Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 21c/69f with no predicted change, and mostly cloudy. Weather app has little to say about that, except “Fucking suck it, clouds!” Yes, it’s cloudy out there but hasn’t rained here yet.
The only reason I can think of from Hubs’ side is that he’d be concerned about security if one of you wasn’t on the premises while a bunch of unknown workmen are on site. There’s also a possibility that something might go wrong, or something be discovered while they are doing the installation that requires you to see it, or decide on a course of action. But that should still only require one of you to be there, the other one can be happily in a quiet motel room with the cats and still be at the end of a phone.
You’ll be pleased to know that we survived the trip to Brizzle, perhaps because our first stop was to visit the Left-Handed Giant!
Taters I hope the pups came through ok, and I’m glad to hear your son is getting better now. Don’t know what to say about your husband and Zoe, perhaps he gets sad when you talk about her too.
Sticky Buns appendages crossed that the new MRI works out well for you!
It’s been an interesting weekend so far. We were late leaving home yesterday and only just made it to the station in time for the train we’d planned to catch. It was packed from our statin through to Big City Station but it pretty much emptied out after that. We had four seats to ourselves, and the catering trolley came round so we got a very good cup of tea on the way to Bristol.
Arrived on time, walked less than 10 minutes to our accommodation and got checked in quickly. After a quick change of clothes, we went out to get some food but didn’t really know where we were going, so we decided to walk in the general direction of the gig venue. We found an independent brewery call the Left-Handed Giant so we stopped there for a drink. They did serve pizza but I pointed out to 'im indoors that their menu was 100% meat-free. He put it down right away!! After finishing our drinks, we walked on a bit further and found a very gothy pub called The Crown which was pretty empty but had some good real ales and also served food. Fortified with some fine ale from St Austell Brewery and brisket dip sandwiches, we headed on to the gig venue.
It’s a place we hadn’t been before, nice little place with two stages and a record store as well as a bar. We got a drink, watched the last half of the support act, then went outside for some air as it was quite hot in there. Got chatting to a couple of people we saw at a music festival near Manchester a few months ago so that was pleasant. Then we headed back in to see the main act as it was the launch party for their second CD. Great performance, and we hung around afterwards to chat with them for a bit. Will be seeing them again at another music festival at the end of September so that’ll be something to look forward to. They are already asking what songs people want them to play, and which ones off the new album are already favourites. Better get my vote in!
We dodged a mahooosive rain storm on the way out of the gig, nipped next door for a pint until the weather calmed down, then walked back to our hotel. We were up and out in time for the midday train back here, stopped off in town for lunch at the Good Chinese Place, and then got a cab home. Cats are fed, litter trays are done, and I plan to spend the rest of my weekend in high sloth mode.
