If you can’t project faith in yourself (or can’t mask your desperation for a partner), the message you’re giving the object of your desire is “you’ll probably think I’m not good enough for you and reject me, like everyone else does”. This will become a self-fulfilling prophecy – unless you’re (un)fortunate enough to meet someone who’s looking for a partner to rescue.
In short, Queen’s “Somebody to Love” is a great song to belt out at karaoke, but it’s a lousy way to look at life.
