On second thought, I’d rather shop before leaving home. Why don’t I get stuff that don’t require refrigeration - chips & salsa, buns, and anything else you can think of.
Um, I’ve already got dogs, brats, burger meat, cheese, and buns. I didn’t pick up condiments, plates, or plasticware, however. . .

OK, at the urging of my husband The Planner, I hereby present to you the day before the day before summary:
The Place: Red Top Mountain State Park, Picnic Shelter #7 (see the OP for link to the park webpage, which includes a map, if you missed it earlier).
The Day and Time: Sunday, October 1, starting at noon and ending…well, we’re probably gonna leave at around 4, but you yahoos can hang out as long as you want, until the rangers come and kick you out, I suppose.
The Cast of Characters:
Geobabe, UncleBill, and The Dudes -pulled pork, cole slaw
Tripler and Girlfriend -charcoal, dogs, brats, burger meat, cheese, and buns
OpalCat and **Dominic ** -bringing their own crazee vegetarian fare and side dish or dessert
Archergal -pimento cheese sammiches
Nawth Chucka -fruit/veggie thang
scr4 -chips & salsa? condiments, plates, plasticware?

I have just learned that I need a new battery for my car. I coasted over to my friend’s place last night w/ no radio, lights or interior gauges working. I expect to get a ride to the picnic, however - just not sure of exactly what time.

Y’all, I sure had a nice time today! The weather was beautiful, got to meet some new folks and see folks I’ve met before again. You Atlanta area Dopers that didn’t come missed some good food and good fellowship!

It was great seeing everybody, and I totally think we should rent a party barge on one of the lakes next summer.
I am so angry I missed this! I was going to get out of work early and show up, but we had a serious staffing problem and I wound up babysitting a bunch of our kids who had lacrosse sticks and tennis balls. Whose bright idea THAT was, I have no idea, but I wish they’d been there for me to take my wrath out on. ::grumble::
I’m never going to get to meet anyone.

Hey, I’ll offer to do the legwork for this one. I’ll start digging into the party barges up on the lake and see if there’s one later on this year, or maybe next spring. How’s about a Halloween DopeFest on the barge?

It was so nice to meet Slithy Tove, SCR4 and HerOwnSelf, such kind and fun Dopers! And what a gorgeous spot, couldn’t have asked for a prettier area or a milder day. We must do it again!
