OK, so now who's up for an Atlanta (area) pic-a-nic fest?

I thought it was you, but was too lazy to look up the old thread. I think an anniversary trip sounds like just the ticket!

You guys pick any day. I’m open on pretty much all of them.

Semper Gumby!

I like the end of September. 9/30 good for everyone?

Rats. Hubby will be at deer camp 9/30. :frowning:

Oh well. At least y’all will have someone to talk about, now.

Aw, too bad you can’t make it, NinetyWt!

Sounds like everybody else is good for 9/30, though, right? Shall we go ahead and reserve a picnic shelter?

Yes!

Sounds fun. 9/30 is probably fine for me, I’ll try to make it.

I might bring my canoe too - unfortunately it’s a solo whitewater canoe and I never learned to paddle it properly, but it might be good for a laugh. (There are showers there, right??)

OK, picnic shelter #3 has been reserved for Saturday, Sept. 30–if you want to chip in a few bucks to help defray the cost, it would be appreciated, but don’t sweat it if you can’t.

Now, who’s bringing what?

Geobabe, do you take PayPal?

I can bring home-made pimento cheese sandwiches!

Sure! Email address is in my profile.

Yum!

Yeah, um. . . about my canoe. It seems that the Flagship of my Flotilla ‘O’ Fun had been left behind up in Montana–and there’s two sides to this screwup. Because I stored it outside of my apartment, chained to the electrical conduit, the packing/inventory lady didn’t see it and thus she didn’t list it on the inventory. That day, I later unlocked it, and the movers took 'er. Because it was out-of-sight/out-of-mind, I forgot to list it on the inventory when I signed for it. Thus they took my canoe, but didn’t ship it down here because they didn’t know who’s account it was listed to.

Anyway, I called ‘em back this week and said, “Yo! Where’s my boat, eh!” They looked, admitted they have it, and told me they’d call me back on Tuesday to arrange for its transfer. However sumthin’ tells me I will not have any personal watercraft to bring to the shindig.

Geobabe, what does the site have in particular for overnight camping? I might just make a weekend out of it. Oh, also expect an e-mail from me in the next few days. I have a truck, and can meet anyone along the way to help haul gear, beer, or people.

Me? I have access to a pretty decent Class VI Liquor Store. I can bring beverages of the alcoholic (or non) variety fairly cheaply.

And we all know that “cheap” means “more volume given Trip’s already-allocated dollar”.

The park has tent, trailer and RV sites (there are cottages as well, but those appear to all be booked for that weekend). If you go to the link in the OP, you can see details about the park, and there is a link to reserve a campsite there on the front page. As I said earlier, if you can get there early, you may be able to snag one of the lakefront sites, which are really nice. The ones away from the water are fine, but it’s really nice to get that water view if you can.

Bump.

Harro? Man, I hope everybody hasn’t lost interest!

Crap, I just realized I’m demo-ing at Stone Mountain on 9/30. :frowning:

Oh, poo! How about Sunday? Would anybody mind changing the day? I can probably change the reservation if there’s a shelter available.

Sunday works for me

Um… the ad at the bottom currently says:

End it Now, Make Your Mother Proud Proven, Effective, 100% Money Back

(I REALLY hope it wasn’t Geobabe’s use of the word “poo” that triggered that… eeeeeew)

I could do Sunday!

Come on, Atlanta area folk! It’s a really nice site, and we had a good time when we were there before!

Depending on my boyfriend’s plans for the weekend, I might could make it myself. Man, I need to put together a LowCountryDope one of these days!
