomorrow. Yay!
This afternoon me and the grandwreks are gonna make Mothers day cards. If I can them into it.
Morning. Had a bacon and mater sammich with my neighbor’s home grown tomatoes. It was tasty. We went to the grocery store last evening and got a few things.
I got a delivery of two dozen multicolored roses for Mother’s Day. I wish he wouldn’t have but tis nice.
I am planning to cook up the free ham and some collards and tater salad for tomorrow. We are promised a deluge with rain of between 4-8 inches tomorrow. I hope it happens. We really need the rain. Maybe not that much but an all day soaking would be most welcomed.
I need to do some cleaning and some laundry later today but right now it’s time for my morning nap. I don’t know what I will do when I go back to irk full time as my naps are becoming habit. There is still no word on when work will happen. Our county is still under a state of emergency and will be at least through the rest of the month.
I was at irk yesterday for a half day. I re-did the training that was fouled up the other day plus one more. I made a plan with my employees to all meet one day next week for a deep cleaning party. We are all still being paid and I feel we should be doing something. I still have a crap ton of online training to do as well. My girls can clean while I do training. I have a couch and another set of attached chairs that must go out of the building in order to keep social distancing. I have marketing working on some signage and am working a plan to have folks line up six feet apart out side as my building is not big enough for very many six foot spaces inside. Of course, there will be no lines until the county takes down the roadblock at the top of the island chain. The roadblock worked though as we are still at only 80 cases county wide while Miami has over 15K.
