(Old) Another English Autumnal MMP

you have no clue…my aunts talent it putting 20 pounds in a 10 pound box …

my uncle who worked nights always wondered this …i mean traffic jams it 11:30 am? although h I can remember when this place was small enough that there was only 4 streets that had any traffic at all …

One whooooop!! for the early squish and ten more whoooooops for just a cyst result.

Please tell her a weird internet stranger is holding her in the light from afar. I can’t even imagine what that is like. I lost all meaningful vision in one eye (macular scarring) suddenly but I didn’t have to deal with any pain or subsequent surgery. 40 some years later I’m well used to it and that adjustment happened pretty fast as I remember. I lived in Boston without a car at the time so didn’t have to figure out driving without depth perception, etc.

All the above goes double for me. Except my trees haven’t stated blushing yet. No cool nights yet, but then I’m farther south than you or shoe.

My last 3 cars have been totaled parked on the street in front of my house, without me being in them. Twice hit and run in the middle of the night. It’s not like I have anywhere else to park, so ‘shrug’. I just keep paying that insurance premium every month. Another ‘shrug’.

I think it is because a house can’t get up and drive away, never to be seen or paid for again (or stolen or totaled before being paid off) while a car can be and the loaner wants to be able to be paid off by somebody no matter what.

Great idea! I’m going for RDOSS for RDOSSociety. Next we’ll need a spiffy logo~perhaps @missred could get on that.

I’ve been both and I can’t recommend the first. It was the more than 35 years in between the orphaning and adopting that I most definitely do not recommend.

I second this notion.

Hurray!

:fingers crossed:

I’m not sure what I’ve even done today. Did you ever have one of those days? I had to drive MusicMan to get his rental car, my mom to the eye doctor, and I don’t know, but then I had a very long nap. Now I’m up and just sitting here. I’m supposed to take Tylenol now instead of Aleve and it’s not really helping at all with my knee. So sitting seems to be the best option. Still no info on the gel injections yet, but I did check in with the insurance today just in case.

Ok, back to nothinging again.

Blivet: Ten pounds of shit in a five-pound bag.

I just logged off.

Oh, I might not be able to make the moves anymore, but I’m sure I could describe them in full detail

I’m glad that happened

So, just for funsies I had to take a pee test today. I’m not sure why the state of WV requires it and the tech wasn’t sure either. We are guessing that if it had come up positive for fentanyl I would have failed, but whatever.

It’s done and the application has been filed.

We had to pay to overnight a notarized signature to close on this place. That cost a few more pennies than I wanted to spend to send a piece of paper to someone who was going to scan and then shred it.

Hurray for a cyst!!! So much better than what it could have been.

I’m so sorry for your SIL, this is going to be a huge adjustment. However, back when I worked in the private sector, one of my bosses was a Nurse Practitioner who not only had an eye removed, she had four different colored eyeballs she would swap according to her mood.

She was able to drive, give shots and stitch up cuts. She wasn’t limited by her tunnel vision and your SIL will adjust as well.

I always have cultured buttermilk for cooking and cheese making, I only taste it when I’m checking to be sure that the new batch is finished.

Oh, I just love it when other people get involved when I’m doing something complicated. It’s even better when its family and I can’t just kill them all and get it done!

I also did better when I had TC friend to nag me into getting up off my ass so I totally do get that.

I don’t have facebook, but hubs does and I think he spends more time in jail then he does actually posting. He gets so upset when they lock him up for reposting something he got on FB.

This is true. When the toilet started leaking in our last place, we only had to replace the laminate in the WC instead of the entire bathroom.

I was hoping that the blue link would be noticeable :frowning:

The winters are long and dark back here, cryptids are a fun diversion.

Yeah, I’d be making frowny faces too. Dang about the cost of the cord!

Howdy Y’all! I did motivate and complete mowage. Go Me! I followed that up with a beer, a shower, apple pie for N.O.L. (just cause I could) and nappage. We did that most sacred of all RDOS inactivities, day drinkin’, then sup got fixed and et. Thus has it been in swampland this Moanday. I feel the need for Netflix, chill, and popcorn.

pjd you need a mumper nickname. Perhaps bloke cause of your title? I am sure we’ll figure it al out. I ditched carpet when da cave got a remodel back in 2018/19. However, if you like carpet, I say to each his/her own.

shoe sorry about the sleepless night. May you have a good sleep tonight.

Dicey glad y’all made it home safe and sound. I guess by now you really are home and dealin’ with reality again.

JtC hope all that adultin’ is as painless as possible. At least you got to put off the grownup calls. Maybe the Grafton Monster was lookin’ out for you.

MOOOOOOM I am all for a dreary stay inside and dry day. I think leavin’ cranky FCD with his mom while you escape is a good plan. Our guess for any new buildin’ is strip club. It never is, but one day it will be and we’ll be right! Radio DJs need to shut up and yakathons seem a waste of time cause I can’t believe anyone actually listens to 'em. Matter of fact, they can all get off’n my lawn! Apparently they can get off’n Cookie’s lawn as well.

Boo_Fae yay for a practice RDOS day!

doggio yay for OT and cheap gin. There could be a really good band name in there somewhere. Cheap OT Gin, perhaps.

Oopsie the book of faces called you a fast woman? Report that immediately! It does not meet community standards!

shades I shall forgive your dis of greens cause I am a nice person. Buttermilk is icky for drinkin’ purposes, but oh so nice for cookin’ purposes. Hope you are out of movin’ hell soonest.

nellie a week of medical stuff is never fun. Glad you were able to get the boob squish so quickly. Glad SIL is in less pain and hope she adjusts to it all soonest. Sorry about daughter’s vehicle but good for you for bein’ able to be mom to the rescue. The tree huggin’ fest sounds like fun. We thought rumaki was an extra special horse ovary back in the day.

FlyBoy if you want to vaccinate your chimney, who am I to judge?

When we had our west coast not-wedding celebration, my father-out-law made rumaki. We froze the leftovers and later sauteed it with broccoli, → “rumaccoli.”

The fur seems to be growing back faster on her belly than it is on the arm Buddy had to have shaved a couple of months ago when we tried a blood transfusion to deal with his anemia (didn’t help).

I keep powdered buttermilk on hand for cooking needs. Works fine, less waste than having the liquid version neither of us cares for as a beverage on hand.

It was and that was the reference I was using. And I peeked at the pic, things are looking good.

Whopper with cheese took longer to order and get than it took to consume, so belly is full and will head over to the gym in about an hour.

FCM, glad (I guess) that the problem has been solved, but that much for a cord…

shoe, sometimes your body just orders you to sleep. And stores are often busy at that hour, Mom has dropped precious off at school and ‘oh, I need to pick up some things while I’m out’ and the store is on the way home…

OK, some more internettin’ and then get my gym stuff together. Might make this a walking exercise, see how my ankles and calves hold up for 20-30 minutes at 3mph.

I’m gonna steal that! FCD always guesses “Perkins” because he loves their N.O.T. pancakes and the two that were in this county closed decades ago. Ever hopeful, he is!

Never knew this existed, but now I must find some!

Bear in mind, along with carrying all that current, it has to be capable of operation outside in all weather, not to mention the none-too-rare occurrences of hanging in the water. The wires within are heavy-duty, as is all the insulation and the entire jacket. Have you seen the price of copper lately?? So, yeah, $$$$$

I had my rather, um, unique video chat with the grands. Short and sweet. Now back to crocheting.

Jolene’s leg shave is still shorter than her belly shave. The neck shave for the blood work for the test has fully grown out in 6 weeks. Kitty fur seems to be just as strange as the rest of them!

I think I probably use more cultured buttermilk (which powdered is not) than many folks because those lovely mesophilic bacteria are so useful in cheese making.

If they ever come out with self-cleaning carpet, I’ll have the bedroom done post-haste!

We are all agreed that Jolene is doing very well. I can tell that her scar is sore to the touch so we don’t touch it. Every so often, GG will hit it while they are rolling around on the floor and she will yell at him and go into her Fortress of Solitude (the blanket covered loveseat that they both can easily access from the un-blanket covered end. The same loveseat that GG naps under because her fluffy bed is there) for a few minutes. GG knows he done fucked up when that happens so he just turns into a puddle on the floor until she comes back out.

Welcome home!

Same here, but I had to cut the AC back on in the middle of the night to take care of the humidity.

Yay for just a cyst nellie!

Irked, came home and did the usual Monday evening stuff. Such excitement!

Stay safe and healhy y’all!

Whilst wearing your best ball gown, I gather? :joy:

I’m one of the weird 1% who loves to drink buttermilk. I seldom see it sold in anything but quarts, so there’s always plenty for me to drink after I’ve made biscuits or pancakes.

Tomorrow is a special day so we’re going to Eataly for a pizza lunch. If we have room for dessert, we’ll have their killer tiramisu as well.

We won’t get a dishwasher delivered until Thursday, so I’m handwashing a lot of dishes until then. I’m also making full use of paper plates since we have a buttload of them that have been kicking around for years.

I napped. There was a hella rainstorm. Now I’m watching bad handegg on MNF with a good Old Fashioned.

I had a pic of a "No Parking " sign in a bush that only showed the “No” deleted for “Community Standards”, so I feel you.

He kept leaning against my larynx while I was napping, and then got offended when I pushed him away when I started seeing Jesus.
And {{{{SiL}}}}

WHOOP! WHOOP!

Sinatra Tribute Band(Although Frank was more into Jack).

We can get pints in N.C. Perfect for marinating some chicken thighs.

That MUST have been scary! Please let us know when you get the path report back. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed until then.

Maybe you were vaccinating it against soot?

I walked to the falls and checked the salmon run, but none of them were running, just swimming. En route, I came across several squads of teen track team runners. I stepped onto the grass to let them pass, and they all called out, “Thank you!” and “Have a great day!” This is why I get frustrated with people complaining teens are rude and entitled.

Thanks for the kind wishes for my sis-in-law. I should’ve mentioned that she’s had zero vision in that eye for months, now. The adjustment is really more about her fears of looking odd and grossing people out. (The eye is closed.)

shoe, not surprised about the long nap, as you were cruisin’ for a snoozin’. Hopefully the sand man will show up on time tonight.

sticky, that buttermilk was too cute!

I am, too! It’s creamy, tangy, and just plain yum.

JtC, I didn’t think the scar looked at all oogey. She’s healing well! Oh, you asked last week about any recent idiocies of my daughter’s nebelung. None lately, but my daughter was proud to announce that after only 4 years of training, he now sits on command, but only if you show him you have a treat. Mercenary little bastardo.

Boo, I’m so sorry to learn of your vision woes. As usual, you’re a trouper about it.

And a good evening all. Worked off a fair amount of the Double Whopper tonight at the gym and am just thinking about heading off to bed and do some reading (Have almost the entire Sunday NY Times to amuse me) before nodding off. Temperature is down to 69F so should be a good sleeping night.

Never have drank buttermilk straight, to the best of my knowledge; do love them buttermilk pancakes, however.

lucky, had never heard of Eataly so looked it up and read the Wikipedia ad, sounds like an interesting place but the nearest one is 600 miles away, so until they open one in say, Atlanta, I’ll just have to imitate Pavlov’s dogs…

nellie, is Sis-in-law planning for a glass eye (or whatever they are made from these days)?

And it’s nearly10pm so I think I need to finish up and prepare for bed. Catch y’all tomorrow.

I feel like I’ve missed a picture of Jolene and I just can’t bear that. Where should I look or can someone put it in a PM to me. I needs me some kitty pics.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 84 and partly N.O.S. The big items on today’s agenda are laundry (be still my heart) and I need to take care of a few errands this mornin’ that won’t take long but alas must be done. I shall also be a bit bzzy with sup prep as I am goin’ to make cornbread dressin’ which is a little bit of irk to make up, but worth it. Sup shall be that along with a roasted chikin, collard greens, field peas with snaps, and squishes. Also giblet gravy and schwump cranberry sauce. It’s sorta like a pre-Turkey Day sup but with chikin. I shall, never fear, also have time for RDOS inactivities.

nellie daughter’s cat is brilliant! “OK, I’ll sit, but first you gotta show me the money.”

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, I suppose I will need to make myself presentable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Oh woe and bother!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Mornin’, everyone.

It’s 45F and clear outside. The morning clear and sunny skies will give way to clouds and eventual rain this afternoon, with a high temperature of 73F. It was 39F when I left the house yesterday morning, so of course, the air pressure in my tires appeared low. By afternoon, air pressure was back up; however, the two front tires were still a little low. I’ll inflate them later today.

Nellie, yay for good medical news and a more timely boob squishing.

Lily, I hope you receive good pathology results.

FCM, that’s one expensive cord, but I get it.

JtC, In last week’s MMP, you asked how I fed the corvids. I had a low tray feeder with a little roof. I put out only enough peanuts to be consumed or removed in an hour. The squirrels were happy to help the Stellars Jays and the crows with this chore, and both the crows and the Jays would line up on the fence right around 9:00 a.m. every morning and alert me that it was time to put out peanuts.

I was busy yesterday, but I admit to not working as hard as usual. It was the last day of the fiscal year, and I’m just burned out. I took care of anything that came across my email immediately, had a long call with the SD, and other than that, just puttered with this, that, and the other.

The upcoming fiscal year will bring some changes in budgeting and work practices, and I already know there are some I will not like. The Good Idea Fairy has dropped some spectacular crap bombs, and it’s annoying. But, until or unless I find a different job, I will persevere and execute, with probably a lot of muttering under my breath.

I work from home today, and then back to the office tomorrow. Technically, I could stay home and work tomorrow since I put in two days last week, but I’ll go in.

Time for some more coffee.
