(Old) Autumn Equinox - changing colour in the MMP

In muddy puddles??

I always see that as EMT and it throws me for a bit. Can’t get my eyes checked (under insurance) till Feb, so I guess I’ll just deal.

My phone and my tablet sometimes seem to have a problem recognizing my finger when I try to swipe or open an app. They’re both Samsung, so we’re not talking a crappy cheap phone, at least I don’t think so. I guess it’s my finger? Yeah, first world problems.

The rain continues here also - a nice, gentle shower that the farmers could have used last month. We might see the lows 70s today. Or not. Who knows? I need to break out MIL’s small heated blanket - she’s always cold, and the damp seems to make it worse. One electric blanket is smarter (to my mind) than trying to arrange multiple small afghans. We’re still some time away from firing up the pellet stove, tho she’d want it now.

I’m showered and dressed. Dishwasher is emptied. MIL is still sleeping (I hope - I have a constant fear of going to wake her and…) Anyway, I guess I can crochet till Jessica gets here, then I’ll do some rollsuckage.

I think it is, in the same way snost is a word.

(Curious, I just googled it and discovered that I did not originate the word. :frowning: )

i can’t believe it is still wednesday. after monday’s excitement with foot, i also spent close to an hour trying to get internet working at home; i was looking forward to a quiet night at home…

i had intermittently forgotten about the great cinematic event going on in the building; tuesday evening.

we were filming around the ground floor of the building for an instructional about the various ways to dispose of items. i know y’all are going to go wild here, there are various bins and skips involved in this ground breaking flick.

we had a person in a green cape and mask who would jump in and stop a person from careless disposal.

3 people would act out careless and careful disposal, and a very cute pup named romeo (who was the star of the film with his bubble bee outfit.).

we started with romeo as the light outside was going. his person had a prop of fake poo. we filmed the fake poo in a wrong place, the cape crusader leaped in with an admonishing action. then we filmed proper poo disposal with the cape crusader, romeo, and his person fist bumping and thumps up. this was filmed in 2 locations.

then we moved to the bins and skips! filming recycle bins and flat cardboard skip. we did some cool imagery with the box of cardboard. we filmed and unflatten box the cape crusader jumps in and admonished, then snaps her fingers, we quickly flatten the box and film the cape crusader with jazz hands.

it really worked! it looked nearly professional.

we then went to the good will bins (where our cinematographer found a phillies jersey! score!) i had a bag of stuff to go in so that evened out.

then the shred bin. and on to the very exciting compost and bottle room. for compost we had a greasy pizza box and did the snap thing again. an actor brings a box to the compost room and the cape crusader rejects the box, snaps fingers, and the box is shown ripped into small pieces and placed in the bin. we also showed compost in a compostable bag. the bottle room is only for glass bottles and we had the caped crusader and an actor bringing wine bottles to the room.

we then moved to the rubbish and trash rooms. we have rubbish rooms on the residential halls and trash rooms on the ground floor. we showed not putting pizza boxes, paint cans, pet waste, and large pieces of styrofoam in the rubbish room or chute. the caped crusader admonished and pointed to the elevators and down. we then went to the trash room and showed proper disposal.

we did quite well on time about an hour and a half and now it is in editing. we relied on silent film acting techniques as there will be voice over in the finished product.

tonight is the big board meeting with board elections. we will be announcing the new chairs. another wild night.

MIL told me she was tired of rye toast, so I bought mini bagels (plain and raisin) plus toaster waffles. Guess what she asked for the last 2 days - go ahead, guess…

And now I’m hearing about people I never knew in Ocala who are now dead. Ummm, ok. I wish Jessica would get here.

A nice man in brown brought BIL’s bike into the garage and placed it so FCD can park when he gets home.

Jessica is running late and MIL is driving me crazy asking about a little purse that I’ve never seen. It may well be here but I know it’s not in the cabinet with her meds. She’s gotten obsessive about the strangest things lately. Like re-sorting a bag of socks she’s sorted several time. And discussing her underwear again and again. The mental decline is awful to watch.

Think I’ll make lunch.

For 62K, it didn’t seem busy on the 100 table and slide. But it did dribble on long enough to make some time, and the rain had stopped by the time I left. When I got home, and was going to shower, Spot jumped into the tub:
< jumps in and looks around >
< puts paws on clear shower liner and tries to jump out >
< fails >
< tries harder >
< fails harder >
< more tries >
< looks at me in exasperation > “Lower this forcefield, you treacherous simian!”
I did, after I stopped laughing.

Are there actually not tedious meetings?

“There’ll be no money, but on your deathbed you will receive perfect consciousness.” - Caddyshack

Then the new board will 86 the old boards chair decision.

And back from the hearing aid folks, only there for a few minutes, a couple questions and they checked the aids and I was out in 10 minutes…which was just enough time for it to start raining again, so came home and had my sammich and soup lunch and will head over to the swimmin’ pool in about an hour or so. Suspect soccer is going to be cancelled due to the continuing rain, so can take my time and get my full 1.5 miles in.

rocky, a sure-fire Oscar nomination for sure!! Enjoy the politicking.

FCM, rye toast does sound pretty good… Hang in there, I agree watching someone decline towards death is never fun, but you’re doing fine.

doggio, Spot is almost as much fun as GG.

Press on.

Totally not making this up!!

Go ahead and check out the link everybody except FCM!

It’s another rainy/overcast day, but slightly warmer than yesterday: currently 69°F, with an expected high of 71. So it’s cool enough, but with just a touch of damp/ick in the air. Still good enough weather for me to have the storm door’s bottom pane raised a little. I hadn’t realized how much of a habit doing that has become until this morning, when Bailey stood in the living room at the “usual” time – right before I disappear into the home office – and stared at me until I opened the inside door and raised the storm door’s bottom pane. Ha. I’ll keep doing that for her as long as I can.

The only reason I haven’t recently nagged my property manager about replacing the storm door (it’s been a month) is because none of the new models seems to have a screen on the bottom; only the top. When the time comes, I’m sure Bailey will really miss being able to stand right in front of the screen and fully smell/hear everything happening in the neighborhood. I’m gonna need to bug him about it soon, though, because I’d like to have a new one before winter hits – at some point I’ll need to stop raising the bottom pane every morning, anyway.

Last night I decided that I’m going to change my Lego message board from “Everthing Is Awesome” to “Live Laugh Lego.” I thought of that all by myself, which is the most creative Lego-related thing I’ve ever done! Arranging the words and supports (and assembling the letters I don’t already have) will give me something to do this weekend, plus it occurred to me that changing the message from time to time could be something that scratches my Lego “itch” without having to buy a new set. Win-win!

I feel like I slept alright, but I’m a little tired today and pretty unmotivated work-wise. I guess the staycation effect wore off after just two days. Heh. But it’s just about time for my afternoon protein shake; maybe that’ll wake me up a little (Ensure Max cafe mocha with caffeine). Two of today’s six meetings got cancelled, but I still have a 4:00…just gotta get through that one.

I’m definitely on the losing end of that! But I’m sure you’ll say/do something at some point that prompts me to propose.

Yep, I’m aware of them; plus the little store-brand cups of chocolate and vanilla that we used to get at birthday parties. Even those are too much for me these days.

Oh man, for a second there I thought I was in trouble for something…

Haha! :joy:

I need to commit this one to memory.

Dang, I’m sorry!

The only trouble you get from me is your choice of ice cream, LOL!

Heh.

We have some puddles in our yard but I didn’t play in them. I went to class instead. I’m probably going to buy a swim cap soon, my hair doesn’t like getting washed every day.

Whoo! That sounds like SO much fun! Is there a way to share a link?

And you lived to tell the tale. That’s pretty amazing!!!

I know someone who would sell her house just to rent there, some folks are just nutz, LOL!

It’s been raining most of the day, a nice slow soaking drizzle most of the time but harder at moments. I’ve sat on the front porch, out in the back yard and I’ve fetched in the mail. Tonight we are going to have a white pizza from the good place and discuss arranging the living room. Notice that I didn’t say anything about actually doing anything about it, that will happen another day.

Howdy Y’all! Another executive decision that superceded the executive decision of breakin’ fast for sup was made and we had an early N.O.L. at the hog trough GC. We can break fast for sup tomorrow while we’re holed up due to the tropical storm/depression/hurricane/apocalypse is happenin’. That was followed by nappage and day drinkin’. Rain should start in a little while and it will get rainier, windier, and stormier from there accordin’ to TWPTB. My phone has been havin’ hissy fits with weather warnin’s all day. I have it on silent right now cause it was makin’ me nuts. I am feelin’ the need for Netflix, chill, and popcorn.

MOOOOOOM rest assured that there is always plenty of tp as well as French toast makin’s at da cave. We are all civilized like that.

Rocker y’all will sweep the Oscars with that cinematic performance!

Sticky_Buns apartments at Costco? It’s a dream come true!

Can you just rinse thoroughly, to get out the chlorine, without doing the full shampoo?

Those apartments better feature some big-ass storage closets.

I had one (1) goal for my two days off, which was to set up fresh rat tanks & move 'em on over. There are several sub-steps, and I achieved … none of them.

But since I have a short shift today

ETA didn’t hit send, got to work, and promptly was asked to swap shifts with S.M. who’s in a lot of pain and needs to rest. So imma close for the next 3 nights in a row.

Cha-ching, I guess?

Good afternoon all. Swimming has been completed and soccer practice has been cancelled (the rain from this morning has stopped, but presume the area is still soaked.). May go back to the gym tonight if the mood strikes me, or maybe not. Have taken to using the treadmill (5.5% incline and 3.2MPH) to supplement the cycling, may spend more time on it tonight and see what the calorie burn rate is for, say, 30 minutes. Other than that nothing but putting the garbage outside needs to be done. About 74F and that’s as warm as it’s going to get, we’ll see if and when the AC is needed again.

Coppertone, interesting, wonder if the residents will get a free Costco membership…

Oopsie, don’t wait too long on that door, winter is coming… And I like the Lego change.

JtC, have a nice living room discussion.

shoe, eyes on the prize (or paycheck, in this case). Hope S.M. gets to feeling better.

And now for my usual 4:30pm TV (Pardon the Interruption) and then consider dinner. Catch y’all later.

Sadly I do have to go to the doctor tomorrow, but happily my doctor is less than 10 miles away now. It’s been cool all day and I am really wanting our windows to be installed yesterday because we could have opened them and just enjoyed.

A few ladies at class were worrying about the apple butter festival this weekend. Of course we will be going, but I’m sure they are right and that it won’t be as great as prior years.

Of course my hair is just as special as the rest of me. When I just rinse it, it feels and looks dull. To me, hubs says he can’t see it. Of course I’m pretty sure he hasn’t looked at me for decades.

Totally cracked up over that thought.

Are you going to get management pay? I hope she feels better soon.

I made tuna salad today: A 12-ounce can of albacore, mayonnaise, tarragon, and two hard-boiled eggs.

The kitties got the tuna water.

I just measured him. He’s ~9.5" at the shoulder. Yeah, he’s a chonky bedonk. GG’s shoulder height amazes me. He stands about as tall as my beagle goddog.

If your skin is very dry, a lot of times the touchscreen won’t register that you’ve swiped / clicked. Try a little light lotioning.

Irked, came home ,walked Nelson and et. Not a whole lot shaking here tonight.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

MIL is seriously worried about their former homes as this hurricane moves north. Not the she has any financial interest in any of them nor does she know any of the people who live in any of them. It’s become apparent to me that she’s a control freak. She called a former neighbor in Ocala to tell her about the hurricane and tell her what do.

Supper was sketty. Chillage is in full swing.

Not the full can I hope. That’s too much mercury for their little systems.

GG is long and lanky. When we are walking side by side, his shoulder is knee height to me. Remember those rulers on stand folks used to use to pin hems up? I should find one of them and put it on the floor and see if I can get a better idea of exactly how tall they are. Cats aren’t nearly as easy to measure as dogs.

I keep track of our old places and worry about them when the fires are too close. We didn’t build them ourselves but we did put money and sweat and tears into improving them. I can understand why someone would worry about homes she helped hand build. I hope nothing bad happens to them.

Pizza was pretty good, it would have been better with more garlic. Next time we will add mushrooms, pepperoni and another layer of cheese to the Alfredo sauce, garlic and four cheese base. If we are to die of pizza, we want to do it right.

Howdy Y’all! So it begins. ‘Tis rainin’ as I post This could be a cat 1 hurricane as it passes through here, but the hope is it will downgrade to at least a tropical storm, which is slightly less scary. Be best if it downgraded to a tropical depression cause that’s just mostly rain. I guess we shall see. Anywho, we have battened down the hatches. We had a cat 1 in October of 2018 and were without power for less than a day. I am not too worried right now as wind gusts are not predicted to be more than around 30 mph for the foreseeable future.

Good thing we have plenty of adult beverages.
