Having a Memorial Day family gathering on Monday. My son just told me that his daughter came out as trans, which wasn’t entirely shocking to me. Can’t be easy for a kid, and I wish her/him luck.

Was a bit chilly at 49 degrees at the park this morning.
Yesterday was a bit hectic. We made good time though, and got to the airport half an hour early.
And so, not one
but two Shar Pei puppies.
Echo is not happy, but she is coming around.
She’s tried playing with them a bit this morning, but they are at different levels.
I didn’t get much sleep last night, so a bit draggy today.

I don’t envy you in reference to the Texas BIL Mooooom. Sometimes, leaving the world makes life easier for those around you.
Well, Nelson is home from his dental work. He didn’t just get a couple of teeth pulled, but 5!1!1! There was an abcess and a few more had to go. He’s still a bit loopy, but was able to scarf down some chicken and rice with sweet potatoes. He’ll be on a soft diet for a couple of weeks, as well as antibiotics and pain meds. Right not, he’s just satisfied to be a lap puppy.

Howdy Y’all! Errands got run, nappage and day drinkin’ achieved, sup cooked and et and the kitchen cleanded up. Just another day in paradise for us. It’s been a very pleasant N.O.S. day with a high reachin’ only 80.

But yes, that is what was reported. As Fish and Game says sidewinders are not local to this area AND because sidewinders eat rodents and birds, not insects…I highly suspect the big city lady came upon an innocent little grass snek trying to get a bug dinner.

JtC, I suspect you’ll find a use for all that food…And I know of both sidewinders, the Military one and the Viper. Don’t think I would have panicked, but probably would have been very careful in getting my mail after that…

Had an interesting 3-mile trip to the gym. Was at the first red light when two cops cars with lights and sirens going flashed by us on the cross-roads…follow moments later by two more police SUVs from behind us. At the next intersection we had to stop while 3 more cars shot by, all of them moving fast and lights and sirens going. I could see them stopped a couple blocks ahead when I turned off towards the gym, but have no idea what got all of them so excited. I’ll keep an eye on the news.
Anyway, 500 calories are gone and have been replaced with a cheeseburger of my own creation, so I call it even. Internettin’ and readin’ are in the plans for tonight. Between typing this I’m watching the AMTRAK heading for Denver through what is called the Big 10 curve on my Virtual Railfan You Tube. Have to take that trip one of these days…

heh - she wants our loveseat. FCD measured it and paced it out for her. She still wants it. Which is fine - better than spending money unnecessarily. I figure it’ll end up back at our place before long, or eventually anyway.
I just finished putting a “slipcover” on her recliner that we’ve got in the basement. She’ll want it back after BIL gets his apartment and takes his recliner. So I got a cheap cover for it since Tobias will filthify it in no time. And, frankly, I think it looks better than the original. MIL used it in her bedroom - it’s short and so is she.

OK, time for some chillage before bed. I’m going over to MIL’s in the morning to set up the smart plugs (FINALLY!) before my Dr appt. Then off to the boat. Which will NOT be going to our marina tomorrow.
When the mechs were servicing the generator, they discovered the water pump is leaking and apparently has been for some time, so we need to wait for a replacement to arrive. Always something… However, we can start scrubbing where it is, so that’s the plan.

In my teens and 20’s and probably 30’s I loved weather over 80, even over 90; in late teens and early 20’s I was a sun goddess with beautiful white bikini. However, as I’ve aged, my standards have lowered. Now I like warm weather to be between 68 and 72 (and I wear a black one piece swimsuit).
As far as jobs go, my mantra is “Accounting is accounting wherever you go; debits are always on the left and credits are always on the right. What makes the job is who you work for and who you work with.” Perhaps it’s the same in librarianism i.e. that what makes the library job is who you work for and who you work with.
I sincerely hope it wasn’t a shooting.

Walked to work and somehow seemed to lose my ID badge. Was hoping maybe I left it at home but unable to locate. I’ll have to talk to the Department Exec Asst tomorrow. Had a quick lunch of cream of tomato basil soup and a leftover slice of pizza that I put more mozzarella on. Then went to Fitness Center to workout. While on NuStep, received a call then several texts from division manager. He’s new to managing and the kinds of situations that can arise. I’m happy to mentor him. Then stopped at Kroger to get the new circular and a half gallon of milk for Hubs. I think I’ve mentioned that I’ve been buying him either 2% or whole milk since one of his Drs said he needed to regain some weight. And SUCCESS (which I’ll explain in a moment)! I quickly very quickly changed out of my workout clothes into more appropriate for a Dr appointment visit and we were off to see Hubs PCP. He had gained 7 lbs back. Yay! When the Doc came in, I right away FaceTimed our daughter. After about 15 minutes of discussion, I told my daughter that she had the floor. She recently become aware that the hospital system has a multidisciplinary pain clinic. The Doc didn’t know that. He went on the computer as soon as she explained about it and immediately filled out a referral form. So, here’s hoping that Hubs can get an appt sooner than later.
