NO GETTING SICK!!! STOP THIS RIGHT NOW!!!

I thought I might have finally caught the plague on our trip to WV because I had a sore throat and my voice seemed to be close to going out. I was wrong, it wasn’t the plague (thanks Science!), it was the constant air conditioning.

I’m really hoping my trip to Dallas won’t end up with me getting the plague, NF is a plague denier and TX didn’t seem like the sort of place that worried about all of that silly vaccination stuff.

That is a super cool chair, but don’t you think it would be more comfy with arms? Padded arms?

I’ve been

was looking for a bedroom chair wide enough to share with VBC and I knew that I’d need arms to lean on in case she wanted to sleep on me sideways.

FCD dealt with a similar @$$ the other day - the guy was apparently displeased that FCD wasn’t doing 80 or so in a 55 zone. Then he passed him on the right, pulled right in front, and jammed on his brakes before speeding off.Guess he showed him!! Nary a cop in sight, alas.

I’ve had to ask for my goodie bag the last 2 times I went. What’s up with that???

This made me giggle more than it should have!

Slept with Mel last night - I really needed that! I woke once from a dream where we were having to hide Tobias’ body… :open_mouth: That was pretty creepy, to say the least. I did manage to fall back to sleep again and got close to 8 hours all told. But I was awake and about to get up when I heard MIL fall in the bathroom, so that got both of us out of bed in a panic. She’d been doing so much better lately, but this was not her morning. FCD got her back to bed after she tended to business and I was getting up anyway, so Higgs has been tended and it’s me time.

I’m supposed to take ML for a haircut today. But the weather is going to be better tomorrow, so I’m going to try to convince her to put it off. I don’t want to wrangle a wheelchair from the trunk in the rain and push her thru puddles. And it’s not like she’s got a date tonight…

Yesterday I actually accomplished something! I cleared a lot of crap out of the garage - put away the good stuff and tossed the trash and bagged the thrift store donations. That left me a clear area to put all the boat stuff that’s been accumulating in the house - it’s all in one place when we’re ready to take it to the marina. Maybe I’ll take the thrift store stuff today to be rid of it.

But that’s for daylight. Now’s for reading. Happy Wednesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out with rain with a predicted high of 73 with rain continuin through the mornin’ and then maybe partly to mostly N.O.S. after that. We shall delay the procurement of provisions until the rain goes away. Thus we shall get fried chikin plates from the pubic sto’ for late N.O,L./early sup. Works for me! Other than that, the usual sloth etc as is our wont, is on the agenda.

Sticky_Buns that chair needs arms. A royal throne must always have arms.

Nellie I still say you have an Audrey II growin’ there.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and bother, I suppose I must at some time or other purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. How I do suffer for my public!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 42 degrees Fahrenheit outside, dark, damp, and mostly cloudy. The expected high temperature is 53 degrees Fahrenheit, with partly to mostly cloudy skies. I have another app that states it’s supposed to rain today, but we’ll see.

Cookie, I’m sending hugs to you, the misses and the kitty. I know how difficult those decisions are.

JtC, Polar has been gone for six months now; I still find myself calling or looking for him in his spots. It’s going to take time. I miss that magnificent boy more than anything.

So, the three-man fence crew came and went. The foreman and one of the crew were Ukrainian, so communication was a little tricky at times. Still, we successfully communicated between a phone translator and drawings when his English wasn’t sufficient to make things clear. I asked where Yakov was from, and he told me Ukraine, so that’s how I knew they were Ukrainian. I was surprised, but they got the job all done yesterday. I was surprised because the last time it was a two-day job.

On the other hand, this time, the crew consisted of three, whereas the last time, it was two. Additionally, these guys worked from 9:00 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. and didn’t stop for a break, that we could see. We offered them snacks and drinks because we didn’t ever see them stop and figured they had to be hungry and thirsty. They listened to my concerns about keeping the gap on the ground very low so the pups couldn’t dig underneath and installed a modified fence panel for the privacy section. It’s the same type of fencing as the rest of my privacy fence, so everything matches. The hog wire panel fence they installed to section off the portion of my yard where I planted all my flowers is beautiful and will let in light for the plants. The pups won’t get to zoom through their favorite portion of the yard, but my plants will now be safe. I must start over in many respects, but now I know my work won’t be destroyed.

Because the crew worked so late, I could not get to Mud Bay to pick up dog food for the pups. I will have to go first thing when they open. For breakfast this morning, they’ll get some eggs mixed with the tiny bit of remaining kibble. I should have gone on Monday, dang it.

I planned on working throughout the day yesterday, but I quickly gave up on that idea and emailed my boss, telling him I would be out for the day. He was cool with that. However, today will be hellacious because I have a lot to accomplish. I’m sure (other than dipping out for 10 minutes to get the puppy food) I’ll be working non-stop and late.

I’m sorry, I’ve read but retained little. I’m super tired and can’t catch up on my rest. The pups were highly agitated all day yesterday because of the crew. They wanted to be out in THEIR yard to play. We had to keep taking them for walks on the leash, but stubborn Maisie held on to her water until 7:00 last night when she finally made water while on a leash. We praised her to high heaven. That dog refuses to potty while on a leash.

Okay, I need to cook the pups breakfast. My best to all.

Showered, dressed, emptied the dishwasher, and made a cucumber salad - all before 9AM! Go me!!!

:champagne:

It’s a tired kind of day for sure. Taters, I hope that work is not as bad as you think it will be.

I do agree that arms on a chair is probably more appropriate, but… That chair is so lovely!!!

Ok, so I’m up and have had breakfast. I made a list of things to do today. So far I’ve done one, so I guess that’s a good start. When the spirits move me, I’ve got to work on finishing up the city taxes. The others have been filed, so I can almost see the finish line!

Oh, and the date has been set for me to start removing things from my classroom. It’s going to take me two trips as it won’t all fit in my car at once. Fortunately I should be able to take quite a bit of my stuff to my volunteer gig at the AMC.

Have a great day, everyone!

I’m up and have taken care of a couple of housecleaning things in preparation for this weekend’s open house for our home. Those were: clean that grotty corner of the living room floor that never seems to get cleaned, and use a grout pen on some places on the bathroom floor where the grout paint I applied three years ago was starting to wear away.

Grout pens are awesome. They’re just concealers, but when nothing you do cleans dirty grout (and believe me, I’ve tried everything), you can use a pen to at least conceal the dirt with clean paint. The grout paint has lasted quite well for three years. You can clean it if you’re gentle, as it’s tough outdoor latex paint. But it’ll eventually start to wear away. Fortunately, touching it up is easy-peasy, as long as you have saved some extra grout pens of the same color.

that is a very cool chair.

Good morning all. It’s bright outside, all the rain (such as it was) is gone but the temperatures are in the 50’sF for the next several days, so goodbye to those 70F days, at least for a little while. Nothing much on the agenda, so will head out to do my swimming later today, and might even do a little housework.

Lucky, never looked for a grout pen, might have to consider them I doubt that I’ve done anything special grout-wise-cleaning in years. Still haven’t looked into getting a house cleaning service yet. Hope the Open House is successful.

Sticky Buns I’m the same way, put something on a list and I’ll do it, just getting me to put things on a list is the problem…and really cool chair.

Taters, sounds like the fence will be a success.

FCM, looks like it’ll stay wet around your place most of the day, so postponing the hair trip until tomorrow sounds like a good call. And I need to clean out my garage one of these days, probably need a hazmat suit for all the stuff that has been sitting there for years (decades?).

JtC, I’m sure you’ll take precautions and will stay well down in Big-D.

Sari, hoping you’re well.

OK, fast is broken and trains and planes watched on You Tube, so will press on with the day. Have a good Hump Day all.

So, they put in a new salad shooter on SSLAW #2, apparently powered by a flatulent canary(it makes " < fssshhhh > < chirp chip >" noises). It died after maybe 400 packages. So they put in the backup new one. It died after 350 packages. So we had 1 SSLAW, and 3 guys with imprinters. Did I mention Wednesday is our busy day? So it took forever. Then I got sent to the 100. First loading Top White on 100 south, then just picking for that set, then over to 100 North for more loading. As I was leaving I found out that TVCTPMO had sent our semi working label spitter to Atlanta, and they sent us the 2 non working oldones. Oy vey. On the bright side, they put up the new seniority lists, and I’ve moved from 59 to 32 on Preload. [the Hunger Games]May the odds be ever in your favor [/the Hunger Games]

I hope not either, you have enough to deal with.

“Grout, grout, dammed spot!” - MacBeth

No cat problems last night. I changed up her food, mixing some wet and dry together, which she seems to like. The wife was in the bathroom (where the litter box is) and noticed the cat pacing around her box without going in. She picked her up and put her in the box and the cat immediately pooped. Yay! So I think a change in litter type is in the near future.

Puzzled and Wordled and exercised for the day. Snagged an appointment for cortisone injections for my hip problems for next week. Sure hope it’s effective.

Woke with a sore throat feeling gunky.
Had to go to the gastroenterologist.
I now have my appointment for the 29th.
Went and got a few groceries, off to the library
Its a dull cloudy day here.

It’s so hard trying to figure out how to keep senior and sick kitties as happy as possible.

I switched to a grass-based litter a couple of years ago when Roxy was having recurring UTIs and peeing outside the box. It’s lighter than clay, but it clumps really well and really fast, and it seems to keep odor down. I use Smart Cat unscented, and the cats like it. It’s a good bit more expensive than clay litter, and they track it out of the box a bit more, but it’s softer on the paws.

JtC, I wish there was some way for this time to be easier on you. It leaves an oversize hole in our lives when we lose well-loved pets.

We’re flying out to MI tomorrow, and I have a list of chores to do today that’s as long as my arm. Unfortunately, I’ve been able to take time to write that list because there are two very needy cats pinning me down this morning. Roxy is missing her person, so she’s graciously decided I’m the substitute, which makes Khoshekh jealous, so he’s vying for lap space with her. Meanwhile, the laundry isn’t folding itself, I have to pick up prescriptions, the dishes need to be done and the refrigerator cleared out, and I want to be sure at least the living room and the downstairs bathroom are clean and inviting for our petsitter. Oh, and I have to take an hour out of the day for an appointment at 12:30.

Does anyone else feel like nothing but cancelling and staying home the day before a trip?

The sheer anxiety gets to me. That’s why I’ve sworn off all outdoors (and probably indoors) art shows for now. There’s so much planning involved and it overwhelms me. I did one show last summer and it just about did me in.

My mouth absolutely hates me today. The sides of my tongue are screaming and this joyful BMS has also traveled down my throat today so it hurts to swallow, too. Ugh.

Copper tone, I hope that you feel better!

One of my (very corny) favorite things to do is to create different meanings for acronyms.

So, here we go: BMS -Burning Mouth Syndrome

BMS - Big Mean Sucker
BMS - Beautiful Meaningful Serene
BMS - Bananas Make Slime
BMS - Bargaining Matchmakers Speak

Anyone want to try?

I started writing a post yesterday afternoon, but then decided I didn’t really have anything to say – even as replies – so I discarded it. “Meh” wound up kind of being a theme for the day: I was also just enough under the weather to cancel my personal training session, plus I gave in to laziness and had more bananas and Gatorade Zero delivered via Instacart…which resulted in some bakery items, a package of Pepperidge Farm’s new Ojai (soft-baked lemon sugar) cookies, and a small turkey-and-provolone sub finding their way to my door as well. I just ate the other half of the sub for lunch.

Physically I’m feeling better today, but there’s still some residual “meh.” The rainy/stormy weather is probably part of it, but also I think I need kind of a break: taking Sunday off from volunteer-related work has morphed into a desire to take advantage of having a week with no voice lesson, no medical appointments, no evening meetings or plans, etc. I have no reason to leave the house until Friday’s late afternoon vet appointment; after which, I’ll decide whether I feel up to heading to DC for some live jazz (I’m not leaning toward it). And aside from seeing my personal trainer on Saturday morning, I have no plans this weekend. Basically, other than my day job I’m doing as little as possible for the next several days.

How have I lived for 52 years without it occurring to me to put slivered almonds on my Cheerios?!? Brilliant!

That purple color is gorgeous, but I would hate that chair! LOL! Like JtC I need arms, and a large enough seating area to be able to have a leg alternately crossed under me/pulled up in front of me.

This was a winning combo for Bailey for many years: lately, though, I’ve been putting the wet on top of the dry vs mixing it together. It’s often a struggle to get her to eat breakfast, and a while ago I noticed that if I can get her to start eating (the wet food) she’ll often realize she’s hungry and keep going (with the dry food).

Just the opposite for me. I’m always packed and ready the day before, and once that’s done I just want to go already. The night before traveling always feels tedious.

JtC, continuing hugs and comforting thoughts to you, hubs and GG. There are cats I’ve lost 10 or more years ago that I still miss dearly.

Mrs W’s birthday is coming up in two weeks, but I will be out of town. So she’s declared this coming weekend to be her birthday. We’ll be spending two nights at the Virgin hotel near the Strip, and going to Meow Wolf Saturday afternoon and Giada’s for dinner. All her choices, and I’m happy with them.

Hi oopsie our favorite Pepperidge Farm cookie is Milano Orange Chocolate. Our daughter recently found another new one, I don’t remember the name but has Earl Grey tea in it, I thought it was ok but I’m sticking with my Milano Orange Chocolate. How was the Ojai (soft-baked lemon sugar)?
The reason I put the slivered almonds on Hubs cheerios is that the immunosuppression drug he is taking depletes magnesium, that’s why he’s getting the infusion and also takes SLO-MAG. The Stem Cell Transplant team told me to look into foods with a lot of magnesium. Almonds have quite a bit of magnesium. So I decided to try slivered almonds on my cereal as well and I really liked it.
Dark chocolate also has a lot of magnesium but I’m not giving Hubs my Lindt dark chocolate bunny :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve only been to Vegas one time for my sister’s wedding in October 2005. We had a great breakfast at the Bellagio. Love the Chihuly in the lobby. Happy birthday to Mrs. W.

{{{JtC and crew}}}

I hope that the feeling sickly is a false alarm sari.

Irked, came home, walked Nelson and et. Now for studio time.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Shot day. I walked 4.5 miles and am now wiped. I don’t think I have 100% of my energy back. Just after I left the apartment, it started hailing. Luckily it was soft hail.

Taters, I hope you get to catch up on your rest soon. It can’t be good for you to be so rest-deprived.

Sari, I hope you’re not getting sick. Coppertone, hope you feel better.

Yikes. I’d better start getting on its good side and talking VERY LOUDLY about how cannibals refused to eat me because I have bad taste.

For some reason, my dogs liked their kibble and/or gooshy food mixed with warm water. Ms. Dog likes it, too. I don’t know why, as it’s not Gravy Train. (Do they still MAKE Gravy Train?)

Happy Birthday, Ms. W.!

I felt gunky and achy earlier. I laid down for a bit. So you continue to feel bad after Covid?
I tested, its not there.
