(Old) Are you a "leaf peeper" in the MMP?

Fine afternoon here. Her Ladyship went to a social afternoon then dinner yak with the Library Ladies. I ate my leftovers from our big Fri night dinner. Which includes a glass or two from the very nice bottle I got there & brought most of home. One of the cool legacies of COVID in FL is open container laws are sorta waived for bar / restaurant leftovers. Which is actually wise public policy; you’d rather they bring it home for later than chug it at the eatery to avoid wasting it.

Been balconatin’ in the late afternoon becoming just now sunset. We had a brief rain for a few minutes followed by a fuzzy rainbow. Now it’s become darkish and I’m watching a small t-storm fire big thick bolts into the sea.

Just spent 30 minutes on the phone with an old pilot pal I don’t cross paths with naturally. Great guy though; we’ve been together off and on for 30 years. He’s in a bit of a medical crisis with macular degeneration in one eye at the age of 62. But it’s not real bad yet and he’ll get back in the saddle soon once he gets his waiver paperwork approved by FAA. Another reminder we’re all getting older.

@FairyChatMom that is an adorable dragon. I bet the kids will love it until it falls apart. As @nelliebly said, it'd be easy to remodel that basic pattern into a kangaroo.

@Nellie: Your son surprising you at the door is great! No better way to melt Mom’s heart.

@Bumbazine: Hi fellow diabetic. Even ignoring cost & needles you’d be better off on Glipizide if it works for you. I’m one of the lucky folks whose innards get along w Metformin. works for me. Shame you’re not in that club. Cheap and easy is cheap and easy.

As to 'puters, …

I’d much rather buy a PC loaded with bloatware I can uninstall than a locked-down phone loaded with bloatware I can’t uninstall. I look at it as all those advertisers paying me $200+ (in reduced PC price) to spend 45 minutes deleting all their crap. That’s a decent hourly rate. Besides, I’m stickin’ it to their Man, and that’s worth a lot of mental satisfaction. :money_mouth_face:

FWIW, I use Microsoft Defender as my AV/malware. Less intrusive than Avast and as good or better per 3rd party reviews.

FCM, love the dragon. Crocheted animals do tend to be cute. I have a nephew that told me he still has a cat I made for him when he was seven. Of course he doesn’t sleep with it anymore, but still.

I cleaned. I watched the Packers choke. It didn’t rain much, and it was warm, but the clouds gave me winter boredom and ennui. I’m fighting it with a Wisconsin Old Fashioned.
I emailed both foster parents to find out about doggie health and med costs. Because being able to afford to keep a pup healthy will be the tiebreaker if it comes down to it.

So if I put my hand in the river, am I grabbing your Nooksack?

That is seriously cool.

Awwwww.

Geez, imagine what a human sized dose would cost! :butterfly:
(and yes, I will take my next spelling based roasting like I deserve it. Because I will)

I need to find a pattern - That sounds adorbs!!

I didn’t make it for the grands - it will be sold (I hope) at the school fund raiser. Hope I can get $15 for it. There’s at least that much cussing in it!

Thanks, all, for the nice words about the dragon. The crocheting wasn’t hard, but sewing all the pieces on it was a royal pain in the patoot. One of the big horns was placed and removed 3 times till I was satisfied with it. And after I finished that, I made a sea turtle, a gnome, and an octopus. My fingers need a rest.

The rain has finally come, and if the local weather guy guessed right, we could get 3/4 inch tonight. Which means I probably won’t be able to mow tomorrow - damn the luck!

But it’s now after 10 and I need my beauty sleep. So until tomorrow - MWAH!!! :kissing_heart:

Some kid will love it until it falls apart. Even if you never know their name, you’ll know they’re out there.

Happy Sunday!

It’s a rainy day.
We didn’t go to the park; I’m hurting and my son is tired.

We planned to take some stuff over to the new house today, but that won’t happen.
We have to go over and take a package in. The package was supposed to be delivered next weekend and it was delivered yesterday.
I hope it didn’t get wet and ruined, the box should be on the covered porch and it’s the base cabinet inside.

Just got back. It’s raining hard and I am cold. I should have grabbed a jacket.
It’s miserable out there.
There were a bunch of packages on the porch, some of them were soaked, but everything looked okay.

I’m in the same city, Butters, but outside of the city limits in the middle of cows and cornfields.
I have 1/3 of an acre, so not a huge lot.
I have neighbors on both sides, one house is pretty close, but I hear he is a nice guy and an OTR trucker and not home much. His back yard is full of boy toys. The neighbors on the other side are further away and I hear they keep to themselves. Behind me are cornfields, across the street neighbor’s house is set very far back from the road and the front pasture has a horse and a donkey.
The street I’m on is narrow enough that if somebody is driving towards you, you have to slow down and scooch over, so there is not a lot of traffic.

There’s also an old mill down the road, a beautiful building that is falling apart. It is made of fieldstone and has an archway over the creek. I was happy to find out that there is a family who bought it and are restoring it.
I hate to see beautiful old buildings fall to waste.

I spent the day doing laundry and sorting papers. Such a mess, and it wasn’t that long ago that I sorted them. I need to find a filing system that works for me. I bought a 12-drawer craft cart thinking of a drawer for each category, but I started putting other stuff in there too and ran out of space.
Tomorrow we are moving stuff to the new house. It’s supposed to be clear out, so we should be able to make a few trips. The new house doesn’t have a coat closet. Why do I consistently buy houses that have no coat closet?! I have a shoe rack here, and it is an okay one, but I’d rather have something with doors. I hate visual clutter. I thought I saw a wardrobe that we could hang coats in the top and had a place for shoes on the bottom.
I can’t find it now.

It’s almost 10pm and all three dogs have zoomies.
This is why we need to go to the park every day.
The GR are so big, taller than Ripple was, but they don’t have his bulk, yet.
Poor Misiu wants to sit in my lap, but he is way too big for that.
I need to weigh them before their next heart worm and flea pills. I’m sure they are in to the next weight category.

I haven’t seen Adam all day. I saw on the Ring that my son let him out around 830. I guess he is out there somewhere sheltering himself from the rain. Or at another house, because I am pretty sure somebody else is feeding and sheltering him. I’m sure they are going to worry when he moves.

I hope you have better luck finding a dining set Taters. Everything is so expensive, and to my eye, cheap looking.
A friend suggested checking out MAXSOLD website. She has gotten some fantastic deals there.

What a nice surprise for you Nellie!

Cute dragon, FCM

In her defense, she is a hospice nurse. She lives to make things easier and cheaper for people, new and improving things for people is her calling. Due to the nature of her work, she also understands limits and boundaries so as soon as I say something won’t work for me, she doesn’t push back.

This is also the reason I wasn’t that worried about it, when one of her patients is imminent, she drops everything to devote herself to the patient and their family. She doesn’t know how to say no when her agency calls her, so she will miss the eclipse because she is caring for someone during their final days. I really hope she doesn’t spend her final days regretting missing things like this.

GRRRRR!!!

Shots always hurt after I take the bandaid off. I’m a weenie.

I can certainly understand your mindset here. Back when I retired, it was months before I stopped setting my alarm for the fun of waking up, thinking that I didn’t have to do this anymore and shutting it off and going back to sleep.

Have you considered getting involved with the textile arts? Unlike blacksmithing or woodworking, needlework has apartment sized tools that can be used inside. Your Ladyship would probably enjoy advising you and it would be something the two of you could do together. The nice thing about needlepoint is that I can do it when I want and can even quit mid-piece to start something shinier if I’m in the mood.

Keep them on your list and pray they don’t change management!

Broken sleep isn’t the best thing in the world, but it’s better than not sleeping due to pain.

I’m so happy your son arrived with the presents, son arriving had to have been the best part!

My version is sitting out in my back porch. It is covered and deep enough that I don’t get any of that nasty sun AND we installed a compressor run misting system which is super nice. Our last one was hose run and didn’t make mist as much as large falling drops of water. It still gets too hot during the middle of the summer (grow trees, GROW) but I will turn the misters on to watch the hummers play.

My favorite time is just as dusk is falling, the sky is pink and rose and the hummers are peacefully sitting side by side while they tank up for the long dark. The sky slowly turns periwinkle and then full dark as the stars start twinkling.

Of course, the mornings are fun too, that is when the birds are eating and the hummer wars are in full swing.

Did you know that each cat talks differently to each hooman slave? They teach us their language because we all understand what OUR overlords are saying but can’t translate recordings of other cats saying the same thing.

FCM, that dragon is adorbs! I hope the sale makes lots of money.

Did you know that tomorrow is National Cheeseburger Day and lots of the fast food chains are selling their cheeseburgers for very little bits of money or even free?

Of course that means that you shouldn’t go anywhere a McD’s or Wendy’s tomorrow because the lines will be blocks long, but now you know.

I am SO happy GG hasn’t figured out the doors yet. We have old fart lever handles which means that all he would have to do to open our bedroom door when I’m changing the sheets is to stand up, push down on the handle and push the door open.

Ouch! We used to worry so much over making one mortgage payment, I can’t imagine how stressful two are.

They knew you loved them every day.

It really wouldn’t be reasonable to expect a consumer to keep a separate set of bags for each different store at which he routinely shops.  I think any store would have to take it as a given that most customers are going to be bringing in an eclectic collection of bags obtained at different stores, and bearing the liveries thereof.
