The weather’s back to normally gloomy after going weirdly sunny over the last few days- apparently we had freakishly high air pressure over the last few days, but I didn’t get squished, so that’s nice.
Nothing much else to report. Uni irk’s starting to ramp up a bit, as deadline season approacheth; 4 months til the final exams, and with the system we have, almost all my final grade will be decided in that time. I think I’m roughly keeping on top of it, for now.
Supper will be tuna steaks, rice, and green bean-mushroom-onion cooked with soy sauce and oyster sauce. Very yum!
I’ve gotten a lot of knitting done, while binging on Virgin River on Netflix. It looks to be a pretty good series. So far.
Roxy napped till 4, tho I don’t think she fell asleep till after 1 or so. Her mama will be home from class around 7:30, so I don’t have to put her to bed.
Work was — tense. Word is they are going to play around with my shift and times and stuff and everyone is oiling torches and sharpening their pitchforks. I’m just sort of holding pat. Depending on what exactly happens I can always move to another shift; one good thing about seniority and Da Jungle ------ the only perk us old-timers get.
Howdy Y’all! We managed to lay in provisions today. Wore us out. We needed nappage afterward. Sup was boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread. ‘Twas nummy especially on a cold day. We discussed a biiiiiiiiiiiig upcomin’ project of neatenin’ up two of the storage buildin’s. That will be a Spring project. This will be a we’re not usin’ it so get rid of it project. I know there’s stuff in both buildin’s we haven’t used in quite some time. Fun times ahead.
My guess is that bumba is laying out with the good drugs.
It was 18F this morning when I left for irk. Fortunately, it warmed up to the mid forties this afternoon. I’m getting tired of bundling up like Nanook of the north just to sit at my desk.
After KP tonight, I’ll begin a new project, as I finished up one last evening.
I’m glad others have good experience with Hampton Inns, maybe it’s just to local one, I went to check out and nobody was at the front desk. About 4 of us ended up in line there, still nobody and a couple folks just left their door cards and departed. I wanted a receipt and waited, finally someone showed up and took care of it, but they’d better not be sending me any evalutions…still, qualified for a free night with Hotels.com, so there is that.
Then home…Painters got there about 8:30am, had a lot of prep work to do so I retired to the bedroom to read and stay out of their way. About 1:30pm I called the fence people, they hadn’t heard from their guy yet, but would get back to be. 2:30pm and I got back to the fence folks, they finally told me that he had run into problems with his previous job and would be here Thursday at 9am…we’ll see. Meanwhile the painters (at the end I had 4 guys working here) told me there was a big box on my doorstep. Turns out the TV stand I ordered Moanday which was supposed to arrive Friday came out today. Moved it to the garage (it’s boxed and some assembly required) and I will open it up this weekend. No sooner than that was done than another one of the painters found termite damage. Fortunately it looks old and vacant, but since I pay Cook’s pest control a nice sum of money each year for termite control, I called them up to come out a see it–unfortunately they spelled my address wrong (it ends in an R not an N) and he ended up way over the other side of the city, so he’ll be by tomorrow. And then my bedroom came about 6pm…but instead of the entire Bedroom set, I got the mattress and foundation (no frame) and no furniture. Sent them a note since I had made sure to visit both parts of the store (Furniture Row is several stores connected, but each does it’'s business separately) to get it all, expect some apologies tomorrow and maybe another delivery.
SO…Thursday will hopefully see the painting done, the termite spot inspected and dealt with, new fencing in place, and perhaps some drawers to put my stuff in.
Sometimes I wished I just waited until the whole damn place was falling down…
All y’all take care of yourselves, they’ll kick me out of the libel-larry inabout 40 minutes, then I get to try out my new mattress.
What good drugs? I’m allowed Tramidol and Acetaminophen, neither of which I’m excited about, but I will take acetaminophen just in case. I asked the nurse if I could have morphine, she just laughed.
I am home, with 4 small holes in my belly, and pretty sore. Can’t shower until Friday (according to doc) or Saturday (according to nurse) We’ll see how I feel (smell) on Friday. I woulda checked in earlier but I sat down in my recliner and fell asleep. Now I’m eating leftover soup, (Tom Ka), and catching up on my computering.
Yay for no more rascally gallbladder! It’s crazy to think about how they snake it out via a little hole in your navel unlike the old days where you were split halfway open.
As for the pre-op instructions, I’ve never had anything about fresh sheets and no dog on the bed. Think I once got the bottle of special soap to use before heading to the hospital, and I’ve had about 14 surgeries in my adult life.
I wish I kept the receipt for this body as it’s broken again. At a “6” level (or BEES! on the new scale) pain today.
Two hours in the dentist’s chair. Yeah, I’m supposed to go in for a cleaning every three to six months. Is two years really that bad?
The check from our tenant was late. He sent another one, which arrived Saturday. I deposited it today. Got back from the dentist, and there was the missing check. The Post Office delivered it to a similarly-named street. (They seem to mis-deliver a lot of mail up here – even to NOT similarly-named streets.) The tenant is going to see if he can put a stop on the stop payment. If he can, I can use it for February. I guess I’d better fish it out of the shred bin.
another cold day. I had to take Canadian Dave to a doctor’s appointment, since his car was in the shop. I made chicken with wild rice blend and green beans for dinner.
Damn bumba! You let them play with knives on you and they didn’t give you the good stuff? So not fair.
You have a Canadian Dave in your world too doggio? The one I know rides down here from Quebec every Labor Day on his bike for a campout. His first name, nationality and the bike are the reason for his moniker.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy (well, dark) with a predicted high of 61 and maybe rain this mornin’. Tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be rainy. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is to head over to the church house to take care of some [del]church janitor[/del] Junior Warden duties. We have our annual meetin’ on February 2nd to elect three new members to the Vestry and then the Vestry meets to vote on who will serve as Senior and Junior Wardens. I know this much. I shall not be Junior Warden as of that meetin’. A year of this has been quite enough thankyouverymuch. I yanked a poke roast outta da freezer for sup. I envision that, baked sweet N.O.T., green beans, and rolls will comprise said sup.
Bumba glad you’re on the mend.
{{{Gotti}}} hope you’re feelin’ better and in less pain today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Le Sigh.
I woke up too early and tried to go back to sleep, but that wasn’t happening. It’s not like I can’t take a nap later if I need to.
I’m sure I’ll need to.
Well, if I wasn’t awake before, that serenade did it. Thanks, swampy! And thanks, also, sari! For those keeping score, this is 66, my official full retirement age according to SS, which, of course, explains the whole retirement thing.
You guys may have Canadian Dave, but we’ve got Amish Dave - he’s the guy who does our mower maintenance. It is rather perplexing - they won’t use electricity or cars, but they’re OK with small engines, and Dave does a pretty good job for us. In fact, we need to get the mower over to him during the off-season so it’s ready for spring.
I can’t decide between pulling a poke roast out of the freezer for supper or making **FCD **take me out. Decisions, decisions…
Home from the horsepistol since Tuesday evening. Hubs is doing real good. Not well but way way better. I mistook the next to last stair for the bottom stare and fell on my arse and twisted both ankles on the morning I picked him up. This was at home at 0500 in the dark. I have an appt in about an hour to get ankles checked. I can walk painfully. This was just about the last thing I needed.
hugs for Sunny and VOW. I posted it in the old MMP. That’s how fubar my brain is.
I thought my full retirement age was 68, but it is 66 years and 6 months. Closer than I thought.
I hope to have the house and truck paid off by then, two big expenses gone.
I’ll probably keep irking until I can’t anymore, but sitting on my ass at home answering the phone isn’t so hard. Sometimes irritating, but never hard.
I think you should go out to dinner.
Doesn’t Red Robin give you free stuff on your birthday?
I hope all your renovating/delivery/fencing plans go smoothly today, MetalMouse
I’ve been thinking of things I want to do here, not that they will happen anytime soon. I kind of realized it may just be cheaper and easier to move.
One thing I have thought about is closing in the back porch and making it into a laundry/mud room and coat closet. Then I realized that it would block the kitchen window. I like sunlight.
Hey, I just joined the 21st century and got wireless service. The painters have finished the first coat on the Living/Dining area and are working on the second coat. It’s raining so the fence will be delayed–again, and the pest guys just got a call, still haven’t seen them. Such in home improvement this day and age.
Butters, I think you’re snakebit here, it’s like a colony of beavers-one dam thing after another. Hope everybody gets well soon (I expect the pup to get sick next).
