(Old) A Big Birthday in the MMP

So no “getting pursued by assorted Terminators and T. rexes through abandoned cities”?

I would welcome that. Have you seen my dreams?

I’ll help Jane out here, it’s Reverse Osmosis (see Reverse osmosis - Wikipedia)

Just ran across someone calling a TV fictional character, “Polite, threatening, and poignant” and damn, I want to go into my grave being called that.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I wonder what madness awaits?

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 17c/63f with a predicted high of 24c/74f, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s sort of gloomy as fuck outside. It’s like a fucking goth weather day.” It’s not that bad outside just now, there’s a thunderstorm warning all day but also no rain in the forecast. I want my thunderboomers!!

I hope they make an appreciable difference for you! One of my friends has hearing aids but rarely uses them because he says they just amplify background noise for him - of course, we tell him to go and get them checked out, get his hearing tested again, look at alternatives…but that falls on, well, deaf ears!

Glad you got home safely, and a weekend of sloth was definitely in order!

Sounds like a good day all round. The fuzzbutts will forgive you, once you’ve paid the taxes and provided the correct level of tribute.

Hurrah! Sounds like the perfect job for you, and Bob gets to come along too which is even better.

I left work a bit earlier than usual yesterday for a slower walk up to the station because it was so hot out there, and even hotter in our office. Trains from campus were predictably late, but I managed to get my connecting service in the Big City Station. Got home and did my evening chores, then had dinner and went to the pub with my friends. We went to a little country pub and sat outside all evening so naturally I’m now covered in bug bites.

Nothing exciting in my day today, I have lots of things to do but nothing particularly interesting so it’ll be a day of pottering through work. I took some chicken out of the freezer so will concoct something for dinner tonight, probably curry as I’ve got a very quick and simple recipe for that.

I am tired today so I think an early night is in order, and might put the bedroom a/c on so I get some better sleep.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 93 and mostly N.O.S. New Priest is officially on board this mornin’. OYKW will chauffeur me over to the church house this mornin’ to take care of candle and other duties, or I’ll take his vehicle and he’ll stay here. Depends on what he desires to do. I want to stick my haid in and say hi to NP if that’s possible, but do understand that he’ll be really busy with stuff on his first day. Quality cee-mint pond time is also on the agenda along with nappage, day drinkin’ and other assorted RDOS inactivity. Sup shall be leftovers from last night’s sup.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 61F and clear outside, with an expected high temperature of 91F and abundant sunshine. That’s too warm for me, but I can do nothing about that.

Today is my last day of work until the 19th. Finally!

I have about three meetings today, and the rest of the day will be spent tying up loose ends (as much as possible) and bringing the MPA up to speed.

The SharePoint project has grown because I’ve now been asked to assist another program in creating its page. Surprise! Not! We had our weekly ELT meeting yesterday, and the SD insisted I share what I had made so far with the rest of the management team. The PIO was “I’m turning this all over to YOU, D”, and both I and the SD firmly replied, “No, you are NOT!” I think what will mostly like happen is that I will create the pages, and the PIO will be responsible for some content that revolves around success stories, SD/DD happenings, etc. In the end, I have a feeling this will become a regular thing for me.

Everyone really loved what I had done, and I guess that’s good, but that’s when I received a separate message asking me to help put together another program page. Additionally, they’ve decided they want two or three other pages specific to certain things, like our work with the tribes here in the state. You know I’ll get sucked into that too.

Bah, it’s VA-CAY, baby! I’m not gonna fret.

Swampy, I hope you get to say hello to NP.

Metal Mouse, yay for help with hearing! I hope these work out!

JBats, congrats on the new job!

JtC, look at you being the very convincing sales lady!

I have leather furniture and have had it for years. With dogs, it’s just better. I do keep the leather covered now because Buster and Maisie are into everything, and I really don’t want ground-in dirt in my leather. I have specific waterproof blankets made especially for pets. I didn’t have to do that for Polar in the last several years, but these pups are into everything and churn up a lot of dirt.

flyboy, it’s so irritating when people don’t actually read manuals or emails.

Wheelie, I’m glad you’re back home. I hope you’re able to relax, too!

Okay, time for more coffee!

No caffeine this morning, dammit. I leave in just about 2 hours for my stress test - I’ll be there 3-4 hours according to the info sheet. So it’ll be a no-caffeine day in its entirety, since I avoid it after lunch time.

It’s also going to be a tired day. I might have gotten 4 anna half hours of sleep, maybe. I woke around 1:30 when nature called. Then my bandage started itching and it got worse and worse as time ticked by, and around 4, I surrendered and changed it for a wrapped dressing. I was finally able to fall back to sleep. Then FCD got up to pee, which woke me, and when he got back in bed, between his snoring and twitching, I kinda sorta dozed a bit. I’m showered and dressed and breakfasted (sans Diet Coke) so there’s that.

If MIL doesn’t get up in the next hour, I need to wake her so I can drug her and feed her before I go. I also need to pack myself a lunch - probably a sammich and some grapes. My appt is at 10:30 and they want me there by 10:15, so I’ll have to leave here before 10. I love my county, but everything is so far away. Oh well…

MIL has been hankerin’ for pizza - that’ll be supper tonight, at least for them. I don’t want to blow all my calories on such a small serving, so I’ll have leftovers. Supper, at least, is planned for today.

Hot day with maybe some widespread t-boomers this afternoon. Not that it matters to me - I’ll be getting my stress tested, then I’ll come home and crash.

Are you going to ignore calls and emails from work?? You should, you know.

OK, I’d better make my lunch. It’s gonna be a long day.

Happy Thursday and Happy Start of August!!

One of the elevators crapped out yesterday. Imagine a 15 story building full of people with walkers and wheelchairs and only one elevator. Total mayhem, especially at meal time. And wouldn’t you know it, we are desperately in need of doing a wash. No estimate as to when they will have the needed repair part. Luckily we chose to be on the third floor, so we can walk down if needed, but things are gonna get ugly for those on the upper floors.

Brutal heat and humidity yesterday, which is going to continue for awhile.

Made a loaf of zucchini bread yesterday, which came out nice.

Morning all. Have micturated and pilled myself and am waiting for the proper passage of time before breaking fast, so just another exciting morning in the mouse’s hidey-hole. It is 81F already heading to 95F so hot-hot-hot and outdoors activity will be limited to some soccer practicing in the late afternoon/early evening. Do need to work up a shopping list for the Great August Shopping trip tomorrow, am having to improvise a bit on meals the last couple of days as I’m running low, but I want those 4X Kroger points since my car is needing fueling soon.

Well, you know, you could call Hannibal Lecter that… :scream:

Think this covers it (you need to take out the space after the //): https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAoBW3yjlvA

boo fae, I’m going through a professional ENT (Ear/Nost/Throat) office and they promise to adjust them for my problems, so we’ll see if the cost of doing it that way is justified. Hope the trains are on time tonight.

swampy, enjoy churchin’ and hope NP is a nice guy and makes a few minutes for you.

Taters, you are laboring under the Curse of the Compentent; the more competent you are, the more tempting it is to load other work on you instead of the less competent. Enjoy your vacation and I concur with the others in not anwering calls or messages until the 18th at the earliest. ENJOY!!

Cookie, elevator woes is one reason I’m not thrilled about looking to move to an apartment setting. And third floor is a good choice, fewer steps and as they used to tell me in security briefings, close enough for fire truck ladders to reach you in case of a fire.

And time to break fast and get about the day. Have a good Thorsday all (it is Thorsday, isn’t it?).

Sitting here waiting for my stress test. Wonder how long it will take… They said 3-4 hours, so we shall see.

Is the sitting and waiting a part of the stress test?

Exactly why we chose it. We were offered a place on the 14th floor or this one. Tried to take the laundry down, but no success. We’ll try tonight after everyone has finished dinner. The real pisser in all this is that this building was designed to be a 55+ facility, but they decided to only put in two elevators, and no freight elevator, which means any time there is an ambulance call-out (which are fairly frequent), or someone is moving in or out (also frequent), we’re down to one lift. It was short-sighted and cheap.

Well. All blood work was fine. Got another scrip for a bp cuff to take to a place that can fill it.
Bp was 148/88 so she’s changing my amlodipine from 2.5 to 5.
Hopefully quitting the prempro will help also.
Off to library, grocery store, etc.

Happy Cake day!

While I’m agreeing that making you wait is part of the stress test, I’m not sure why it would take that long. All they would have to do is tell you that BIL was in the process of moving into your basement to get all the data they need.

Today I woke up to fog and rain. It was beautiful, I took my coffee out on the porch and enjoyed it. It’s cleared up now and will probably get to the high 80’s this afternoon, but it was glorious for a while.

Our dishwasher works just like it should and I want to take the drainer off the counter and give it to a thrift store. Hubs wants to put it in his shed in case we need it. Grrrrrr! If our dishwasher breaks, we will have forgotten that the drainer is in the shed and will buy a new one. That he will want to put in the shed when we no longer need it.

I know it is his shed, but I am also pretty sure that I’m the one who will be cleaning it out some day. Grumbles.

GG is teaching Bella to talk. Cats don’t usually meow at each other, they meow at humans because we are too stoopid to get their non-verbal communication like other cats do. GG doesn’t know that though and was brought up by a very mouthy cat. He talks to Bella and she is starting to answer him.

So enough people showed up today that it went well. Weird. I was over on the 100 Slide, and helping the Senior Clerk with basic stuff, so she could do Senior Clerk stuff. Which pissed her off. I did my Senior Day shopping after work, grabbed some ice cream for vacation.

It feels like being in the steel box in summer.

Yay!

I think you have enough stress in your life. But
:partying_face: :cake: :champagne:HAPPY DOPERVERSARY!!!:champagne::cake::partying_face:

Yay!

Test, not drive her into madness.

“Ugh. Fine. I will address you in Servant speak.” - Bella

coppertone With my BP cuff I do it twice, it’ll be 20 points different over 2 minutes. Also there’s the “white coat fever” where your BP goes up at the office.

FCM Happy cake day!

Mental health day and feet elevated day for me. Lyme is still kicking my ass.

So it seems. I had the first scan but mostly, I’ve been waiting. Lots of people also waiting. Guess that’s why it takes so long.

OMG - 24 years today! I missed the cake. Now I want cake!

I did eat my half sammich. Not going to mess with the cuke and grapes till after the treadmill. Hope that happens soon. Glad I brought my tablet.

grab a cake on the way home. test treat and doperversary!

whoot!
