Stamp pad, pet paws~she’ll love it!
So I washed my red hockey jerseys, and did the sectional sheets as well. I put in a switch in the TV, so I can use all five HDMI items on 4 ports, and renamed them in the menu: TV(over the air), PS2(Red/yellow/white plugs), Firestick(Firestick), Agimus(mini PC), Disk/2600+(Blu-Ray and Atari 2600+ on the switch), Tish(the soundbar that has a French menu). Having the usual Manhattan and Redneck stirfry. Spot has spent the day napping, except when he was interfering with the TV rewiring.
I once had to do a translation between my Mexican born assistant manager(who spoke fluent American English) and an Indian born customer(who spoke fluent British English). thank you BBC.
My previous neighbors were “Greased bowling ball juggler”, “Elephant Mosh Pit”, and “Knocks Boots at 0900 On the Lord’s Day”. But they have to put up the screaming from football, hockey, and F1, so it evens out.
{{{{Hippie and Jim}}}}
Yay!
I think you will do great! I’ve heard horror stories about host families from hell, so you will be alright.
@LSLGuy I’m glad that you are having better communication.
@peedin That’s wonderful!
I sent an email yesterday to the consultant telling him to put everything on hold. (Which is the Japanese way of saying that very bad news in on the way.) I used the earthquake issue as an excuse.
True to form, he called SenWife to discuss it we really wanted him to stop the project or perhaps we could just increase the scale by having him handle the earthquake measures.
I hear from a lot of women how they get ignored when buying cars, computers or other “manly” things and I totally get it.
The stupid thing was after I sent the email last week, he had the weekend to reconsider his approach to the project (even if he couldn’t change his mental blinders to me) but he doubled down.
The whole meeting was about why we needed and why my opinion wasn’t important.
Then after I sent the follow up email yesterday, he could have listened to my concerns.
But, stubborn people got to do stubborn.
I’m not sure if I mentioned this before but SenGirl’s classmate’s father doesn’t have much time left.
They have three girls, the oldest is SenGirl’s age, then the middle is SenBoy’s age and one more two years after that.
Last year they thought he had a few months, then it looked better and now it’s back to just pain management.
I’m really sorry
He sounds like a wonderful friend.
My downstairs neighbor has to put up with clomp clomp teenage boy.
Lightly breaded … battered? I dunno, but they’re popular as all hell.
This made me giggle.
Another bizarre sunset and pink moon. Oh, and yesterday - and I swear on Monkey’s paws I wasn’t smoking - all the smoke detectors in the entire house went off all at once.
All those wildfires in Canada are drifting smoke down into the Midwest. My local air quality has been bad enough the medicos are advising people with medical conditions like cardiac or asthma to be outdoors as little as possible. My grandson’s preschool which is outdoor classroom based has kept the kids inside for several days.
It’s micro particles of the productions of combustion that get into one type of smoke detectors and set them off. hippy could explain it better than me, but that might be happening to you. Can’t blame Canada considering how we’ve been treating them lately.
Good evening all and time for the late-night final. Did take a couple hours of gym work and then coached 19 7-year old boys (with a couple helpers) for 90 minutes before coming home to the usual Tuesday Mac-n-Cheese dinner. Am now resting preparatory to heading off to Slumberland soon. Temperature is down to 72F and I didn’t have to run the AC all day.
And let’s see what everyone else has been up too…
Dicey , have done a few 11+ hour flights in my time, hope this one is trouble-free…and M&M’s are good travelling companions.
Flyboy, I usually have about a 30-minute workout on the treadmill, usually at an average of 3.6mph and a 9/10 degree inclination. Not as fulfilling as your walks are, but it does burn off the calories.
Pilot, glad you and GF got some partner-time in, hope the next 6 months are just as good. And thanks for the tip on the A&W, (you too, Herald). I may pickup a couple 12-packs next time they are on sale.
Very Wise.
Hippie, great story of friendship with a melancholy ending; never forget the good times…
Sensei, the stubborn can be the strongest of all feelings at times, but I do sorrow for SenGirl classmate Dad…going that early is never a good thing.
And it’s 9:30pm and will be heading off to bed here shortly, will read and puzzle-solve for awhile but not too long, I think. Catch y’all tomorrow.
On my way to bed as well, but wanted to let our beloved night nurse @BippityBoppityBoo know that both cats do fit in the basket. Just not at the same time.
I was talking to Mom and heard the familiar sound of wicker creaking so looked and saw this:
Much more creaking happened and he finally managed to achieve his goal.
He thinks it is not nearly as comfy as Jolene made it out to be.
Your cranky night nurse guffawed out loud! Made my 8 year old grand daughter look at me funny and no doubt wonder what was up with her supposedly mature grandmother. “Keep ‘em guessing, that’s my motto!”
The difference in their sizes is incredible yet Jolene seems to call the shots.
Thanks y’all. I was pretty depressed when giving up my shop. But I’m doing ok now. Plus my boss sounds pretty confident that we’re going to get funded for the next year. Unless you know who fucks up the NIH. So I might have a job past the new year.

What brought this out today is that Jim is now in the later stages of Alzheimer’s Disease and is being evaluated for transition into hospice care. I will miss my friend and brother…
So sorry to hear this. I wish the best for Jim and you and all his family.

Considering FCD’s issues with walking, I would really encourage him to volunteer to walk the dogs at the local pet shelter.
My dad does this, it is one of his favorite things. He’s 76 years old, and the getting out with pups is great for him. He’s had some trouble with bike riding (and crashing) but the doggie thing has been great.

I’m really happy that I have a source for Ghiradelli chocolate powder now.
Back in the day…10 years or so ago…I used Hershey’s “Dutch processed cocoa.” Can’t find it anymore. It made fabulous brownies.

My local air quality has been bad enough the medicos are advising people with medical conditions like cardiac or asthma to be outdoors as little as possible.
They’re saying the same here in the southern tier of NY. I couldn’t see across the lake today.

He thinks it is not nearly as comfy as Jolene made it out to be.
If he fits he sits…even if’n he don’t really fits.
Now off to bed with me, I gotta drop the car off early to catch a ride in to work. The damn thing is throwing ABS codes. Fortunately have a co-worker who is willing to pick me up on the way in.
Stay safe y’all!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 86 and cloudy with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted this mornin’. The plan is to procure provisions unless it’s too ick out, then we will do that tomorrow. There will be RDOS inactivities as is our wont. Sup will be leftovers from last night’s sup.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then we shall see whether or not purtification and donnin’ acceptable attire for bein’ amongst the great unwashed is needed.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Greetings from Columbus! Since I had plenty of time to sleep in, of course I was awake at 3:45!
This is day two of in person meetings. We’re at a very nice hotel and taking up the meeting area/ballroom. I had to give up on my hearing aids because the noise was just too much considering that there are about 120 of us in the room.
Yesterday I actually sat next to someone with the same first name as me. She was very nice. And frankly, very talkative which was also nice because I didn’t have to say much. There was a social outing last night, but I opted out. It was more than I could handle after a long day. I also skipped dinner and ordered DoorDash from Donato’s. I’m currently eating my leftovers now.
I wanted to say something else, but I’ve forgotten. Maybe I’ll remember…
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 18c/65f with a predicted high of 21c/70f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Does that one fucking cloud look like a weasel screwing a carrot?” Perhaps, if we were looking at the same clouds!

But seriously, actually having an appetite and acting on it was a big improvement.
I’m really happy to hear that you have had food and you’re feeling better, and you’ve had Monkey snuggles too. Perfect start to my day!

Apparently the upstairs neighbors moved out, because Maintainable is rolling around big bins upstairs, and the outdoor carpet has been defenestrated onto my porch.
I hope your new upstairs neighbour doesn’t have big bins to roll about and decides to keep their noise to a minimun. Spot can’t have his snoozes interrupted.

He’s healing, so we’re back to playing several games of fetch in the evening.
Perhaps Nelson was worried about his residency status at the new place and he’s all happy now that he knows he’s officially a resident!

I will miss my friend and brother…
I am sorry for the way such a lovely story has ended, but you have many good memories to treasure there.
Pilot I’m glad you and GF got to spend time together and you’ve had time to talk about your plans.
Sensei I am sorry about the stubborn, and I understand how frustrating it can be. When we went to buy a car, the salesman talked almost exclusively to ‘im indoors despite the fact the first thing we said was that I am the driver, and he’s not. Also sorry for SenGirl and her classmate, it will be tough all round but classmate is lucky to have SenGirl as a friend to lean on.

He thinks it is not nearly as comfy as Jolene made it out to be.
He is quite right Has he asked yet if it makes his bum look big?

I was pretty depressed when giving up my shop. But I’m doing ok now
I’m happy to hear it, giving up your shop was a big deal for you but you’ve found somewhere you’re appreciated and valued. I hope they can get funding for next year so that they can continue to value you properly.

This is day two of in person meetings. We’re at a very nice hotel and taking up the meeting area/ballroom.
Sounds like day 1 went well, even if it was a bit too much at the end. I would have opted out of the social thing too, but mainly because I am not that sociable with work folks. I like to keep my work and social life separate
Yesterday ended as anticipated - logged off from work, made three lots each of breakfast and lunch stuff for campus, then chopped up a pineapple and half a watermelon to split into three portions also for campus snackage. I fed the cats, then had a cup of tea on the sofa with Blossom as she came to demand fusses. Made dinner (salmon and salad) and watched two episodes of the new season of Mayfair Witches before it was time to give the cats their bedtime treats.
I was up early, showered and hair washed (and dried, ‘cos I’m all civilised like that), cats fed, litter trays cleaned, and still had time for a cuppa before heading to work. The trains were playing nicely today, the first one was only a couple of minutes late but not late enough that I missed the second one. Team manager is off sick again today so apparently I am in charge Pub tonight with my friends although after a week of far too much German beer, I think it might be soda for me tonight!
Thank you all for your kind words,
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Vacation day Four. It’s raining, and 70 degrees Ferret Height(21 Centipedes).

He thinks it is not nearly as comfy as Jolene made it out to be.
As long as Jolene got out first…

“Does that one fucking cloud look like a weasel screwing a carrot?” Perhaps, if we were looking at the same clouds!
You’ve done enough ferret sitting, you might know.
{{{Hippie}}}

I’m one of those people who change their sheets three or four times a week
A week??? I don’t change mine 3 or 4 times a month unless it’s been hot and sweaty, which rarely happens with a/c. I will change them once they become sentient… OK, maybe I exaggerate a tad.

if you don’t need to take them it would be one less thing to have to remember.
And one less thing to pay for. Thank goodness for good insurance, or I don’t know what I’d do!

Or foster until you find the fail.
My primary objection to any more pets is that their care always falls on me. I can’t get up in the morning and leave a critter crated. I can’t ignore a pup who wants to go outside and pee or poo. I can’t forget suppertime. But I’m the one who ends up dealing with all this. Plus, there’s always the possibility that my sweetie will either need me to be his carer, or even worse, he’ll predecease me, and in both cases, a pet will be one more thing to deal with. Even now, Ziva has become more of a burden than I want, but I’ll care for her till the end. I know that sounds cold, but much as I like dogs and cats, I don’t want any more.

True to form, he called SenWife
I know nothing about the culture, but can’t she tell him that you’re the one dealing with the project, then refuse to talk to him about it?

He thinks it is not nearly as comfy as Jolene made it out to be.

When we went to buy a car, the salesman talked almost exclusively to ‘im indoors despite the fact the first thing we said was that I am the driver,
Some years back when I needed new wheels, we happened to get a salesguy who was not only obnoxiously annoying of personality, but he’d talk to FCD about safety and performance features and tell me about colors and vanity mirrors. Needless to say, he didn’t make a sale. Even if I’d loved the car, he wouldn’t have made a sale.
I’m so glad I looked at my texts this morning - I did learn the lesson yesterday. For whatever stoopit reason, they booked me with Dr. Shah the cardiologist, not Dr. Shah the neurologist. So I texted back a cancel (no big worries since I was double booked with her anyway) and as soon as the office opens, I’ll call the correct Dr. Shah’s people to reschedule.
This county is full of Dr. Shah’s, all from India, many related, primarily due to 4 Dr. Shah brothers who came here some years ago. Being rural, it was an underserved area, and over the years, the Shahs have come and brought their friends. And they all work under the Medstar umbrella. In fact, my cardiologist is Dr. A.K. Shah, not Dr. M. Shah. Anyway, I did confirm the appointment via email last night because I’d made the foolish assumption that I was booked with the correct doctor.
So, how’s your day starting?? I’ll be heading to Food Lion shortly. I was going to stop at WalMart on the way back from my appointment, but that won’t happen today. We’ll see what happens when I reschedule.
Anyway, Happy Wednesday!
We change our bed linen every Sunday.
On the iron question, we have seven:
I have two small irons. One is in the travel case for my sewing machine and the other is part of my regular sewing area.
Sunflower has four. One small one in her travel case, one small one on her sewing table, one small one on her cutting table and a full sized one she uses when pressing clothing.
Our daughter has a full sized iron and an ironing board in her basement apartment

I know nothing about the culture, but can’t she tell him that you’re the one dealing with the
First, although he dialed SenWife, I answered and talked to him to give the news.
The problem with simply asking is that the behavior is likely unconscious and just not changed easily.
If that were the only thing I didn’t like, I’d let it go, but he’s just stubborn in general and doesn’t have the flexibility to deal with me.
jtc, jolene and gg in the basket… beyond adorable.
lh75, i’m sorry to hear of jim’s diagnosis. he has a very difficult path to walk.
my readcation went well. i ended up reading 2 books. i had planned on one, but finished around 5, so i pulled a book out of the physical book pile. i had a lovely breakfast out, and a pint of ben and jerry’s later. lager and koritza enjoyed chair and couch time.
back in the office today. the building is having treats this afternoon.
Back from a small grocery run. The new car wash in Leonardtown is open - but it’s raining just a bit today - that doesn’t bode well for opening day business. Still, it’s nice to have one close and convenient, assuming it isn’t stoopit expensive. Must check their website.
I’ve got a new appt with my neurologist - in 3 weeks - provided she doesn’t cancel again. We shall see, shan’t we?
FCD is helping SIL with a plumbing issue. I’m hoping he’ll just instruct rather than crawl under the sink himself. SIL needs to learn this stuff - his dad was abusive and obviously didn’t teach his sons stuff like this. So FCD has stepped in. SIL has learned a good bit, but it’s a long road. I await his return.
Daughter has asked me to wrangle the grands on Tues evening. She’s got Dragon Boat practice. I’ve got some freebies coming from Domino’s, so I’ll feed them. Hoping she’ll just be an hour or so.
And since it’s raining, I guess I need to find something to do inside. Or not.
