(Old) Alexa, start the MMP

I can understand that. Don’t suppose it’s appealing to go to your library early in the week and copy that page out of the NYT? That would cost me about 20 or 30 cents. I’m at the library at least once a week any way. In the hinterlands where I am, the Sunday NYT, if you can get it at all, costs $6-8.

I do do the mini-crossword and Connections puzzle every day in my digital NYT, just as brain tai chi.

And my :christmas_tree: is still up too and will be for an undeterminable length of time. I like twinkly lights. The kitten likes posing fetching alongside the twinkly lights in the big picture window. Who am I to deny her admiring passersby and/or dog walkers?

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, so I’m going to break my Sunday jammies-only tradition and go for a walk. I accidentally caught a headline about what’s happening in Chicago, and it really upset me, so I’m in need of a calming walk. It’s also plant-watering day. Hey, THEY think it’s exciting.

Happy Anniversary to Mr. and Ms. Tater!

This surprises me. The attitude I’ve had over the past 10 years is, “Hey, you don’t have anyone to help you out? Not our problem. Find someone or we don’t operate.” Nobody’s ever kept me in longer because I’m single. (And when I was married, I was basically single in regard to post-op care.)

I remembered her without looking her up. :musical_note:All that’s left is a band of gold. So cool you get to see her!

I think MetalMouse got it right, and I heard it on The Three Stooges. My brother was a fan. The physical comedy made sensitive little me sick, so I didn’t watch them as much. Yep, I was a wuss.

Oh, I’m hep to the jive. (What? Don’t the cool cats still say that?) I think it started on reddit. Some of the subs for teens don’t allow the words “suicide,” “Murder,” etc…

I had a student who legit sneezed by saying in a little high voice, “Ah-choo.” Then she got ticked off when people laughed because they thought she was joking. (She really wasn’t. I talked to her dad, a colleague of mine.)

I loved : “Struck by sea lion, subsequent encounter.”:rofl: Because that was one pissed-off sea lion, and the more he thought about it, the angrier he got, so he returned to get in a few more licks.

You can print the crossword with a subscription, and some libraries give you access online with a library card, so that should also let you print it out. I like to do it online because I can check to see if the answer is correct (without getting told what the answer is).

I do, too. I wrapped fairly lights around my headboard.

Happy anniversary!

Lovely work!

Too dry, from an agricultural and wildfire abatement perspective.

When I lived in Israel, you could get basar lavan (“white meat” as an option at one Chinese place I knew about in Jerusalem.

Hmmm. I’m making potato soup for supper.

Can you hunt up the ICD code for “stapled my fingernail at a pizza joint”?

snerk

Tsundoku truly is a thing!

I got rid of a lot of books before we moved but refused to dispose of them all despite being like you and always reading on my kindle nowadays. Kindles are pretty reliable, but it’s important to have some back-up for emergencies.

Of course, patterns are the exception to that. I am constantly going through that bin.

I haven’t turned or flipped a mattress since I left home. Every six months I wipe the top and sides down with conditioner and pour a bottle of alge killing stuff into the water. Washing the thermal mattress topper is much more of a pain because it is so thick.

I cried for months before I turned thirty and then when I did finally hit that dreaded age, I figured out that I liked it. It was very strange, and was probably the hormones.

I’m glad she asked and you delivered. Those are all very nice, I’ll bet they will make their recipients very happy.

That’s a long time to go without killing each other, congrats!

We’re pretty low-key about our anniversary as well. I’m pretty sure we went out for dinner last year but I sure don’t remember.

They were SO exciting, I wanted to grow up and live in one like I imagined the library ladies did.

Give her some rubs for me, I just adore horse ears.

I am a dismal failure when it comes to crossword puzzles, but I love doing logic puzzles. On paper. There are tons of free puzzles online and if I’ve finished one book and haven’t gotten another one, I will print them and do them on paper instead of using the comp.

Brains are weird.

That’s where I was yesterday. Now my sinuses hurt. I’ll bet it’s mold related. The forest floor is covered with layers of wet leaves which is a perfect mold breeding ground. Now that the snow is melting, the mold spores are exposed and floating around on the breeze.

So, while I know that neither of us will ever have the money for something like this **SNIK WARNING!!!**, isn’t it something worth drooling over?

She’s still glued to him, this was the longest she’d been left alone since we got her.

It’s kinda odd, Hubs has always been noisy and I’m used to his background noise. Now that he’s not huffing and puffing and grunting all the time, it is really quiet. I think I liked the noise better, it was easier to track what he was doing around the house. Happily Diablo 4 just started a new season so he’s been busy saving Sanctuary from the forces of evil.

That’s the part I was talking about. People have to have someone pick them up after sedation. If not, the hospital isn’t just going to kick them out after emergency surgery, they will keep them until they can find transport or are sure they are safe to drive themselves. If they don’t have someone, they will often be denied non-ER surgery. In my experience, which has only been AZ and WV. I haven’t been involved in any of mom’s medical stuff so I don’t know how it is in ID.

So all has been quiet here. I downloaded the D4 updates and managed to give myself vertigo by looking down the cliffs. The designers really did a nice job, the perspective is wonderful and they finally got the shadows right.

Its currently 44F and the snow is almost gone. Now that the birds can find their usual food, the traffic in front of the french doors has really slowed down. Hubs wants to go and pet dogs so we will be heading out in half an hour or so. I’m kinda waiting for our ex-housekeeper to stop by, I promised her some blankets and she wanted to come by and get them.

Yep. I think I’m nearly to a TBR bookcase by now. Thrift store shopping can do that to me.

And let’s not even talk about the e-books awaiting my attention.

It’s the same everywhere I’m aware of, Nebraska, Iowa, Massachusetts. Some place it isn’t good enough that you have a driver home, but that driver has to be in their building before they will start the surgery or procedure. At least I can go to my cataract surgery via Lyft or Uber and only need to bother a friend to pick me up when summoned a couple hours later.

As a nurse I understand why they insist on that but is sure is bothersome when you live alone and the older you are the fewer friends you have you can ask who still drive.

Death in paradise is one of my favourites. Who is the detective inspector you are watching?

Yesterday I started “Astrid” it is French with English subtitles. I’m really enjoying it. French is not a language I enjoy, the characters and cases are rather good so far.

And thunk pat her neck for me and finish it off with some long smooth neck strokes (if that is ok with her of course). I love me warm, sleek horse necks.

Me, too!!

I found all-red ones for my bedroom (since red light doesn’t interfere with night vision) and a looooong-ass string of multicolored rainbow ones are haphazardly, well, strung all across my living room & then bunched up in the window blinds so I see them when I’m coming home (if I remember to leave them on).

Still can’t believe I did that.

But … but … that velvety muzzle.

Propped myself in an almost-sitting position (for sinus drainage) with Monkey at my side, and managed to conk back out.

I feel slightly better (sleep is MAGICAL!!) but I’m still pretty iffy on this whole “being awake & going to work” thing.

And it WILL be a short shift for me tonight, dammit.

Yum!

I have two, myself. I noticed some years ago that books were going out of print very quickly, and reasoned that I’d rather buy and store them than not be able to find them when I was ready to read. I have culled out a box or two recently.

A little snipping of dead stalks in the garden; a little moving around of area rugs, a little writing.

Any chance you could print a hard copy?

To avoid being demonetized on YT, IG, etc.

I always liked logic puzzles too. I haven’t done one for a while, but still like them.

I played around in the studio this afternoon after bathing both myself and Nelson (he got the notion to roll on the ground this morning). Sunday dinner (ginger-tomato fish stew) was made and et and now, it’s chill time 'til bed.

I’m up to season 9 - so Jack Mooney. I miss Dwayne, and Humphrey, and Camille… Heck, I miss all of them as they leave. The Commissioner and Katherine are the only ones who have been in all the shows since the beginning.

The potato soup, as usual, was excellent! As is the 'nanner cake. And I’m about to get back to my recliner, watching Washington lose.

FlyBoy, as you can see, THAT is cooking for some of us.
Although it sounds like not a lot of irk or mess, so I will give it a try.

I used to cook all the time, even when it was just me. Now, if it takes more than one step in the microwave, it’s more than I want to do.

Missed the window Shoe
I was out all afternoon. First for the playdate, and then the carwash.

Playdate went well except one of the (I suspect) GR took a dump in her living room. Embarrassing for us, but B/H mom laughs about it. She has many pups over for playdates and accidents happen.
Her husband was home and I was worried how the GR would react when he came out of the bedroom as they have never met him. They were good. Rayleigh was a little cautious, but both were friendly.

The Philly game was insane from the start. I went down to the community room at half time. That was one game you did not dare to look away. Just crazy.

Now there are all sorts of road closures. There are hot spots around the city where people will gather. Thankfully this time they are not near us.

Ariel received ear rubs, nose boobps, muzzle kisses, and neck strokes from all of you. She says thank you.

I called Barnes & Noble and asked if they carried the Sunday New York Times. Oh yes, we have that I was told. So I drove over there and found out that they do not carry it. So I bought a Dell variety puzzles book. I used to do exclusively logic puzzles but now I like having a choice. The public library branch is literally on my way to the barn and is a mile from my house. I need to go pick up a book tomorrow so I will see if they have the New York Times in hard copy In order to print from the NYT website you have to have a separate subscription to the puzzles, I think that stinks.

I love Variety Puzzles!
I am quite an expert at Cryptograms, imho.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then got a McN.O.L. which we brought home and et. Nappage and day drinkin’ were also accomplished. The biiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. A scheduled Chalice bearer and a Lector texted me to say they were sick with fevers and scratchy throats, so I scrambled to find replacements. Baby Priest (seriously he was born in 1993!) had to deal with a sick wife and three year old so he got to the church house about three minutes before the start of the service and had to vest, so we started a few minutes late. However, the floor did not open up and swallow us up so it was all good. It does cause Vergers to panic 🫨 and mumble “And all shall be well, and all shall be well. All manner of things shall be well.”

Sticky_Buns I am intrigued about bacon in beastloaf and must have more details. I use mild snausage along with ground beast.

MOOOOOOM I have been known to ask folk who ask me what I consider to be very personal questions if they were doin’ research for the biography of me they were plannin’ to write. The blankets look oh so cozy! One of the certainties of gettin’ older is sometimes various parts of the body decide to hurt for a while then stop to let other parts have a turn.

Taters Happy Anniversary!

red Nelson has trained the drive thru folk and you well.

MetalMouse I have watched four and five year old soccer. It’s basically stand around, then run around and occasionally noticin’ there’s a ball they’re supposed to kick.

WetOne does Prednisone make you snarly? It’s done the trick when I’ve had to take it, but I am not fit to be in the company of anyone whilst I do.

sari I am a mow and go guy myself. The goal is to not be the worst yahd in da hood. Second worst is all good, however. Hope the doggy playdate happened. I see it went well. Dawg poop happens.

Oopsie enjoy the concert. You’re the same age as my oldest niece. Whippersnapper!

Nellie and Flyboy I think the lesson here is never PO a sea lion.

JtC I do online logic problems everyday.

To give you an idea of the weirdness level of conversations in my household :), @Bob_Blaylock insists that his Jeep has a mind of its own and when he went near a piece of rough road today, the Jeep supposedly refused to let him not travel that piece of road. This is not unusual. I’ve taken to calling it Christine, which he seems to not really appreciate. Any other suggestions for names for the vehicle with a mind of its own that makes its owner follow its wishes?

After reading a bit of today’s news, we headed to Fred Meyer to stock up on coffee because my lovely wife cannot do without. We also bought a 5x7’ area rug to go under our dining table because her footsies are cold in the morning. It looks pretty good.

Start calling it Jeeves and put it in it’s place lol!

(Jeeves - manservant/butler)
