Yaay! I is now officially a drain on society, supping at the public trough. Thanks everyone for the well-wishes.
The afternoon stop at my friend’s shop turned into a party that turned into big boy dinner out. Great fun and excellent convo. Got home pretty late and pretty over-partied. Moving a bit slowly today, but otherwise undamaged. If we had any interactions with the police I don’t recall them.
Like swampy, today shall be in-home slothage and little else. I made reservations for Her Ladyship and I to do an intimate multi-course gourmet event on Fri night.
Hooray for new trees! The mysterious pain in the night that goes away as unexpectedly as it arrives is one of the “fun” features of bodies. Which evidently get more “fun” as they age. I’ve certainly had my share, although not recently that I recall.
That transition really had me confused about how the Australians’ leaf-peeping trip was ruined at a hospital.
Glad to hear your leg issues are manageable, not serious. Be extra careful not to break the skin in the reddened areas. The skin is weak and you don’t want to be mainlining those bacteria any deeper into your system if you can avoid it.
The usual Wednesday heave. I topped and did my Aldi run. Now it’s naptime.
Yeah, I’m missing it(even if Spot acts more dog than cat)
I suppose if he wants to suffer, that’s cheaper than hiring a domanatrix. YMMV.
pinkie cramps.
Hopefully not an airline multi course gourmet dinner. Because that would be 3 peanuts, 4 pretzels, and splitting a 8oz warm ginger ale.
But enjoy draining!
This is us. But we already decided that when our critters die, we won’t get any more. Not to mention the expense on a fixed income - vet costs seem to have gone thru the roof.
Tobias was driving his toy busses over my head, because toddler. I will miss him when he starts preschool. Except for the tantrums - those can be epic.
One more load to be washed. I also emptied the dishwasher. Haven’t thawed anything tho. Supper may be sketties. We shall see.
He’s an indulgent father and a person who wants to fix everything. He decided he can help his daughter fix her work issues by joining the board. It’s just the way he is.
My new little bed shelf is wonderful and is already covered with snacks, an ashtray w half a joint, I have a bottle of green tea at hand, and I have the window wide open but a thick comforter on the bed and have basically moved into this pile of pillows. Monkey was snuggling with me earlier but eventually got annoyed enough at my constant petting to leave & take over my chair. So I’ve spent the morning dozing, eating crackers in bed, watching nature videos & enjoying the cool breeze while being absolutely lazy as hell.
In about an hour, I shall hafta shevel and go to irk. My lovely manager had to leave town for a funeral, and her replacement this week is likely our G.M. who - while nowhere near as bad as that I used to work for, is still not my favorite person.
I swear, though, if I didn’t hafta work or pee, I wouldn’t leave this cozy nest for days. I’m so comfy! My back is relaxed!
Ok, so now I really understand why they say to use Great Stuff in well ventilated areas. I just applied some in an attic crawl space and was definitely seeing double by the time I finished.
JtC, the neighbors with the ill behaved dog moved a couple of months ago. Much as I love dogs, folks should consider their neighbors wherever they live.
It’s Thursday eve! It’s been a long week and I’ll be glad for the weekend.
I bought an aloha shirt 20-some years ago. I’d worn it enough that the label can’t be read, but otherwise the shirt is in ‘like new’ condition. Very nice material; I probably paid a lot for it at Hilo Hattie’s. (I certainly paid more for it than I did for my other aloha shirts.) The trouble is, I’ve lost a lot of weight since then and it’s like a tent. Well, it was. I took it in to be taken in. It’s a bit long, but it fits now.
The supermarket has Dungeness crab clusters (legs and the knobby, meaty attachment bit) for $10.98/pound. The Spousal Unit is picking some up. We have corn onna cob and butter, so we’re set for dinner.
After I left Daughter’s, I ran to Aldi because I needed milk, and I grabbed a few other things. They’ve installed 6 self-checkout terminals - YAY! That should move things a tad faster, plus if you self-check, you can bag as you go. I went to the regular checkout because all the self terminals were occupied, but next time…
We went out for not-too-terrible Chinese for supper. I divided my serving so I have lunch for tomorrow, plus a buttload of rice for Tobias.
Last load of laundry (sheets) has been folded and stowed. Chillage for the balance of the day.
When I shop at Aldi I’m always amazed at the lightning speed of their checkers. No other groc store comes close. No way could self-checkout be faster in the sense of scan rate. For sure if the 6 self-checkouts are in addition to the staffed ones, or worse yet the un-staffed ones that’s a gain and if they amount to an express line for small purchases that’d help even more.
For sure the idea you need to rebag your stuff after they’ve scanned it is a collossal time sink. If you can eliminate that bottleneck in how you self-scan that’d be huge.
As advertised, today here has been mostly slothage. Not hung over feeling, just low on sleep and slow-moving. A nap might have been a nice idea, but too late now.
I tried logging on to irk and they had no idea who I was. Great. I’ve been uninstalling irk-related apps from my phone, and deleting irk-related favorites out of my browser.
Around 1pm we walked to a nearby eatery where Her Ladyship had very late breakfast and I had slightly late lunch. Their patty melts are great and are a weak point with me. Too much carby bread but too tasty to not order. And patty melts must be eaten by dipping into a big pile of too-sweet ketchup before each bite.
Dinner shall be a small sample of leftovers from last night. And thus I will have spent the first of I hope many post-work days. Not that I intend to spend them all this uselessly, but at least some.
Howdy Y’all! Been a day of mostly slothage and general overall uselessness. I did cook up the collard greens for tomorrow’s sup (they are better reheated the next day) and make up some dressin’ also for tomorrow’s sup. Outside of that, nappage, day drinkin’, and Netflixin’ took up the rest of the day. Leftovers got heated and et for sup and the kitchen cleanded up, so that was a little productivity as well. All in all a good day. It’s been rainy off and on, which both of us like a lot.
Pilot glad you enjoyed your first day of bein’ a retired drain on society.
The crabbage and corn onna cob were good. We each had half a stick of (unsalted) buttah. And we have two Dungie halves and two ears of corn for mañana!
