(Old) April Foolin' in the MMP

I’m sure it’s no comfort to know others are crying, too, but I am. I’ve told my daughter many a VBC/George story. She’ll be aggrieved to learn about VBC.

Evening all. Like other Mumpers, I am grieving for VBC and JtC/Hubs loss of a long-time and well-loved companion. Glad she was able to hang in there until you got home where a proper good-bye could be said, I’m glad you’re considering another cat, GG will be a lost soul without VBC’s companionship. The stories told here will not be forgotten in Mumper-land. She was, indeed, a very good cat.

Wheelie, I lived just outside Indianapolis for 4 years, need to get back one of these days to see how it has changed.

wet one, concur with moving your stuff, if everyone else flouts the rules to your detriment, then do what you need to do.

FCM, glad boat is moved. And providing something to take you and FCD’s mind off of MIL for a little while.

nellie, probably a good thing you didn’t shout those words at them, these days it might have led to a police visit.

Oopsie, sounds like a nice day in the back. And I looked at that menu (I always look at menus that are posted here) and jeez, how do they keep all that stuff around for all those different dishes…they must have huge refrigerators.

hippie, you got a great vacation and he got some expert wiring done… win/win in my book. He ever learn to drive the thing well?

red, great news on the imminent return of your car.

Coppertone, were due for similar weather here in N. Ali-bama tomorrow afternoon, and TorCon 7 apparently means “A 70 percent chance of tornado activity within 50 miles of any location in an indicated area.” So be careful!

Got 1 1/4 miles of swimming in, had a good soccer practice with the girls, and am looking at the clock as bedtime beckons. Need to do a couple of soccer things (heck, they can wait for tomorrow morning, nobody is going to read them tonight) but good eating and no gym this weekend got me two pounds heavier than last Monday, so need to buckle down and watch the diet.

It’s still Moonday

but barely.

Every week I say I am going to keep up, and every week I fall behind.

I set my alarm to get up to go to the park, but it was pouring rain.
Echo is mostly better; I think a morning at the park will be helpful. She gets depressed if we don’t go.
Rayleigh is starting to challenge her authority. I don’t know how that is going to work out.
Right now the two of them are cuddled up together.

My son is mostly better. He’s still living on yogurt, jello, applesauce, bagels, and Pedialyte.

I seem to have gotten lucky and didn’t get sick at all.
I slept all day today though, for the third day in a row.

{{{JtC, Hubs, VBC, and GG}}} I am so very sorry.

Hmm, very interesting…The terlet has been doing the slow leak, not quite shut off the float valve thing for a couple of days. I bought the parts to fix, and now it’s behaving. At least I didn’t have to do actual plumbing, just the threat of being replaced cowed the parts into submission.

I had this same thought.

I haven’t been to Indy in a number of years, well the last time was 2010 but I went about 8 times during the aughts (2 or 3 times for swim meets, once for the 2000 National Championship :basketball: and about 4 times for the Big Ten Tourney) and I loved being in downtown Indy, well laid out, clean, safe (even walking around after midnight) and a fun place.

{{{JtC}}} so very sorry; My thoughts are with you.

hippie what a story. Are you and Jack related to Dick Cheney? :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Definitely keep the spare parts on hand just in case. Murphy’s Law is real.

Currently sitting here with a beer, listening to two blokes arguing about phones and gps and stuff. This, from the bloke who ensured me he downloaded a route today, and then had to use my phone to direct us. Becauee one of us has roaming, and one of us doesn’t.

:sob: for vbc

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

{{{{JtC and GG}}}} again

Off to another long, long day at the polls…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 63 Amurrkin out and mostly cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and mostly cloudy for the day. Tomorrow is expected to be rainy, but so for no defcontornado warnin’s for here. Today is laundry day. I can hardly contain myself. We shall also engage in sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’ as is our wont. Sup shall be hamburger steak ‘n gravy, smashed N.O.T. and green beans. Borin’, but also kinda comfort food which I am cravin’.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

{{{JtC}}}
Sorry, couldn’t quite keep up with everyone else.

I start physical therapy this morning. This evening I am supposed to start my volunteer gig, but we’ll see what happens with the weather. Right now I am very blah and wanting to go back to bed if I had the opportunity.

I think I waaaaaay over-caffeinated yesterday - I didn’t fall asleep till after 2, then woke around 4:30 and again around 6:30 when I gave up and got up. But I think my awake-state stemmed from having 2 glasses of Diet Coke at lunch, then a big mug of tea in the afternoon. Usually, I caffeinate right after I wake up and that’s it. I need to stick to that routine.

During one of my awake moments, I listened to rain falling. We should hear a lot of that until the weekend, unless things change, but the weather forecasts are always spot-on, aren’t they? I figure tomorrow will be the worst since MIL wants to go get her hair cut. I may do the same while we’re there. Or not. Dunno.

No real plans today. Yet. We’ll see what develops.

Happy Tuesday!

Mornin’ all.

It’s 45 degrees Fahrenheit and mostly clear outside. The expected high temperature is 66 degrees Fahrenheit, with a mix of clouds and sun throughout the day.

JtC, sending you more hugs and some skritches for GG. I’m glad you got to say good-bye to your sweet VBC, but sad that it had to happen.

FCM, I’m glad the boat has been moved into its proper slip. While repairs are never fun, it’s something to distract from the MiL.

The fence guys will be here sometime between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. I want this all to be done at this point. I’m guessing it’ll be a two-day job. The first day is tear down and removal of the old fence portion we’re replacing, along with putting in the fence posts for both where the portion of the old fence will be torn down and the new section that will have cedar trimmed hog wire panels. I am kicking myself for not replacing this section of fence when I had the rest replaced a few years ago. This is costing me more than the rest of the replacement, which involved many more linear feet. It’s a six-foot modified panel cedar fence (a good neighbor fence and everyone gets a nice side).

This fence is to keep my dogs secure. It’s rotting, nails are sticking out where the fence boards have popped, and it’s leaning in some places, so it’s a safety matter, too.

I’ll be working today, but I will keep an ear out in case the fence guys need to talk to us. If it’s anything like the last time this company was out, we won’t hear a word from them. They tended to show up, do their work, and then melt away. I think they called us out once or twice, but communication was a little tricky because they were either Russian or Ukrainian and didn’t speak or understand English very well.

FCM, I wish I could convince my husband to drink less Diet Coke. I tend to stick to one or two cans a day. He will drink it all day and night and then wonder why he can’t sleep. I tend to get on him a little bit, and he is trying to drink a little more water, but then he reverts to old habits.

I don’t drink that much of it any more just because it seems to contribute to extra stomach acid.

Okay, it’s time to finish my coffee and finish loading the dishwasher so I can run it.

Morning all. Got my 8 hours of sleep in, am now contemplating the rest of the day, according to the weather wizards we are going to get some very strong T-storms starting around 3pm (just in time for schools to let out) with hail, winds, and the chance of Tornadoes. So if I get to the gym it likely will be an early visit. Otherwise time to plan for indoor activities and what to do if the power goes out/tornado siren sounds. In other words, springtime in N. Ali-bama. Weather maps shows it’s going to be stormy over a lot of the area east of the Mississippi River, so stay dry all.

VanGo, I’ve used the ‘blue tablets’ to make sure my toilets are good, so far no leakage detected.

boo fae, but you love him anyway, right?

Herald, happy polling time.

Sticky Buns, hope the PT goes well and the volunteer work is interesting.

FCM, I probably drink way to much Diet soda (at least the number of trips to the bathroom tend to indicate this), but for some reason caffeine doesn’t seem to bother me when I’m ready to sleep.

Taters, I presume you have a wood (6ft. fence) like I do. You may be surprised at how fast the work goes, based on my experiences. Hope that it’s not to disturning.

OK, onward into the day. Have a good one, all.

Second night in a row for kitty barf. Additionally, she peed near the kitchen instead of in her box, which she has developed an aversion to. I’ve ordered a “litter box attractant”, which will hopefully work. We scrubbed it out yesterday, using dish soap rather than something harsh, and filled it with fresh litter. This is not good. I stepped in the pee puddle this morning and was just lucky that I didn’t take a fall. If she can’t be encouraged to use her box again, we’re going to have to consider euthanasia. I think I mentioned before that she also has trouble getting around; we have pet steps for her to use, but her rear legs seem to be getting weaker and it’s likely just a matter of time before she is restricted to the floor. She’s also off her usual wet food, but is still interested in treats. All-in-all, we’re going to have to make a decision at some point, and we will both be piles of mental wreckage for awhile.

Oh, and it’s snowing again.

JtC my heart goes out to you, hubs, and GG. It’s so hard when a pet transitions. You know it’s the right thing to do, but that doesn’t make it any easier.

It’s a heart-wrenching decision, even when you know it’s coming and you know what you have to do. Both our critters are seniors - Higgs is almost 12, which is right in the expected life range of 12-15 years. Ziva will be 16 in June. So even tho they’re doing fine now, it’s always in the back of my mind.

Anyway, back from Food Lion. I think the clerk must be paid by the number of bags she uses. I had 4 bags with a single item in each, one with 2 items, and one with 4 yogurts and a bag of frozen peas. I need to bag up the bags for recycling. What I really need to do is take my own bags.

I also stopped in the Credit Union and got my replacement debit card. I thought they’d have to order it, but no - they created it right there, and once I got home, I activated it and assigned a PIN. I don’t use it a lot - it’s mainly for getting cash from the machine. It’s good to have one again.

Oh, and we got the bill from the septic pump-out - $375!!! Three years ago, it was around $200. I’m thinking in 3 years when the next pumpout is due, I need to call around. Sheesh. On the plus side, I got a $10 refund from the eye doctor. Now if I could just get my glasses - they say I should get them on Firday. To be continued…

The regular Smalls heaving, then I had to finish loading on 200 Top Blue. I did my Aldi run after work. Spot has had his dry, flavorless bits, and I had a Eggs Benedict-ish mcmuffin. I just wish I had a hubcap to serve it on, because there’s no plate like chrome for the Hollandaise.

{{{{Cookie and **Q’itih **}}}}

Lots of {{{{{{{{{ for Cookie, Mrs. Cookie and Q’ith }}}}}}}}.

And some more {{{{{{{ }}}}}}} for JtC and hubs while we’re at it.

It never gets easier.
