(Old) Another English Autumnal MMP

But of course, darlink!

We bought a starter quart of cultured buttermilk when we did our first grocery run and I noticed half gallons and gallons on the shelf. I haven’t seen any smaller containers.

Ya wanna try some really good buttermilk? Culture some cream and make butter. Drink the whey. That is super good stuff.

I’d order the tiramisu first and see if I have room for pizza, buts just me.

But that could be the fun part. She could get a pirate eye patch and Arrrrrrr at everyone! (Honestly, I’m sure that she turned invisible years ago, that’s just what happens when women age.)

What a smart kitty! He’s finally learned how to train his slave!

I didn’t either, but didn’t want to take the chance of squicking anyone out.

I read forward and saw that you also agree that it looks like Jolene is healing up nicely. I think that part of it is her comfy sleeping accommodations.

Thank you, I have a good spot for one. Did you use shelled or unshelled peanuts? I’d be happy if the squirrels would come across the gully for a visit, but there aren’t enough trees here for them to feel safe :frowning:

Oh, man, I used to hate that bitch!

I like going to yard sales and often find half skeins or balls of yarn for very little bits of money. Would you like me to start gathering it up to send your way once in a while?

Not only do we get entertainment about your neighbor’s antics, we get educated too!!!

Well, dang. It certainly has been a dreary day which certainly can’t be helping your idonwannas. I hope it’s just a blah day and not something that’s going to linger.

Welcome Sparkles! :fireworks:

That’s very sweet of you to offer, but I expect it’d cost more to mail it than the yarn is worth. It’s one of those things that doesn’t make sense to me.

MIL was talking to FIL in her sleep - that’s just a tad creepy to me. I know your brain can go strange places when you sleep and it doesn’t have to make sense. Still, it’s creepy…

The sun has come out!! There’s a slight chance of more rain tonight, then nothing till Moanday. Blue skies will be nice for a change. Maybe I’ll get outside and futz in the yard for a bit.

Time to figure out something for supper. If not for MIL, FCD and I would probably go out. Instead, I’ll figure something out…

I found out early on that all those great AARP discounts were just as easily available for the asking individually at the business and then I could bypass the absolute avalanche of AARP mailings clogging up my mailbox. You won’t miss out on anything without an AARP membership.

Absolutely true to both of the above. [for some reason inscrutable to me as usual, discourse wouldn’t let me quote those two together]

If it hadn’t been for finding da Dope and Mumperland when I did, I’m not sure I would have survived the single person living alone social isolation (and fear) during the Covid years. It’s all you Mumpers’ faults! So there!

Whew indeed! I sweated that one too.

I’m sure that soft soft soft heating pad she’s using is really helping along all that good healing.

Hard to say who is enjoying that more~GG or Jolene.

Old nurses can go on and on about healing incisions, in nauseating details about drainage and crusting and secretions-best to not get me started. Hers does really look good though. Chez Floozy has strong healing karma!

Thanks !
I think the fireworks are a step too far … I’m happy enough with
punctuation, but punctuation AND emoji ?! It would go to my head and i would
get ideas above my station. Nobody wants to see that !

Celebrities are dropping like… celebrities.

Maggie Smith
Kris Kristofferson
Pete Rose
Frank Fritz
Ken Page
John Amos

I think I heard of one or two more. But six in four days is a lot.

Honey, we ALL have ideas above our station in the MMP–not that our stations are so teddibly, teddibly upper crust, mind you. It’s just our ideas.

There was a basketball player whose name meant nothing to me but David Muir talked about him.

I don’t think it was mentioned here*, but recently Herbie Flowers died (9/5/24).
If you’ve never heard of him, you’ve almost certainly heard him… he
played the famous bass line in Lou Reed’s Walk on the Wild Side.

*Just checked. and he was. I must go and reply.

Probably Dikembe Mutombo.

Well, I have an appointment Firday morning for an oil change and also to get new tires installed. Getting fairly cheap ($133 each) ones, as I plan to trade my car in next year so just want to make sure I don’t have a flat before then. Then went to the gym for walking and pedaling and sweating and did all three, now waiting to see if the soccer fields are open for practice, they should be but the Parks folks here can be paranoid about opening the fields (just looked at this moment and they are open!). Once that is done Mac-n-Cheese and slothage are the only plans at this moment.

FCM, glad Ziva has appeared. Good luck with PNC…their website straightened itself out just as I was about to feed my card to the shredder.

Sparkles!, welcome to the MMP officially. Pull up a virtual chair and join in when you can. Hope the rain relents, had 3-4 days of it last week and just drying out now. And "Take a Walk on the Wild Side’ is one of my favorites…amazing it wasn’t completely censored back in 1972…

{{Sticky Buns}}, feel better soon.

cookie, enjoy the apple picking. Any particular type?

nellie, between you and JtC’s cat stories (with honorable mention to Shoe, Nettie, and Doggio), I am constantly entertained. Thank you.

Oopsie, stay comfortable, it’s 80F here which is ‘cool’ compared to the past 3 months.

In the Great Potato Chip (crisps for our English brethren) discussion, I can eat Pringles, Utz, and most any store brand, but only the ‘basic’ salted chips, the flavored ones do nothing for me.

Not an AARP member and have no interest in being one.

JtC, wow but GG is a beast! Best not let him out of the house or the W. Virginians will be making up legends about him next…

OK, after 4pm so need to change into the appropriate Soccer Coach garb and get ready for practice. Take care all.

Charlie used to talk to my MIL in his sleep. Not surprising, they were married for over 60 years. I’m pretty sure that’s normal for yours.

It also vibrates in the subsonic healing range

We were really worried about GG after we lost VBC. He was very depressed and lost over two pounds. He didn’t want to play and didn’t really have any appetite despite us offering so many choices of yummies.

Then Jolene strutted in and claimed him as hers. We tried to do the careful slow introduction but both of them wanted the door open right away. It was love at first sight and they are rarely out of sight of each other.

He’s back to his proper weight and is grooming and playing again. We can tell that he is happy. I think Jolene looks smug, but hubs says she is just smiling because she is such a sweet lil cutie patooty. GG isn’t the only man Jolene has stolen from me!

Humpf. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth overdoing says I.

Ain’t none of us getting any younger.

Today has been filled with the sounds of mowers going. Hubs is a slacker, our grass is growing hourly now that it has had some rain. He says he’ll mow when the place for sale gets mowed, that way our place will be presentable when the realtor takes the new pics. Personally, I like looking at the lawn the way it is…we never had grass before…but I’m fairly sure that if Hubs doesn’t get out there and mow, we will wake up to Harry doing it.

It’s so odd, I don’t see it. I mean, I know he’s a big boy, but he just looks normal to me. Of course, I’ve seen him soaking wet and I am here to say that fluffy cats look MUCH smaller when they are wet.

I don’t think W. Virginny folks need any inspiration to make up legends, it just seems to come natural to them, LOL.

I’m with you about only liking the basic chips. I’ll eat a few BBQ ones once in a while, but it’s a hard pass on anything else.

Howdy Y’all! Laundry got laundered and errands got umm…erranded? I have been a little less slothful than usual due to the makeage and bakeage of cornbread dressin’ and the bakeage of a big chikin. However, I did achieve nappage. We et and excellent, if’n I do say so myself, early sup. There are plenty of leftovers for Thorsday. Tomorrow we shall go to the church house for a Wednesday night sup of tacos. One must never turn down tacos.

BooFae oooh, some bin drama! I wonder if the binfolk ever bet on what they’ll find in your neighbor’s trash.

Nettie glad Buddy had a good appointment.

:sparkler: conga rats on your official mumper name. I used the emoji cause I’m weird like that.

Oopsie I am also not a fan of kettle chips.

MOOOOOOM glad there was no kitty corpse.

nellie maybe he thought the tree would look better on the other side of the room.

JtC Jolene does look content asleep on her GG pillow.

Turns out what I thought was allergies turned out to be Covid. Great…

I’m sure there’s nothing odd about it, but it was still kinda creepy. You see stuff in movies or TV where just before dying, the person sees and speaks to someone “on the other side” - yeah, I know…

FCD got it all canceled - we have no more connection with them. Whew!

Bit of a scare on Roxy’s bus today as it came into Tobias’ school. Apparently one of the older boys showed another a “gun” he had hidden in his backpack. The second boy told the bus driver. When they stopped, the head of the school and another staffer came out (apparently the driver wasn’t very good about handling a bunch of elementary kids.) The gun was a toy, thank goodness, but the school immediately sent out a message to all parents.

I’m guessing a certain boy is banned from the bus, at a minimum. Scary as hell, tho. What’s going on in the world??

FCD didn’t want supper, so MIL and I had a pasta bake that used up the last of some leftover sketty sauce. Dishwasher is loaded and I’m about to plop back in my recliner. Overall a lazy day. I’m turning into such a bum (not the British definition!!!) Off I go.

Are you kidding! That’s what we are here for!

:frowning:

Oopsie, before I started having old and lousy teeth, I loved kettle cooked chips. Now they’re a bit of challenge for me to chew successfully.

JtC I totally LOVE that picture of the two of them together!

I am very frustrated about something right now and I don’t know what to do about it. Especially since I don’t think that there’s anything that can be done. I’m trying to decide if I should give you all the long story here, contact a lawyer - I’ve already tried one who never replied after hearing my long story (not even to tell me that I’m full of shit.), post a thread in GQ or IMHO or just write a blog and send it to my congressperson. Or just let it go because there’s no point in pursuing it. Ugh.

I occasionally channel my granny and make a hillbilly milkshake (cornbread crumbled into an iced tea glass and buttermilk poured over it, eaten properly with an iced tea spoon) with buttermilk leftover from baking.

Discount Tire and Tire Discounters around here have a lane that you pull into. The hose that you drive over sounds a little bell to alert an employee. Unless it’s the first cold snap, it doesn’t take more than five minutes (first cold snap, there may be a line).

What’d you do, buy a Mercury? :d&r:

Feel better soonest rocker.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson, et and began a couple of new cards in the studio. Such excitement!

Happy 100th birthday to Jimmy Carter!

I do has a sad about Kris Kristofferson and Pete Rose though. They both impacted both my childhood and adulthood. As a kid, we used to go to the old Riverfront Stadium and watch the Big Red Machine play and even into adulthood, a guy that I used to date and I would trek to Cincinnati several times a summer and many times Pete Rose would show up on the Jumbotron.

Kris Kristofferson influenced my own songwriting, such that it is, but it also played a lot in the soundrtack of my life.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Benign, which I expected, but still happy news.

@ susan

:tada::partying_face::clap:t3::confetti_ball: hooray!!:tada::clap:t3::partying_face::confetti_ball:

Great to hear!!

Wonderful!
