(Old) A Big Birthday in the MMP

Yep. That was it. I’d done most of the qualifications and worked my way up to $25-30/hr jobs with the occasional higher job. I even got the projects that said they were sending them your way because you had demonstrated your expertise. I had read that this could happen like this for no apparent reason and so it did.

I tentatively had another job offer today. Still waiting to see what the pay is. Tomorrow I have a phone interview with a place that I used to work at and would like to work at again which just happens to be in a building that can be seen from where MusicMan works. Hopefully it will go well.

Great news for me …

I finally got a job. It’s only part-time (30 hours) but I’ve got some side hustles to make up for it. But the thing is, it is pretty much my dream job … or at least a rung to it.

Beginning next Monday I will be a new Canine Coach at Dogtopia. Basically, I’ll be in charge of a room full day-care dogs for about six hours a day … keeping them safe, entertained, under control, clean … it’s a constant roaming of keeping your eyes on the pups and cleaning up after their messes, giving them treats and crating them for shift changes. There are more full time positions available which I’m hoping to exploit with exemplary work.

Bob can come with me to work every day so that is a super-plus-crazy-fuck-yeah bonus for me, although owners aren’t allowed to supervise their own dogs. Makes sense - avoids resource guarding and favortism and stuff like that.

I’m pretty excited. I’m still going to be broke, but at least I’ll be able to prove I have a job so apartment applications will be smoothed out.

Also … this weekend at my regular pub, there is the big all day skate event where a bunch of bands, most of whom are friends, will be playing and I may get a chance to jam, not to mention that I’ll probably be bar-backing later that night, so I am fucking rolling right now. This beats khaki pants and TPS reports any day of the week.

Irk today isn’t fun. BMCRA wants tasks to be ticket through their system. I submitted a merge request for an international credit report. The ticket was closed. It turns out that this task can’t be completed by opening a ticket. It took a lot of back-and-forth until a got a department who could handle it. They say it should be done sometime in late-September.

Then we have a company that changed their accounting system. I think I’ve mentioned before that BMCRA says they want raw data, and that they can handle anything. Except this customer’s files. So I had to write programs to fix the files for them. But there’s a catch: The files contain non-display characters that break records when the Excel file is converted to a text file. If I were in the orifice, I could change ALT+010 to pipes; but I’m telecommuting and can’t do that from my Mac. And besides, not all of the NDCs are ALT+010. There are others I can’t identify. So I have to copy the file into Word and change Manual line breaks into pipes, then copy it back into Excel. Word has not been responding for quite a while now.

Two of my aunts had some sort of argument during, or shortly after, World War II. They lived in the same neighborhood, shopped at the same stores and went to the same church. They never spoke again. When I visited them I was told not to mention them to each other.

I heard that Aunt Mary had a very self satisfied smile during Aunt Theresa’s funeral in about 1985 or so. Aunt Mary died not long after that. When I asked about what caused the argument my Mom told me that it was none of my business and to forget about it.

Irish people can out stubborn a mule

Nice!
I wonder if they’ll do each other’s work & charge themselves. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That entire post made me happy for you!

I just had to turn on the (portable) a/c. It’s only 72 Ferrets in the house, but it’s a muggy day.

Wow! Not only do your cats have their own chair and blankie, but pillows too!

Another triple digit day in middle Tennessee. At irk, I got a batch of phones with serial numbers in one of my locations, but the inventory listed elsewhere. Once I get a total list, I’ll have to turn it over to the Research department to fix because I don’t have the log in to do it. C’est le guerre!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’m sure you have a bit of an advantage because all of your ex-coworkers remember you fondly. I sure do hope it happens!

Wow, that whole things sounds great. I’m super happy for you and Bob. May you move up to full time soon

I love it! Consider that to be stolen cause I’m going to use it at some point or another!

snert!

But hey, if we can convince a couple of young family men to do something to reduce their plastic waste while saving money, that’s a karma point for each of us.

The mounting arm for my monitor arrived yesterday and hubs screwed it onto my desk today. It’s a cheap POS, we will use it until a different one arrives and then back it will go.

We think that if we are going to do something, we should do it right!

I like to keep them on easily washable surfaces. Tossing the blankies and pillows in the washer is much easier than vacuuming fur off furniture.

Our receptionist sent out an email saying that a certain person has left a company, and is now working for another company, which she named in the email. The Account Executive, who often just rubs me the wrong way, replied ‘No way. Any idea where she went?’

This is how I ended up with leather furniture. Dust, wipe, done.

Congrats! It sounds like a dream job.

Most of our furniture is overstuffed microfiber. Easy to clean but still has all sorts of creases and seams for cat hair to get stuck on/in.

We didn’t like leather furniture in AZ because it was so sticky. Maybe that will be different here where there is humidity involved. I’m going to be putting an armchair in my room, or maybe a wing-back one if I can find something I like. I’ll look at leather again

Howdy Y’all! I had typed out a post earlier, but it got et. That got me pissed off, so had to leave the electronics alone for a while. Worked out to my advantage as a big tboomer rolled through and we sat out on the back porch with beerverages watchin’ it. Calmed me right down. We procured provisions, accomplished nappage, then et a hyuuuuuuge sup of which there are leftovers for tomorrow.

MOOOOOOM True we were in our forties, but we were standin’ on 50’s front porch. Hope SIL’s vehicle is not too badly damaged.

Taters you can’t tell folks what they don’t want to hear. Not your fault they won’t heed your words of wisdom. :: skritches :: to the puppers!

Metal_Mouse HOPE THE HEARIN’ AIDS HELP YOU HEAR BETTER. I have a grudge with the local Steak 'n Shake. The service is soooooo bad there, it makes me not want to to to any Steak 'n Shake.

JtC yay on plumbin’ bein’ made right! Good idea on gettin’ the water heater replaced now. Also, yay for workin’ dishwasher!

JBats yay on the new gig! As I recall, this is a job you were super interested in, right?

Dogtopia! Excellent!

I have dollar store throws because the cats don’t like the leather in the summer.

Good evening all. Got back a little while ago from a couple hours at the soccer field preceded by 1.25 miles of backstroking, so calories got burned in abundance. Still in the 80’s but sunset has occurred so I expect it will cool down some. Have consumed the evening chee-burger and will spend the night re-hydrating.

Coppertone, glad the dentist could be of assistance.

Wheelie, glad to hear your home and active. And I would have also answered a dog, it was Laika (IIRC) in a Russian capsule (our first animal in space was the Chimpanzee Ham, again IIRC).

JtC, sounds like you might make a few R/O sales down there in WV.

Sticky Buns, bad news on the job but sounds like you have some options and hopefully you’ll land a good one.

J-Bats, can’t think of a job that you would enjoy more and hope it works for the best. Enjoy the bands and the bar.

flyboy, not sure I understand all your problems, but am very happy they are not my problems…

swampy, haven’t been to Steak-n-Shake in quite some time, their service kept getting worse and worse.

What was that again??

And that’s all for this night. Take care and I’ll catch y’all on Thorsday.

  1. Big Corporation has too many divisions, and no easy way to contact the right one.
  2. Loudmouth AE doesn’t bother to read the freakin’ email.

I napped. I martini-ed. Dinner was salad and chicken with cavatappi. Spot continues to nap.

Works for me.

[Lumbergh]that would be great[/Lumbergh]

Jbats That’s great news!! Hope it all goes well.

JtC Uhhm remind me what R/O is?

Off to sleep at 10:45. Either getting old or I’m ill.

Y’all stay safe and healthy.

Finished cake, off to sleep because dr. appointment at 9.
Please no weirdass dreams.
