JtC, I’m very sorry.
Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions this afternoon after the rain left and got fried chikin plates. We et then nappage ensued, followed by day drinkin’. We know how to live it up, we do!
Taters yay for the fence gettin’ done so fast. Hope today has been (well, you’re still at it as I post) an easy one.
Lucky hope the open house goes well. Grout pens are a thing I have never thought about.
Nellie cannibals don’t eat people because they have bad taste; they don’t eat people that taste bad. Especially clowns cause they taste funny.
As a not-cat person this may be an exceedingly stupid question. But in the spirit of helping …
Is it possible the cat’s mobility is such that getting in and out of the box is now difficult or painful. I’ve not seen a catbox in decades, but IIRC the ancient ones were 3 or 4" tall. Which would be like you or I stepping over a crotch-high stile to enter a pasture. Easy at 20, harder now, and perhaps entering the realm of impossible.
The fact the cat pooped as soon as your wife lifted them into the box suggests it isn’t the texture or smell of the litter which is offputting. So it’s probably something else.
I have found that a calendar full of appointments can often turn into a big psychological burden. Despite no longer working, a week with nothing is delightful and a week with two stress-free things like haircuts or well-baby Dr. visits just feels like a chore. It’s irrational, but it’s real.
For that reason I have so far refused to join a club, set up volunteering, restart golf lessons, or anything else that has a semi-fixed ongoing participation expectation.
You bust butt hard at work and bust butt hard at play. Sometimes empty space on the calendar is the best battery charger.
Good on ya!
As to me …
In a nutshell this is low key fun so far, kinda like @Misnomer’s hooky. I’m falling far short of max-performing my days. Some of that is the lackadaisical nature of the local vendors of activities, but more of it is me.
The travel on Tuesday, when I woke up at home at midnight Mazatlán time to leave for here, kinda kicked my butt last night. Today I’m mostly circadian re-aligned, and tomorrow I should be fully realigned as long as I don’t stay out too late or raise excessive Hell tonight. So tomorrow should be more intensive. Should.
Weather so far is completely clear, upper 50s (=15ish) as the overnight low, and upper 70s / barely 80 (=25ish) in the afternoon. And a bit breezy. But very pretty.
I have been informed I will finally get my pay next Friday.
I feel fevery.
I napped. It monsooned. It must have bothered Spot, because he slept with me. He was also licking my head, because it’s not a nap with Spot if he’s not doing a weird. I dreamed I drove halfway to Independence, MO, abandoned my car, and started walking back home through the construction zone. The engineer molding the small gravel bed of the road into the shape of Egyptian sarcophagi was a nice touch.
: crosses fingers :
Hope you feel better, Coppertone. And you fianlly get your pay.
Bad Mother F***er Syndrome(when you thin you are Samuel L. Jackson)
The police asked me to help them search the compound of a serial killer who killed and dismembered clowns. I found this humerus.
Sloth is good. Just ask swampy
I have been informed how much I owe the U.S. Treasury and the State of California. And the accountant’s fee has reached almost $800.
I feel drained.
Evening, mumpers! It’s currently 4c/39f with a predicted high of 7c/44f and cloudy. Weather app says “Canis Major wants your fucking table scraps.”
I have read much and retained little so assorted yays, boos, hugs and scritches as needed.
Cookie if Q’iteh is having trouble getting in and out of the litter tray, you could try one with lower sides or a walk-in version. She might find that a bit easier.
Having a good time with our friends here, we head back to Chicago tomorrow night, then home on Friday.
The realtor has posted the pictures of our home online, and they look really pretty.
Real estate photographers sure use “stretch-o-vision” when they take pictures of the insides of homes. They made my little galley kitchen look long and sleek, and our shotgun shack “great room” look enormous.
We’re traveling to look at two homes in the 55+ neighborhood in our target city this weekend. Things are getting real.
Happy Anniversary!
I understand. She had a beautiful voice and a difficult life.
I’m glad you haven’t been hit by this. Sand in the air is a real pain.
Tell me if you’re out San Francisco way, it would be lovely to see you. (The Coast Starlight is a real treat - hint, hint.)
Best wishes to VBC (and you --hugs–)
Ugh. I hate that. Are you going to tell them?
Poor GC. Poor VBC.
PS - I saw the later news about VBC. My sympathies to you and hubby. Losing a pet is awful.
Not cool. Hanging Place, as my kids used to say.
Neat trick. You should charge to train others.
I am (obviously) way behind. Have you talked to the vet? She may have anything from a bladder infection (easily treatable) to kidney failure (which is much worse). It’s worth finding out. My best wishes to you all.
\
Probably not a good time that I’ve been hit by two tornados? I wish I’d bough lottery tickets instead. Pilot is right though. Despite my ridiculous luck, most people are not at risk. If you hear the sirens, move. Otherwise, you should be fine.
I’m sorry that I missed this news. My condolences.
You should be ashamed. Go think about what you did.

Howdy all. Life goes on. We’ve been adopted by a new kitten. Yes, I will post pictures. Yes, she is very cute. She has little pink toe beans!
Other than that, all I’ve got is hubby lost his job and we’re likely to move back to Oregon. Ask me if I’m tired of moving. Go ahead. Ask.
I’ve missed you all. Hugs and encouragement to all.
Happy Hump Day!
Another rainy day, so no park.
The dogs are getting restless. It stopped raining this evening but I think it is supposed to start again tonight.
There’s a place next to the creek where you can park and I think people fish there.
I don’t know what they’d be fishing for, the creek is not that big.
No trespassing signs have been put up, and the parking place has been barricaded. I wondered why until I saw how high the creek is.
The creek is almost to the top of the bank. It’s probably not a good idea to park there.
I kind of giggle at the creek though. Having grown up near the bay, where the creeks have drawbridges over them, this creek seems more like a big ditch to me.
I looked it up though, Antietam Creek is 41.7 miles long and 3 feet deep.
I still feel icky but I am not technically sick.
I’m crossing my fingers.
I stayed up to get my son last night, He got out at 1230. He expects to get out between 1 and 3 tonight. I guess I am going to go to bed.
He is still not better.
Well, he’s better, as in no longer sick, but not better in that he is still very tired.
Evening all. Swimming was accomplished and then took a walk around the soccer fields to check on the teams practicing. It’s colder than it has been lately, in the 50’s and windy so glad I decided to take my jacket with me. Came home and fixed a Chee-burger for dinner with an apple for a side, so belly is content for the time being. Not much else was accomplished however, so might have to make a list of things that need doing so I’ll actually do them.
doggio, another couple of years and you’ll crack the Top Ten.
Coppertone, hope you get feeling better.
Legend, been on a lot of trips and yeah, there are times I didn’t know how I’d get everything ready for me to go; somehow it always worked out.
Sticky Buns, since I worked for the US Government,
BMS - Bureau of Miscellaneous Management.
Oopsie, taking a week off is not a bad idea, you can get into a rut and it can be hard to climb out. I really need to plan a June/July vacation, but still ditzing around on what I want to do. Sloth is not a bad option.
Wheelie, celebrating your wife’s birthday at the Virgin hotel…verrry interesting…
Nellie, you constantly amaze me with the amount of walking you do. Half of that would put me flat on my back.
Pilot, hope the nightlife brings you back into the mood for travel. Hell can and should be raised.
Not sure if one is causing the other. Take care anyway.
flyboy, Ouch! on both parts of your news. Hope the damage isn’t too severe.
boo fae, glad you had a good time here in the States, hope the trip home is on-time and relaxing.
Lucky, I;m sure the right house is out there; just keeping fingers crossed that you can find it sooner rather than later.
Sunny, most sorry, probably won’t be out California way, took the Coast Starlight from Seattle to Portland but would love someday to do the entire route. And happy noises for the new feline overlord in your life.
Sari, we have a few creeks here where they close off the road after 2-3 days of rain because of flooding. Will cross some appendages for you too feel better.
OK, 9:20pm here so off to reading and then bedtime. Take care all, catch up again on Thorsday.
Sunny!!! Great to see you!
Moving again? Ugh! I think you and I moved about the same time last year. Our goal is to never do it again.
I was planning on getting my booster two weeks ago, but we went to WV instead. I think my immune system is up for the task, I’ve managed to dodge getting the plague so far. Of course I’ve trained my immune system by getting jabbed whenever the CDC told me it was time so there is that.
I wonder if a low-step litter box might be helpful? She knows where she needs to go, and is a good kitty, but her back legs are getting weak.
Their end days are always hard because we want to keep them longer than is kind to them. I knew right away that VBC was dying. Hubs wanted the ER visit instead of a fast euth, but we both really did want the ER folks to find something to fix.
It never gets easier. We know how much we will be hurting every time we bring a fuzzbutt into our lives, but we keep doing it because the joy and love we get more than makes up for the bad times.
I hope you have a great trip and see amazing things!
I am SO sorry you are dealing with this and I hope you get over it soon.
YES, lets just get this over with!!! Sleeping is for wimps!!!
I hope you and the Mrs have a great time.
Long covid is a thing. Some folks take months or even years to fully recover. I’ve never had it, but NF is still dealing with aftereffects of her last bout.
Well, heck. You just made me realize that I will be paying AZ taxes for the rest of my life. I think. I will put that on my list of things to get figured out before moving so thank you for the reminder.
That’s where we are now. Hubs bought a bundle of boxes and I’m going to start packing things AGAIN. WTF???
I hope you get what you want for your house and that you find the perfect place quickly.
Thank you for the kind words, it happened so quickly.
I’m really happy to see you posting again!
Nope, not going to start that conversation. This was supposed to be our last home and now I’m packing again. Such a PITA!!!
I am currently ripping out a large section of stiching because I didn’t read the pattern right. BAD WORDS!!!
Hubs took my car to town and got the tires checked and had a new battery put in it. I wasn’t having problems, but the battery is the one that came with the car back in 2018. The AZ heat is hard on batteries and he didn’t want me having problems while going to see the eclipse. He also had it washed which was very thoughtful.
Except…back when I was working with police files, I’d read why the cop pulled a car over. “The car looked very clean which made me think they wanted to look respectable to hide something, so I…” or “The car was very dirty and looked like it had been traveling over state lines, so I…”
Hubs and I are still sad, but GG is seriously grieving. He doesn’t understand why his mate is gone and we can’t explain. Hubs thinks we should contact the breeder and get another big cat, I think that would be a very bad idea at this point in time. Hubs is a pretty practical guy, he’s going to realize that moving one cat is much easier than moving two cats so we will wait until we are settled in before finding GG a companion.
I didn’t know they made those … my aunt from misc craves one occasionally … and dark chocolate orange cookies? thanks for the tips
it’s been quiet for here couple of days …
Probably not. Late Aged MIL lived in AZ for almost 50 years and had an ASRS pension. Once she sold her AZ real estate (her residence) and moved to MO her responsibility for AZ taxes ended.
You seem to me to be very similarly situated.
This is why my husband and I got stopped at the US border after going to Niagara Falls on our honeymoon. We’d dressed up a bit–I wore a dress, and he had on a sports coat–and we were pulled over and had to wait hours while they searched our car. They said we looked too clean-cut, like we were trying to put one over on them.
The Canadians weren’t at all paranoid. I was tempted to begin life anew in Windsor.
Psh. You’d just do the backstroke for several miles. You definitely have me beat for workouts, chum.
Hi Everyone!
I’m not on here as much as before, but I do think about ya’ll.
We are all good. The Japanese school year starts in April, so SenBoy and SenGirl and a grade older now. Times flies.
My part time schedule at the school looks really good this year. I’ve got one more class but they put them together on three days instead of four.
SenBoy’s former class in Taiwan is going on a week-long bike trip. The journey starts in Hualien, the location on yesterday’s big earthquake. All my wife’s family and our friends are OK, although things got shaken off shelves.
My nose is stuffed and I feel blah.
I wonder how long before I feel better. At least I’m not contagious.
Hi to all of you. I wish I had something interesting to post.
Assuming nothing untoward happens, today is haircut day. Yesterday, MIL was asking about shampoos at that salon (they’re $6) and suggested she go there every couple of weeks for a shampoo since washing her hair herself is so difficult. Sure, yeah, why not ask me to drive 15 miles each way and sit and wait instead of asking if I’d wash her hair while she’s in my shower and I’m just sitting around waiting for her to finish… (the sarcasm is strong in this one!) I will point out that it will be easier for me to wash her hair than go thru the mess of loading and unloading the wheelchair, driving there and back, sitting around waiting, blah blah blah rather than 10 minutes of helping her while she showers.
We’re promised sun this morning but another chance of rain this afternoon. Similar forecast for tomorrow, then some days in a row of decent weather. Maybe I can finally get out in the yard! Time to get the veggies in the ground and/or planters.
And so begins another day in paradise. Happy Thursday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 48 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of
< snerk > 69! < snerk > and N.O.S. for the day. A bit cooler than it has been. I will deal with various duties over to the church house this mornin’ and then we shall be bears who brunch at Eggs Up. The rest of the day will be devoted to sloth, general overall uselessness, nappage, and day drinkin’, as is our wont.
Sunny good to hear from ya! Yay on the new kitteh and boo on the movin’ again.
Coppertone good news on the paycheck. Hope the after effects of the plague are gone soonest.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire appropriate for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Such a bother and two days in a row of this. I am outraged.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
