(Old) A Drinking Problem in the MMP

Uup, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Woke around 3:30 and that was that. Dammit. Gonna be a long kid day, too, especially with crappy weather. Oh well.

Daughter and fambly are going to Wolf Lodge this weekend so we’re keeping her dog. Last time he was here, he peed all over the place. She claims he doesn’t do that any longer. I’ll make sure to toss him outside frequently. He’s an old pug, so he sleeps most of the time. And he’s deaf - that adds an interesting dimension. So I guess we’ll see.

Hoping FCD hears back from the doc today. We suspect it’s some sort of infection, but since we’re neither doctors nor play one on TV… Always something.

And his mom - last night she felt compelled to call us and tell us that we were under some sort of storm watch. OK - we have a TV and we watch the forecast. If she’d still been living in FL and heard about the weather here, she’d have still called. She’s sweet, but weird.

For now, I’m going to enjoy my quiet computer time.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 77 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 and N.O.S. for the day. Summer has definitely arrived! Today is laundry day. I can hardly contain myself. I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time after laundry is done. Of course there will be the usual sloth and general overall uselessness. Sup shall be tacos 'n fixin’s just cause it’s easy and, hey, tacos…
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Morning all. Up around 6am, thought it was later than that, so nappage is a possibility. Only 67F outside but heading to 90 later and no rain in the forecast. Might do some yardwork this morning, the grass around my driveway hasn’t been edged in years so I may take a crack at it, and also remove the nest that apparently failed from above my door (after finding something to put up there that will prevent further nestings) and any dead chicks I find. Then gym time as it becomes too hot to be active outside.

FCM, well, at least MIL is thinking of you…and can still use the phone. Hope the news for FCD is good.

doggio, hope the power stayed on.

Sunny, sounds like not a fun way to spend a day, sounds like it was a 7.8 on the Ouchdammiitometer. Hope it is helping.

OK, Lowe’s opened at 6am, so might toss on some clothes and head over there to see if and bird-proof things exist for a 40" x 1.5" alcove overhang. Have a good 2sday all.

Same with calling 911 and hanging up immediately but instead of EMTs, Police Officers show up.

I have been saying for years that men look their sexiest in a well fitting shirt, tie and suit!

And Hey, it’s Taco Tuesday

I come from a family of alcoholics. Some (like me) were able to escape it, and some (like my middle son) paid the ultimate price. The ravages that addiction inflicts on families are many and ugly. Glad you were able to set it aside. Remain vigilant, my friend, as it is always there looking for a weakness to pounce on.

That’s a nasty lover. I’m sure you have as many messy stories as well. It’s good you got out.

I remember your thread about that. That’s really sad.

I came from a family of generations of abusive ass***s and breaking the cycle of abuse was really important as well.

Metal Mouse, it took me a second to figure out that joke about checks.

FCM, concerning weird mothers-in-law: are there any that are normal?

I’m a mother-in-law! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Cheaper, but BIL uses a walker and wouldn’t be able to deal with the airport, crowds, etc. The private jet will take about 2.5 hours door to door. A commercial flight would take at least 8 hours. They live almost 2 hours from ORD and would have to change planes.

Good to hear of the successful medical stuff. And that FCD in particualr hasn’t yet killed himself by inattention to his medical sitaution. Good luck FCM, those are the worst problems to deal with; or at least the most frustrating.

Got home from work on Mon afternoon OK. Was having quiet evening at home with Her Ladyship when daughter called, reporting her almost-3yo daughter had crunched her fingers in a door and they were at the ED for stitches. And daughter needed something brought to them from the house. Cue Super-Mom to the rescue!! Which is funny because she’s usually full of how much she’s done being a parent, her daughter can sink or swim, etc.

Anyhow, suddenly I’m a bachelor for the rest of Mon evening. I was on-call for early Tues, and they’d likely be running real late at the hospital, so that worked well for me too. I went to bed early enough to have OK sleep if they called at the very first moment.

Of course at 1:30 in the morning I get a work alert. Note the show time, back to sleep. Up at 6am, riding the train in to work right now at not quite 9am. Should be fun, nearly ideal work. One hop down to Barbados, stay at a nice albeit raggedy beach front resort until crack-o-dawn tomorrow, then fly home.

Cheers to all, and {{hugs}} to the afflicted of whatever nature. I have been reading and following along all week.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s a whopping 16c/61f with a predicted high of 18c/65f and cloudy. That fits with what’s outside my window, and what it was like on my way to campus this morning. Weather app tells me that “It’s the perfect weather to clean your house. If you have a llama, it’s also a good day to brush your fucking llama.” Hmmm…nope, definitely no llamas here!

2Gig sounds like a perfect day, and congrats on the awards! Whatever you may think of them, awards are still awards

Mooooom* I hope FCD gets himself to a GP pretty quickly, there’s definitely something not right there and he needs to put your mind at ease as much as his own.

Cat Glove I’m sorry, I missed the thing about Hubs…add me to the list of people sending the most positive vibes to you both

nellie* it turns out that dead kettle wasn’t exactly completely dead after all, the base unit was the problem and I think the new kettle’s base unit is identical so we have one base and two kettles. Thus we now have a spare in case of another emergency. I don’t make coffee as I don’t drink it, 'im indoors has one of those stove top Italian coffee-makings things, and a couple of cafetieres as well that he uses. The only time I indulge in coffee is when it comes in an espresso martini, which he makes and uses the Italian oojicapivvie to do so.

flyboy you have a strange definition of vacation!

Fun times today, we have released our final year results and are now dealing with the deluge of moaning students who didn’t get what they thought they deserved. Time to break out the extra-sharp pointy stick and line up the Sri Lankan ninjas in case I need them as well.

it was a dark and stormy night in philly town. the cats and i watched the storms from the comfort of the bed, away from the windows. the lightening was constantly flashing.

this morning is one of those clear after a storm mornings. until the next round happens today.

i got a new subscription box last night. it was wonderful. i liked everything in it. usually i only like one or two things and gift the things i don’t like. so fun getting something other than bills in the post.

And it’s :taco: Tuesday! :taco:

He’s on his way to get some labs done. Hope it’s something easily addressed!

Morning, all. Do you know that if we could harness the energy of one kitten at 4:30am we could power a fair-sized city? Well, for about 15 minutes at least. Then the city would have to shut down for a nap.

2gig - Congrats on the Emmys! Regional or not. Even college health center condoms reward effort and teamwork!

I long for rain so that moss treatment on the roof will be dispersed!

I put the Moss B Ware into the shed yesterday.

You know it is here in the PNW–I treated the roof a werk ago when we were supposed to get a couple of days of rain, but we just got a drizzle. No rain in the forecast for the next 10 days.

Home briefly, as they need help at Day sort. :moneybag:

According to the texts from the power company, I was without power while I was at work. I hope Spot wasn’t trying to watch a movie.

I’m earnestly trying to catch up here, but now I’m really lost. Condoms rewarding effort and teamwork? This wasn’t covered at my University back in the seventies.

Sigh, I need to stop trying to read via my phone I guess.
