(Old) Another English Autumnal MMP

Huzzah!

Fingers uncross. Confidently says “I knew it all along!”

Congrats, I know how getting news like the feels.

Thanks, all.

Had a small turnout for soccer practice (3 out of 9 players), so played a couple non-soccer games with soccer balls (bowling, pool, and golf) and we had some fun for 45 minutes. Them home to the usual Tuesday Mac-n-Cheese and a quiet evening so far (following the debate thread is the height of my activity). Temperature is down to 70F so another comfortable night’s sleep. Mowage is planned for tomorrow, we actually had a little sunshine today so should be good to go.

rocky, take care of yourself.

FCM, I can remember having toy guns and carrying them around the neighborhood without any problems, but never on a bus or at school. Suspect his parents will be talked with.

Sticky Buns, it obviously concerns you a lot, whatever you decide to tell us we’ll be listening.

lily, that’s excellent news!

After 9pm, so not much else except to finish internettin’ for the night and do some readin’. Catch y’all on Hump Day.

Up from naptime. Having a Manhattan, Redneck Stirfry, and watching the debate.

Awwww. Also, when I got out of work today, the first song I heard on SirusXM was “Jolene”

Not me. My ideas are totally bottom crust.

All cats are 70% smaller when wet.

I like flavored chips. the 3 best are Utz rippled, Clancy’s(Aldi) and Kroger brand.

WOOOOOOO!

HOORAY!!! :confetti_ball: :raised_hands:

Mauser did both of the things he needed to do. Besides trying to eat crabgrass;

AAAAAAAWWWWWWW I want a huge kitty again…(well until shedding anyways )

LOL FCM she just wanted to be appreciated … like “see I know you missed me”

being in Georgia you’ve never had the infamous jack-in-the-box taco aka the tijuana slider …but they’re good when you’ve had several at the bar when you’re not ehhh…

Switzerland does that for new apartment buildings and it incudes a picture of the finished buildings. In addition it lists all the companies which are working on it, such as the architect, plumber, excavator, mason, and so on.

Failed napping at 14 months and never developed the habit. Parents still haven’t forgiven me.

This is me. Even my trainer said she doesn’t like the gym workout - she’d rather be outside. But she has such a good attitude, I would have never guessed. So I’m trying to change my attitude and to be grateful for the immediate effects of training - more energy, less back pain, etc. Easier said than done.

Whoop!

That’s pretty much ezzactly how Nikki reacted when I brought Monkey home.

Every time he’d be - literally - bouncing off the walls, I’d look over and see her just glaring at me. Not furious, just . . exasperated.

“You. Did. This. You brought this… THING… into our perfectly nice home.”

Oh. My. Gawd.

Naw, man, it’s “sour cream ‘n’ onion” or I’m taking my toys and going home.

Oh, or BBQ.

One of the few things I miss, having moved to where there is no local JITB.

Those tacos are an absolute abomination.

… and yet somehow, also, so freakin’ good.

Handed a pizza out, driver gives it to his passenger. She leans over & hollers up at me, “Hey!!! Who cook this pizza?”

Me: “Uh, my boss? The manager?”

Her: beaming “I can already tell by the smell, it gonna be delicious!”

I love that kind of shit. Hell, Sunday we had someone call & immediately ask for the manager. (Uh-oh!)
S.M. was on that night, took the call, and there was some obvious initial trepidation & then suddenly she grinned & I heard, “Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us, I’ll let the crew know.”
He’d called & asked for the manager, just to tell her - and I quote - it was the best pizza he’d ever had in his life.

Tellin’ y’all, I live for that! There are some job perks that are intangible.

i have a lucky lump story …years ago when I was taking a break from the dope well what started as a bug bite turned into a huge visible lump that was getting painful

I went to the dr and at first, he was ehh no biggie 3 months later he was concerned and almost panicked he missed something and scheduled a whole bunch of stuff thinking it might be some head cancer (of which there are several BTW)

So my aunt looked it over when it started hurting she poked it with a fingernail and said hold still she went and got this syringe and poked it and then it started letting this sticky stinky pus out after a while she didn’t need the syringe and just had me pressing it and we drained it after a couple of hours but then she squeezed hard and she pulled out a splinter from when I bumped my head in the shed …

doc and I was very relieved …

I’m trying out what looks like an abomination…this is supposed to be a “crustless” pizza

there’s a “supreme version” also ill let ya know

Looks like lasagna, minus the noodles, to me …

Up, caffeinated, and shelved. Off to heave.

I say this to myself about Spot every other day. (He managed to hit the recline button on the recliner, and is now trying to kill the chair.)

“Let us make a thing, without the thing that makes it the thing.”

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 86 and N.O.S. Two big items on today’s agenda. First we shall procure provisions this mornin’. Second, we shall head over to the church house around five-thirty to participate in the inaugural Wednesday night supper and other stuff. After supper the kiddies will go do kiddie stuff, the choir will practice, there will be a study thing (not sure what it is exactly) for adults, and there will be Compline. As I mentioned yestiddy, tonight is tacos, so, at the very least we get to eat tacos. Fortunately there is plenty of time for RDOS inactivities in between the two things.

Rocker sorry you have the plague. Hope you feel better soonest.

Lily happy news indeed! Huzzah!

MOOOOOOM glad it was just a toy gun. The schools in these parts insist on clear backpacks just for that reason I imagine.

shades I have eaten Jack-In-The-Box tacos. Been quite a while, but I remember ‘em as bein’, eh, it’s a taco and I wanted a taco. I was in San José, California. I also had N.O.L. at Pebble Beach country club on that same trip. I felt so fancy! Egad, that was a wild bump story!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must needs purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. OK, it’s the Pubic Sto’ which is a little more high class, so most of 'em probably have washed.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Good morning!

I’m currently trying to type this while dodging the sneaky little dog who is simultaneously trying to lick my elbow. Yuck!!!

I’ve got to go get bloodwork done this morning and then this afternoon we’re getting Fiber installed so that I can have lightning speed internet for my job.

I did end up sending a message to another lawyer last night about my issue. In not so many words, I found out long after the fact that the psychiatrist that I had to see about my disability claim decided that knowing me for less than half an hour was enough time to decide that my diagnosis and treatment for a particular mental disorder for the last 20 years by people who had known me for years was incorrect. Therefore, my claim was denied. And, I missed the ‘notification of intent to appeal’ window by two days.

There’s more but I’d just get angrier and more rambunctious if I shared. Maybe later, maybe not.

Ok, I hope everyone has a super duper day!

Excellent news.

I only eat plain or cheese & onion crisps !

But you’re not the one who has to live with it !!

Good morning.

It’s 53F and cloudy at the moment. It’ll remain cloudy throughout the morning, but we’ll have partly cloudy skies and a high temperature of around 64F by afternoon

Lily, yay for good news about the bump.

Sticky, I’m sorry you must deal with all that. It’s just not right.

I’m chiming in on the chips/crisps debate. I mainly prefer Ruffles original. I had a thing for original flavored Pringles for quite some time, but somehow, the texture and taste changed, and they became cardboardy (is such a word). I don’t like Lays because when you open the bag, they smell like a cross between farts and feet to me. I like the lightly salted Popabbles if I’m craving something salty, but I don’t eat a lot of salty/chippy food. As to flavored chips, hard pass. I used to like some of them, but everything tastes oversalted or chemical to me these days, so I tend to avoid those types of foods and stick with fruits and vegetables, nuts, or cheese.

My son is coming to hang out with us and the pups this weekend. Between the surgery, collapsed lungs, crazy deadlines, travel, and other things, he’s had a very stressful month and a half and just wants a chance to decompress. I’m glad he feels like he can do that at my home. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate to take the dogs for a walk somewhere.

Before I talked to my son yesterday, I thought of going mushroom hunting, but now I will have to put it off until the following weekend. I won’t go alone (it’s never a good idea during hunting season), so I’ll need to see if someone can accompany me. I have two people who’ve expressed interest, so we’ll see.

I need to finish my coffee, load the dishwasher, feed the dogs, and start my work day. I hope you all have a peaceful, easy day.

Around here, the high class grocery stores are Giant and Harris Teeter. Which is why I shop at Food Lion and Aldi! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I will go into Teeter when MIL gets a hankerin’ for the Pepperidge Farm Lemon cake that no one else in the county sells. I think I’ve been in Giant maybe half a dozen times in 20 years. I don’t need to pay half again as much for a can of soup just because the store is more foo-foo.

Pfffft - man up and take it! This ain’t the place for sissies - we’re rough and tough and, um, old and wheezy… Yeah, whatevah.

Regarding chips, I’m not a huge fan unless I suddenly need some. I prefer ripple to regular, cheddar cheese or sour cream and onion to plain, I can tolerate BBQ, not at all a fan of salt and vinegar.

Looks like it’ll be another overcast day, temps in low 70s. I guess it’s the tail end of Helene. But Firday should be nice, which is great. Assuming Daughter can work from home, she’ll come here to stay with MIL, and FCD and I will go to the power boat show in Annapolis. Fingers crossed that we get to go. And thank goodness we’re getting freebie tickets from our marina - this year it’s $30 each to get in!! Plus $25 to use the park-n-shuttle!

I did see that I can reserve parking within walking distance of the show for $23.75, so as soon as Daughter confirms, I’ll make a reservation for that. Still, holy crap!!! All that for the honor of of walking around and looking at boats and boat stuff.

Meanwhile, Jessica will be here today to hose down MIL < snerk > and I found another bag of stuffies to give to Hospice - they were at the back of a bottom shelf. So another quiet day around here.

Happy Wednesday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/55f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “The sun will fucking come out tomorrow. Maybe. But, a lot of fucking good that does you today.” Indeed…it’s damp and dismal here today but at least there’s no actual water falling from the sky.

Moooom the bus story is just scary. What was the kid (and/or his parents) thinking?

Lily yay for such good news!

Sticky Buns I am so sorry you have to deal with so much suckage. It is plain wrong, and I wish I could do something to make it right for you.

As for the crisps/chips debate, I like plain (ready salted) which is good because that’s the only one out of the multi-packs that 'im indoors doesn’t like

I have read much but retained little, it’s been one of those days. Not much of any excitement going on here, just busy with irk stuff. I should have been out with friends tonight but they’re both full of germs and lurgy so we’ve binned that idea. Might go to the pub for a curry with 'im indoors tonight, I’ve let him know there’s a chance of that but haven’t heard back yet. It’s a decision to be made when I get home again.

The plumber came yesterday and did a couple of jobs for us so now we have a fully-functioning mixer tap in the kitchen, the boiler’s been pronounced as healthy as it can be, and everything else is fine.

I’ve done a training session for someone this morning, and been to a meeting that could have been an email…got meeting minutes to finish this afternoon, and another set of minutes to write. I need more tea!
