(Old) A Big Birthday in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 79 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. with a heat advisory in effect. Today shall be a day of high RDOS inactivity. There will be quality cee-mint pond time, nappage, and day drinkin’ for sure. We shall break fast for sup, as there is some leftover ham. I envision ham 'n cheese omelets, grits, and I shall bake up some frozen (don’t judge!) bizkits.

JtC ‘tis watermelon season in these parts so we have eaten a ton of local grown watermelon. Nuttin’ like it. Glad you got the bed all tarted up to your likin’, and apparently, to GG’s likin’.

sari hope your computer woes are fixable. However, sometimes one must bite the bullet and get a new one.

VanGo hope you’re over the hiccups this mornin’.

shoe glad Monkey is OK. Hope all the irk problems get fixed soonest. Irk is bad enough without faulty equipment to deal with.

BooFae your high temps sound like Autumn to me. Hope it doesn’t get too hot in the orifice. I live in the land of a/c, so that’s how we get through hawt weather.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all!

Have you seen the toddlers that pass for doctors and dentists these days?? Doogie Howard wasn’t just a TV show - it was a prediction!!! OK, my cardiologist does have some gray hair, but still…

Have you looked in his shed? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

But with the wisdom and finances that came in the later years, right?

When that happened to FCD, it was just an unexpected kitteh tongue.

Have you ever tried holding your breath for 30 seconds? That works for me, FWIW.

No, but I had grapes - that kinda rhymes with cake.

I woke with a screaming headache, most likely because of yesterday’s lack of caffeine. This morning’s Diet Coke seems to be fixing it, so yay! Oh, and I got almost 8 hours of solid slumber! So huzzah for that! But mostly, today my stitches come out!! :confetti_ball: :champagne: :wine_glass: :sparkler: My appointment is at 10:15 and Christine is pretty good about running on schedule.

After I get home, it’s laundry day. But since I’m down that end of town, I may run into WalMart. We shall see.

We were going to go to a ballgame this evening. BIL was being a butt and didn’t want to come stay with MIL (we didn’t want to leave her for possibly 5 hours) so we told Daughter we’d meet them for supper with MIL, then come home. Well, they’d decided they didn’t want to be out that late with the kids and opted for a movie instead. Bottom line - we’re meeting at Olive Garden for supper then they’re going to the movie and we’ll come home. It gives MIL an outing and we don’t have to sit in a gawd-awful hot stadium, then drive an hour to get home. I call that a win.

But BIL is still a butt.

On the plus side, for whatever reason, the electricians have started work on our boat now instead of next month - it’s got 3 new batteries and the new transformer and battery charger have been ordered. The head electrician wants to buy one of the other transformers, and he’s pretty sure we’ll be able to sell the other one easily to another boat owner. The problem was that they were built in Belgium and the power in Europe is different enough that at 50 Amps, the transformers won’t work here. But at 30 Amps (which is what smaller boats use) they’ll be fine. So it won’t be a total loss. FCD is pissed, tho, because he spoke to the engineers in Belgium and apparently they were unaware of this issue. Our new transformer won’t have the same problem.

FCD has been doing a bunch of the grunt work (like pulling wires and removing old equipment) so we’re not paying $125/hr for someone else to do it. He’s also been there discussing with them the placement of the new equipment - the new transformer is too big and heavy for the bulkhead mount, so it’s going in a locker where it can be properly supported. Anyway, we might actually get to go somewhere before the year is out. Maybe… even if it’s just Baltimore.

Well, the caffeine has eased my headache and the house is still quiet, so I’m going to finish my surfing before I have to drug MIL.

Happy Firday!!

Morning all. Have finished the grocery list and will head off for the Great August Shopping trip in a bit, letting the schools settle down before going. Have multiple digital and paper coupons, so we’ll see if I can employ them correctly. They are saying there is a 75% chance for a thunderstorm around noontime, but it’s bright and clear outside now.

Ummm, I thought he had to be…(hey, if a 72-year old can’t make a sniggering teenage joke now and then, what’s life for?). And can’t say I blame him for banishing the cats, the new kid might be inquisitive…

shoe, hope the owner gets on the ball and has the stuff repaired. Glad to hear Monkey is doing fine.

VanGO, absolutely, fuck hiccups.

boo fae, sounds like Murphy missed his connection and you made all of yours. May your luck continue to be good.

Most assuredly. And a Happy De-Stitching Day! And hope the electrical problems get resolved with a least modest damage to the wallet.

And please don’t run into any bridges there…

OK, need to get dressed, start my load of laundry and head off to collect my groceries and those 4X Kroger Points, since the gas tank is nearing empty. Have a good Firday all.

If you say that rapidly and repeatedly, it sounds like you’re hiccupping.

Unless you’re allergic, try a spoonful of peanut butter.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, a load of towels in the dryer, clothes in the wash and fixing to do KP / houseirk. Later, I’ll swing by the apartment office to sign my lease, adult to make a necessary call and bundle up what I hope is the last return for a while (defective insulin pens). So goes the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I was passed around like a bong at a Dead show today. Smalls, the Mez, 100 Slide, Orange 32, retaping in Unload. Hot work. TIL that he Sirius Sinatra channel does 24 hours of nothing but Sinatra on the 1st Friday of the month, so I had that on while I ran some errands. I stopped at Aldi to get bran flakes, since Teeter discontinued theirs, adn just has the Kroger organic kind, which tastes vaguely of sawdust. Harrumph! Wait, listening to Frank, which kvetching about bran? Am I turning into a cranky old man? Anyways, 1 more shift till vacation!

I read that as going out for a pig

Well, that was a busy morning, but I got everything on my list (and a couple more things to boot), did my load of laundry, and gassed up car with a $1.00/gallon discount thanks to spending large sums at several Kroger stores (had to stop at three of them to find 12-packs of Diet Pepsi, but buy 2, get 2 free is just too good a deal). Was just getting in my car at the gas station (my last stop) when the rain started, so avoided getting a drop on me. Everything is put where it’s supposed to be, I have a bellyful of White Castles, it’s not even noon yet, and all is right with the world. Still need to get the Firday swimming in, but that can wait an hour or so.

Onward into the afternoon!

Who knew you sere such a smart-ass?!?!? :stuck_out_tongue:

Stitch removal was semi-successful. She, then a nurse, got 8 or the 10 out. The last 2 are apparently under a scab plus some swelling, and neither wanted to mess with that. So I’m to let it dry out and contact them when the stitches are visible. FCD can monitor them for me.

I got a bit woozy part way thru and Christine had to bring me an ice pack for my head. I’m such a wuss about certain medical stuff. This time, I couldn’t even go to my happy place, which is why I was woozy. But I got over it by the time they gave up.

Now I’m just waiting for MIL to call so I can fetch her home. First load in the washer, at least 3 more to go, possibly 4. We’ll see. I’ve lunched and I’m about to plop down in my recliner till it’s time for the second load.

Never dull hereabouts.

One of my co-workers is prone to hiccups.

I am a smart-ass. (Her work appropriate term is “funny butt.”)

Put the two together, and you get …

Sometimes when she starts hiccuping, I’ll walk up behind her and in a quiet, deadpan voice, like I’m discussing the most boring topic imaginable, say, “Boo.”

It usually makes her laugh, which is a good way to get rid of hiccups in the first place.

Big lulz at how many remedies have been posted, before and after, your post.

ETA: including mine.

FCD picked up MIL. Third load in the washer, second in the dryer. We’re going to Texas roadhouse because Olive garden doesn’t do soup and salad for supper and the rest of their menu is way too high in calories.

That’s the latest from FairyChatEstate.

Some men can be so dramatic about that sort of thing, LOL!!!

Isn’t that just a given?

HURRAY!!!

I do have a newspaper subscription nowadays and if I save them up for a week, I get a good sized roll…

Our housekeeper was supposed to come over today, but called off sick so our almost no plans turned into no plans at all. She’s coming over on Tuesday but I still wanted the floors swept and the kitchen mopped, so that happened. Hubs ran their fountain through the dishwasher and put it back together.

I’ve got some marinara sauce going and am really missing the contents of our freezer in AZ. My tomato sauce and paste is so much better than store bought stuff. Next year won’t be any better, because it is too late to plant this year.

I’m starting to see signs advertising the Apple Butter Festival. I’m looking forward to it, we love that sort of thing (even if we don’t like apple butter). I haven’t seen signs of apple orchards anywhere (but I haven’t been everywhere) and WV isn’t known for their bountiful apple crop so I’ve been asking folks where the apples come from.

Hubs says I need to stop doing that, they always bluescreen for a minute or so when they realize they’ve lived here all their lives and have been to the festival every year that they can remember…but never once thought about where the apples came from.

Speaking of who, I haz a jealous. Hubs stretched out in his recliner and GG assumed his position curled up between Hubs’ knees. Bella thought about it for a few seconds and jumped up and curled up on Hubs thigh and they all took a group nap.

I’m glad we brought her home, she fits our family so well.

Howdy Y’all! An executive decision was made to go to the not too shabby hog trough Chinese buffet for today’s main feed. Guess we’ll do omelets tomorrow. It clouded up, so no quality cee-mint pond time was had. Hence the decision to go out. It started to rain then tboom just after noon, so that made for some great nappage. Been pretty clouded since then which has helped with the heat index, so no complaints. A really nice RDOS day here at da cave. Next up is Netflix, chill, and popcorn!

Well, the rain earlier today has cancelled the planned soccer practice, so have to wait for tomorrow. Did about half the swimming I usually do (been going out into the 90F heat after fully exercising at the gym to do soccer practice and it was making me a little light-headed) so I might go back over this evening and get the second half in. First though is the Big Bowl O’Salad for dinner.

I have my moments. And hey, 80% removal ain’t a bad score.

…And I don’t need two angry women plotting reprisals, so I’ll behave good now…

Back from Tx Roadhouse. I put the last load into the dryer. Max chillage mode.

Groceries are bought, lease signed, return shipped, some reorganization done in the studio and I played around with the new (to me) Cricut some. I did a card and some bookmarks using up some scraps. I may message a friend who teaches fourth grade and see if she’d like some of the locker bookmarks for her new class. Such excitement!

Nearly unbelievable great news here… Today MusicMan got a call from someone at the VA. She called to apologize for the mistake and let him know that he was getting rated after all! We were both still a bit suspicious at first, but the official letter was in the file online so we printed it and have been celebrating ever since. Apparently there was some kind of computer glitch that had dumped out his service record of health stuff. When it came back it was obvious that he deserved to be rated.

In other news, I just turned down another job offer today. The money was good, but the drive would have been a bit much. In reality, though, I did this for the actual reason that I really don’t want to teach unless necessary and I felt that my mental health was more important than the pay that this would bring us. It was a scary step to take, but in a way, I feel like that decision this morning was rewarded by that phone call tonight which will, in practicality, mean that I don’t need to worry so much about making all the money.

Bella is in heat. She has been displaying the signs for a couple of days, but we got her from a reputable rescue so we both thought we were imagining things.

Nope, she’s displaying and calling and just confusing poor GG to death.

And of course this really got obvious after COB on a Friday. The rescue is open 7 days a week, we will contact them tomorrow. This just sucks. I’m pretty pissed off TBH. Had we known that she had slipped through the cracks, we would have already made a spay appointment. She’s our cat now, we aren’t going to return her, we just want her fixed right away.

I went to the library today, picked up some cheap used books. I have 6 right now; in case theres another lockdown I will need books.
Then I got on the bus to the grocery store and ran into my old friend whom I refer to on here as maganut.
It gave me the sads, as we’d been friends for 8 years, tried to date 4 years ago, and were going to get together last Sept. but my being vaxxed made him cancel all that.
I thought I didn’t have any feels left, but apparently I do, and I’m glad he lives in a neighboring city and I don’t see him often.
Also my pastors wife drove me to the medical supply place and ordered my blood pressure cuff.
Dorito salad for supper.

George has been snipped, right?
